Substitutes playing positions not shown when making a change during match

Hello, are you referring to the subs list on the tactics panel?

The positions of the subs can be seen if using the "Change Player" option on the radial wheel or using the quick sub menu - accessed by pressing A on the player cards on the dugout match UI.

Yes I am.

I'm still not sure why it doesn't say the player's position so you can plan who's coming on/off without having to open up another menu. It tells you their a substitute (S1, S2, S3 etc). We already know their a substitute, it may be more useful to have their actual position labelled.

Also, I understand you can click on the player to open the radial menu. But you can also drag and drop. If you have enabled drag and drop the positions need to be labelled.

With drag and drop - hold down A/LMB on sub, it will give you a colour key outline on all the positions:

Green - familiar

Yellow - competent

Orange - awkward

Red - unfamiliar

So you have a quick way to work out where each player plays, just always hold and drag the sub around and you'll work it out.

Narrative

When making a substitution the position of the oncoming substitute is not shown. Instead, it says S1, S2, S3, S4, S5 etc. If you are not familiar with the squad you have to click on to the player profile to find out which position they play. This is time consuming when you have to go through all subs to find the right position.

It would be great if a player's retrained positions were also shown on the squad, training etc pages. Would save having to drill into player profiles when picking a team through squad page.
