just one follow-up question: are the other two entries different players who were mistakenly assigned his name, or was he entered three times, and if yes, which id number will be retained? i ask because of player portrait / image.

It seems that it must have been some hiccup in the DB, and whilst added once, appeared thrice. The first number (12 ending) has remained.
