Description of issue
Dear SI team,
I have been trying to use the pre-game editor to set up a neutral match for FM23, played between 2 teams with perfectly identical strength. I like to set up such an environment that I can use to conduct various FM-related experiments.
I set up an editor file (uploaded, Test Cup.fmf) where Team A and Team B play a Test Cup match in a neutral stadium. Both teams are filled with identical sets of players with identical attributes and hidden attributes.
I conducted 1200 trials by constantly reloading and auto-simulating the exact same match. I was in charge of both teams to ensure that both teams entered the match in exact same conditions, including tactics, Tactical Familiarity, fitness, morale, team dynamics etc. Everything that could be equalised has been equalised.
The result I got was the following:
As you can see there is a skew towards Team B that is statistically significant. Team B scored on average 2.15 goals/match whereas Team A scored on average 2.02 goals/match. Team B won 498/1200 (42%) while Team A won 443/1200 (37%).
I have uploaded the savefile (23TC.2.fm) as well as a sample match report (23TC.2 match example.pfm) for your reference. When you look at these files you'll be able to see that everything is identical for Team A and Team B.
Could you have a look into why I am getting such a skewed result. Of course, it is possible that the higher win rate for Team B over Team A is just a coincidence.
Thank you, appreciate your hard work.
