Saved game starts on holiday several games ahead of where I saved it

This isn't something that is possible - the game can't actually advance unless it's loaded and processed through. Are you sure you didn't go on holiday in save and have auto saves turned on?

You should also have a backup save you can check which is called 'last save overwrite backup.fm' - when loading this save, at what point is it? 

This just happened to me too, I saved the game last night and quit then when I loaded it I hit continue and I realised it was taking ages to process and thats because I was on holiday!   I did notice before hitting continue that the game loaded into "game status page" not sure if thats significant.

Do you have the save file Neil referred to above, the last save overwrite file? At what point is that saved at?
