    Description of issue

    Currently the game has the Asian Champions League, and the Asian Confederation Cup (the AFC Cup). From the 2024 season the formats will change and a new competition will begin called the AFC Champions League 2, and the current ACL will be called the Asian Champions League Elite, with the AFC Cup becoming the AFC Challenge League.

    I cannot find an official link from the AFC website (which is quite unbelievable as things are happening this summer!) Here is a quote from an ESPN report :

    "After 21 years of the AFC Champions League being Asian football's premier club competition, massive changes are in store.

    Once the current tournament concludes in May, the 2024-25 season will usher in the new AFC Champions League Elite. The format will see the top tier of Asian club football reduced from 40 teams to just 24.

    It will be interesting to see how this pans out considering the European equivalent -- the UEFA Champions League -- is expanding the number of its teams from 32 to 36.

    Under the AFC's new club competitions structure, there will be a second-tier AFC Champions League 2. This tournament will still allow mid-level clubs to test themselves against representatives from the bigger nations, while a third-tier AFC Challenge League will feature teams from countries with developing programs."

    This is another report of the changes that will be taking place, and also wikipedia details the 2024 formats for the Asian Champions League Elite, the AFC Champions League 2 , and AFC Challenge League , which will be the third tier competition a bit like what the Europa Conference League is in Europe.

    Will this format get into the next update or final update before fm25?

    Forgot to mention the reason why I have posted this in the South Korean section! it's because qualifications will be different for the domestic competitions. For example the FA cup winners will qualify for the ACL elite BUT only if they finish in the top 4 of the league! https://www.kleagueunited.com/2024/02/news-2024-korean-fa-cup-gets-rebrand.html?m=1

    This will no doubt effect qualifications in other Asian countries as well.

    Hello, we are aware of the proposed changes to the Asian continental competitions and have these changes logged.

    However, we're not going to be able to include them in the FM24 Cycle.
