If you go straight into contract talks with a player, they work as normal - they open with £100k p/w, I counter with £80k p/w, they say that's not good enough but suggest £95k p/w and so on.
However, if you use the Discuss New Contract With Agent feature first, and the agent says that the player will accept £80-100k p/w, they will usually open with £100k p/w and refuse to budge from that figure, no matter how close you offer to it.
This is the same for all bonuses and clauses.
