In real life, Luca Modric has said that he wants to finish his career at Real Madrid. In the first half of the first season in my game, he refused to open contract talks until the World Cup was over. When that time came, Liverpool approached him and offered him a contract. He accepted. Because he was considering his options due to his contract soon ending, I couldn't offer him an extension. It's the same problem with Benzema, Kroos and Nacho. Halfway through the season, they decide they want to leave the club, even though they start most matches.
We are talking players who, in real life, more than once have stated their extreme loyalty to Real Madrid and have shown no desire to leave the club. It seems like because they have reached a certain age, FM 23 automatically decides that the players want a new challenge. It's not very realistic.
