I'm having the same problem.

This is exact what happened to me just now!!

 

Hello, I think I've found the solution. Go to preferences and log in with your epic games account (if you don't have one you can easily create one with your steam account). 
And then access to the server works. 

Same issue here, I am the host and the game loads but no one can join

 

same. cant join my friends game. Steam issue it seems

Hello, there was a disruption affecting Epic Online Services yesterday, this should now be resolved.

Can you try again and see if the issue still occurs?

was this issue ever solved? I haven't been able to play in any online modes, even drafts or Versus mode displays this same message as above, the online issues with this game in the current gaming market, is pathetic to say the least, many frustrated evenings trying to find a fix to play online with friends, after playing the game since early championship manager days, please fix this.

It seems Epic had some issues with their network a few days ago: https://status.epicgames.com/

But we've not had any reports come in lately of people struggling to play online games.
