    Description of issue

The owner of AFC Bournemouth (Bill Foley) has also acquired FC Lorient in Ligue 1, with Foley stating that AFC Bournemouth are to be the parent club, and FC Lorient the feeder club. This is shown already by the transfers of Dango Outtara (Lorient to Bournemouth) and Romain Faivre (Bought by Bournemouth, immediately loaned to FC Lorient).[1]

One for the next instalment of FM, Foley has also acquired the licence to create a new A-League club in Auckland, New Zealand, which will join the A-League from the 2024/2025 season.[2]

In the near future, Foley is also highly likely to complete the deal for other clubs, with Belgium & South America being two regions that there have been a lot of links with.

Ultimately, Foley's plan is to create a multi-club business with AFC Bournemouth at the top of this tree, sourcing players from around the world with FC Lorient and the Auckland side being the first two clubs to become feeder clubs.

There is also currently construction underway of a new £32 million state-of-the-art training facility for Bournemouth, which is due to be completed within the next couple of years, which will raise our training and youth facilities, it would be nice to have this under construction in the game and due to be completed in say 2027, as I believe there was a 5 year plan set out in 2022. [3]

Lastly, with all of the above information put together, and taking a look at the last couple of transfer windows that Bournemouth have been a part of, in Foley, Bournemouth have an owner not afraid to dig deep into his pockets, and with minority owners such as Michael B Jordan, and the Chicago Bears owners investing heavily in the parent company of AFC Bournemouth, I believe it would be safe to say that the owners finances are better than "Okay". Hi @PedroPaddy

Thanks very much for that very helpful post.  I have been talking to our Bournemouth researcher, who comments:

"Regarding Lorient, Bill Foley currently holds a minority stake in the club, and Loïc Féry is still the owner and president of the club. Therefore, I do think that at the moment any affiliation would be somewhat limited, Foley’s intentions are very publicised – he wants to build a multi-club model, with Bournemouth as the priority club, and I believe he is still interested in one day acquiring the majority share of Lorient. So far there have been a couple of transfers (Ouattara and Faivre, as mentioned), which make me believe there could be a possibility of players going out on loan and even Bournemouth having first option on transfers. Also a pre-season friendly was held between the clubs this year, that could very well continue into the future. I expect the clubs to grow closer in the future, but it is hard to tell this early on whether there is a definite affiliation to put into the game."

So, we will keep a close eye on this, with a view to adding in the affiliation(s) as and when we have a clearer view.

The Canford Arena is already in the game, with the youth and reserve teams set to play their matches there.  We will set up a future move date for the first team's training, which will also involve an upgrading of the facilities, to mirror the development as it happens in real life.

We think that for the finances to be described as "Okay" in-game is fine, considering the financial power of competitor Premier League clubs such as Man City and Newcastle:

"Financially, I know that Foley has made it clear he will spend as much as is possible to make the improvements to the club both on and off the field, but I agree with you that this does not suddenly make Bournemouth a financial juggernaut – finances are definitely secure and stable and I’m happy for the game to reflect that and not much more."

    Thanks again!
