Description of issue
It feels wrong and 'gamey' to "praise" your side when they are 1-0 in the second leg but 1-4 up overall just because this gets the correct response from the players. Most teams would care about their result on the day and only towards the end of the match their focus would switch more to the overall result (I assume the length of time until the end of the match would depend on the disparity of ability of the two teams and the overall aggregate score - consider a team of minnows losing 1-0 on the day but 2-1 up on aggregate against Liverpool it would still be appropriate to consider the overall score primarily but if you switch the scorelines the Liverpool manager would be livid and praising your players in that situation to get the best reaction just 'feels wrong').
