Banned players would be cleared for the next game if save & reload.

I am afraid this is no use. To send you a save I would need to save the game first, and when you load it, everything worthy of attention would be gone (since the banned players would be cleared).

As an example: I was about to play the Copa America semi-final, and Di Maria in the opponent squad had been banned (straight red the the 1/4s, so it can't be the semi-final clearance thing). I thought let's call it today and save for tomorrow, by which I only saw Di Maria on the pitch when I loaded the game the other day.

Like I said, this happened multiple times in multiple competitions for my and opponent players.

Odd one, we'll look to see if we can reproduce from scratch then, thank you for the additional information.
