  • My defender doesn't defend properly

    Description of issue

     

     

    I am playing against southampton and all of sudden a long ball gets thrown over my defenders, I think nothing was going to occur because my defender is marking him but all of sudden he goes away from the striker letting him through a 1v1 which he proceeds to score. I'm sorry if this is nothing, but I am a defender and not even a U7 defender makes that mistake.  He shouldn't go away, instead he should keep on with the striker and the other defender takes his place temporarily.

    that is insane! so much for defensive awareness, defenders are doing a terrible job this year, no wonder CDs make less tackles on avg than any other player

    at least you weren't playing three at the back, I've noticed that when I use that shape, sometimes the defender playing in the middle completely ignores his duties and leaves the opponent's player that's leading the line in absolute open space for them to attack, it's like they are trying to push into the defensive mid slot but not quite.
