    Teams who finish in the top 8 of the group stage receive no financial reward for doing so. Meanwhile teams who finish 9th-24th enter the Play Off Round and are awarded £8m for their appearance in the round. Seems very unrealistic that UEFA wouldn't award prize money to the best performing teams.

    Well, no. This is the new Champions League format. UEFA haven't announced much of anything related to the new format. So if you're going to make things up, you should probably apply currently existing prize money structures to UEFA competition.
