As per previous years (https://community.sports-interactive.com/forums/topic/579393-fm24-swiss-liechtenstein-expansion/), here an update of the expanded Swiss database, designed for Liechtenstein teams in particular (and hopefully, the national team will become playable without starting a new game).

Additionally included is an expanded Austria (NEW) file also activated 3rd and 4th regional levels

(not in as much detail as Swiss, but real life rules as far as I could find)

A note on reality: As far as I can tell now, it is impossible to completely simulate exactly how things unfolded. However, I was able to build a system that should kinda feel like what was happening in the middle-late 19th century. Several approximations were required. In general, this involved collapsing years or having certain events happen earlier than they otherwise would have (by a little bit).

Early Years = FA Cup alone with more teams participating each year

The last year (Year 10) = All the (mens) league structures pop into existence

Both Women's leagues are present from the start with the English league having more teams join over time to bring it to a total of 11 (yes there was women's football for real in the 19th century, they were just playing friendlies).

Year 0: FA Cup alone with only 12 teams. If you play as one of the other clubs, you'll need to schedule friendlies to improve your reputation. English Women's League with 4 teams.

Year 1: FA Cup alone with 17 teams

Year 2: FA Cup with 27 teams

Year 3: FA Cup with 54 teams

Year 4: FA Cup with 85 teams + English Women's League expands to 11 teams (new prize money structure)

Year 5: FA Cup with 105 teams

Year 6: FA Cup with 132 teams

Year 7: FA Cup with 176 teams

Year 8: FA Cup with 217 teams

Year 9: FA Cup with 251 teams

Year 10: FA Cup with 271 teams (removing all school boy and university teams). Retaining all Welsh, Irish, Scottish participants. English Women's League gets a new prize money structure that more closely matches the men's side. Welsh women's league begins with 9 teams. Scottish men's league begins with 7 teams. Welsh Men's League with 5 teams. Irish league with 5 teams (remember Ireland was one entity in the late 19th century). University teams join their own league (8 teams) & School boys join their own league (12 teams) but they are now insular and don't participate in the FA Cup anymore.

========================Final English League System===================

English system has pro-rel through 9 league levels. This is not accurate for 1888 and actually consolidates a lot of time overall, but since year 10 is the last I can effectively edit, I'm jamming a lot in at the end to give the whole thing a progressive feel. In 1888, the Football league was one level and 12 teams. They were elected to the league and reelected in subsequent years. The second division didn't really come into existence until 1892. The third division wasn't introduced until 1920 and the 4th division started in 1958. In our game, it's as if that whole structure starts in 1888.

In 1889, there was a rival league called the Football Alliance and in 1888 there was also a "Combination" league. So I've bastardized history here a bit to give our fantasy system four broad bands:

Football League 1 (12 teams; 3 relegated)

Football League 2 (22 teams; 3 promoted, 3 relegated)

Football League 3 (22 teams; 3 promoted, 3 relegated)

Football League 4 (24 teams; 3 promoted, 4 relegated)

Alliance League 1 (24 teams; 4 promoted, 3 relegated)

Alliance League 2 (24 teams; 3 promoted, 4 relegated)

Combination League 1 (24 teams; 4 promoted, 6 relegated) - Very dynamic in the lower levels

Combination League 2 (24 teams; 6 promoted, 8 relegated)

Four Regional Leagues (Varying size but the Midlands league is always 24 teams) - Northern League, Midlands League, London League, Southern League (2 promoted from each)

No playoffs, just straight pro-rel. I debated emulating the "election" system using reputation, but I'm trying to make the last year feel more modern so you can play it for a long time and it is as if you're eventually playing contemporary football.

============Reputation Determines English League Starting Position============

The keen observer will notice that there are visible leagues in years 0-9. These will be hidden in later releases, but here is the idea.

Teams are given a starting position in year 0 based on my best guess of their overall reputation in 1888. Teams that were in the football league start in the football league 1. Teams that were recently and soon-to-be making finals and semifinals in the FA cup or playing in the alliance league were given higher starting positions. Teams that were older and/or less active or were not getting results got pushed to lower divisions for their starting position.

For years 0-9 teams final position in the table is determined by their reputation, meaning teams that are winning the FA and friendlies rise in the league table. But, no actual matches are played in years 0-9. It's all about reputation.

The goal is to emulate the way that the election system worked in 1888. The most popular teams got chosen. If Clapham Rovers had won a bunch of FA cups, in the years leading up to the establishment of the football league, I think they would have been elected to the league.

When we do a final release, I'm pretty sure I can "hide" this from the user, but for testing purposes, I think it's better for everyone to be able to watch the changes over time.

==========================Prize money============================

Prize money initially starts very small, but each time we introduce new rule sets, the prizes increase until they reach basically contemporary premier league levels. I want it to feel like 1888 is both the beginning of the football league structure and is a rough approximation of eventual contemporary football with modern day prize money (but no tv). It's like you're stuck in time in 1888, but the money is 2026 money (but there's no tv).

==========================Alpha Release===========================

This is an alpha release, the final version will have more features and will combine with the no-people patch so there are literally zero humans in the game at the start.

There are many ways to improve realism that have yet to be implemented at this stage.

I have created the Iron Curtain mods for FM20 and FM22 (last one still WIP) on the assumption that the Berlin Wall never fell, the Iron Curtain was torn down and the 1988 status quo contined into the new millenium.

This time I will take many more moments in history and merge together on a world map. The result in game will lead to (hopefully a change dynamic in world football.

Baseline

• The game of football is not 'invented' in England, but has evolved from the Mesoamerican ball game. Yes, the cradle of football is outside Europe!
• I will not determine the exact effect of each historical change. There will be some historical context for the last 200 years, because that is our scope. Other than that, the map is just that, the map. While studying the butterfly effect is interesting, the goal is building a football world.
• History is very imporant! So teams, competitions and nations will have a complete football history.
• Things might be controversial. If things are controversial for you, let me know in a (respectful) way and I will listen and decide whether to change the map.
• I don't listen well to shouting by the way

One major thing to decide on is colonialism and the effect of it. The scramble for Africa took place in the era our history starts. Colonialism also has a big effect on the game with how newgens are created (see France, Belgium and The Netherlands for instance). The same applies to migrant workers. Depending on my decisions I will need editor changes to work out things the way I have in mind.

This thread will probably end being another 'Dev' diary similar to what I have done for the Iron Curtain mods. It helps to order my mind and while the Iron Curtain has a clear end result in mind, here suggestions are welcome. I have to work out football league and cup systems for about 150 nations afterall. And that is before I start thinking about international competitions!

I will probably create a few more of those, but first... we test!

Welcome to the 2025 edition of my Wales Lower League database! I've managed to get a file working down to level 9, the current lowest level of Welsh men's football.

This database will include:

• An entirely populated Welsh football pyramid down to the lowest leagues

• Over 25,000 database changes, including hundreds of new teams, competitions, stadiums and more.

• Correct information for every club where possible, including stadiums and kits.

• Accurate specific club scenarios, such as clubs with specific regens, clubs who can't be promoted and more.

• Dynamic, accurate promotion playoffs from Level 7.

• Much, much more.

Also massive thanks to Stezarium for helping me sort out the promotion/relegation to and from the 3rd tier.

KNOWN ISSUES

• Some teams may be moved around divisions at the start of a new season. I've done my best to mitigate this by setting regional divisions, but some movement may occur within tiers. This shouldn't affect gameplay however.

• Welsh Cup doesn't include teams down to Tier 5/6 as in real life. Currently working on a fix for this, but it's slow going

• Some leagues front-load their fixtures in August, meaning later months have fewer fixtures. Not sure about a fix for this, advice is appreciated.

Canada Database 5.0.fmf

The Canadian Megapatch revamps the Canadian football pyramid in Football Manager 25, making the Northern Super League and the women’s L1C divisions playable, along with a plethora of changes that improves the accuracy of the Canadian Premier League, the Voyageurs Cup, and relevant continental competitions. The goal is realism. Leagues belonging to League1 Canada (L1O Prem; L1O Champ; L1BC, L1AB, L1Q, L2Q) are also added as playable leagues, alongside journalists, coaches, USports/provincial league teams. Scroll down for an extended list of changes.

Note: due to FM glitches, L1Q/L1O composition for 2025 is based the 2026. I will continue to try to fix this. Also, only one reporter attends NSL press conferences for some reason. I also intend to eventually add kits for NSL clubs and lower L1C division staff.

Another year, another Attention To Detail Data Update..!

This is inspired by my in development update for FM24, which is still ongoing alongside this update, for those of you who are prefering to stick with FM24 - details can be found in its own thread here - https://community.sports-interactive.com/forums/topic/579414-fm24-morrisseymuses-attention-to-detail-data-update/#comment-14255639

So, at risk of repeating myself, the backstory... Whenever I play FM, I'm never truly happy with player stats and other little niggles (I blame the OCD ), so I've decided to carry on my update into FM26. From the beta alone, I've already identifed many player attributes that I don't believe are wholy accurate to current day.

The purpose of my update (and what sets it apart from most of the others here), is a pure focus on the key areas listed below and a true 'attention to detail' throughout, with the aim to give the most updated and realistic representation of each individual player and club's own personalities and skill sets.

With this in mind, my update will NOT include any transfers or loans.  There are already many utterly amazing, multi-person, transfer update-focused updates released for FM24 and I'm sure these will carry on into FM26.

I do this update (as well as the previosuly mentioned FM24 update and an update for FM 2008!), all by myself in my spare time and could not possibly hope to compete, nor would I want to!

I instead hope to see this update as something long term that will be the perfect compliment to the other transfer updates, as the separate focus I have on clubs and player data will hopefully lead to improved compatibility and the ability to run my updates alongside any others.

NB: I have full admiration and respect for the scouts that work on FM and no disrespect is intended with this project; this is an update I plan on rolling out weekly or bi-weekly (hopefully! lol), to give the community an alternative database, with more regular updates on players and teams as they happen throughout the season; one that can also hopefully be influenced with input from the community itself!

So I've waffled on long enough...!

WHAT'S IN THE UPDATE?

• The ONLY update with regular player and staff updating!

• Player and manager stat updates - constantly updated stats as the season progresses!

• Player and manager personality updates - favoured/hated personnel, hidden character attributes, etc. - Managers fall out with a player?  Friendships forming off the pitch?  Staff leave a club under less than mutual circumstances?  A player has a burst of form, a brush with the law off the pitch, a sudden transfer request, or a drop in consistency? all will be addressed in player stats!

• Player altered/updated appearances - new/more accurate skin/hair for the 3D engine.

• Teams - club rep, stadiums, correct names, finances, morale, 2026/27 season kits, etc.. plus real names and details added in where necessary! (eg. Brazil)

• Leagues - All of the promotions and relegations and tournament/cup winers for the 25/26 season will be updated at the end of the season, complete with the correct/more accurate league/cup names added!

• Player form - an emphasis on big game performances and consistency, as players develop reputations for reliability, or perhaps 'big game bottlers'..?

• Injuries - added/removed as and when they happen!

• New players/youth/wonderkids - added when they are discovered! This isn't a priority feature however, due to trying to maintain compability with other transfer/youth updates.

• Compatibility with transfer updates - allowing for transfers and my own stat updates together in your game! (WIP)

Since I've seen some people asking how they can change the continent, I'm releasing an alpha version, which may have bugs, but allows you to change continents.

So here we go:

This is a “base” skin, with all needed files of editor.fmf file, to the editor that allows to customize the editor.

You can customize the look (skinning) or/and the functionality (allow hidden options, change limits of teams in cups, ….) without editing the editor.fmf file.

1. Extract this in your skins' folder.

2. Go to C:\Users\UserName\AppData\Local\Sports Interactive\Editor 26\Caches and delete editor.skc file.

3. Launch the Editor.

P. S. 1 — If you make changes to the skin, you need to repeat 2, before relaunch the editor to changes take effect.

P. S. 2 — After the updates, it could be changes in editor.fmf file, so this will be updated to reflect these changes, and you need to repeat 1 and 2, before relaunch the editor to changes take effect.

Fresh for FM 26 - the latest version of my Concacaf Expanded Universe (CONCACAF EU) files. 

This is similar to my previous CONCACAF EU databases, where the US moves from a closed structure and stringent roster rules to one more similar to Europe. I also moved it to a winter schedule and used an opening/closing stage structure, and regional divisions (minus the top tier, which is one national division because of continental qualification rules.) In the United States this year I made eight levels, imagining a merger between MLS and USL. 

I also activated a number of the other CONCACAF nations and build out the pyramids in Mexico and Canada to make it more immersive - I’ll have a more detailed post below on the specific leagues

If you’ve played the database before a lot of the US experience will be similar, excluding some new roster rules.  I spent more time this year reworking some structures to hopefully make the top three nations (Mexico, the US, and Canada) more competitive across continental comps. There are now foreign player limits in the US and in the CONCACAF competitions, with three free movement treaties set up to increase the talent pool for other nations. I also balanced the money a bit, so the top teams in the US, Canada, and Mexico have similar TV money budgets. Additionally, I spent some time this year building opening/closing structures for the nations that have them besides the US and adding promotion/relegation to Canada and Mexico.

It’s also a work in progress right now, because I’ve come across a few editor issues in the past few weeks, which limit what I can do at certain levels of the competition. I’ll put a few notes on that below if you’re interested - hopefully a future editor patch will let me add some other elements.

Tested for 10 years in the game, all is okay.

What has changed?

• Added II Liga - playable with recreated promotion and relegation playoffs

• Added III Liga - playable with promotion playoffs

• Added IV Liga non-playable, used for promotion/relegation from III Liga only

Few pointers

• U21 Squad rewards were changed, I've put them as usual with new money distribution rules (all teams get the money, depending on league position)

• II liga playoffs are set just as I liga playoffs (yes, 3–4 days break between last match of regular season and 1st semi-final playoff is normal)

• As usual, promotions and relegations between 3 Liga and IV Liga may not be 100% accurate due to regionalization. Teams should be in the nearest available division if there's not enough spaces in the right division (teams from north (II Group) won't be in south division (IV group)). No artificial league increase is required for this level, if I'd do lower levels, maybe I would try to restrict this even more, right now default settings set by us researchers are fine.

I'll be honest guys, I don't like fm26 in current state. For me, it's tedious and simply not fun. But because there are people playing it and liking it, I've decided to create the file nevertheless.

And I don't know if I create lower leagues, probably not.

Installation instruction

1) Download the File.

2) Drag the file into your "Editor Data" folder, located at \Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 26\editor data. If this folder doesn't exist, create it.

Every stadium in the game has a team. Olympic stadium houses an amateur team. Can you get them to fill the stadium?

Every team has a proper Jersey, or if one could not be found, one assigned. You wont be encountering any default generic red and blue teams as you make your way up the pyramid

Some teams such as the Church based teams, or the ethnic Community based teams, have club visions to match their status. Churches are asked to develop through their own youth system. Academy teams are asked the same, but also to sign young players, USports teams are asked to recruit out of high school, and teams such as ICSF Columbus are asked to sign Italians. Some fun visions exist too. Can you guess what you might need to do as Goals City FC?

The 2020 Gold Medal Winning Canadian Women's National Team have been added as icons and legends to the applicable teams. Can the Whitecaps live up to expectations and move into Christine Sinclair stadium?

Be on the look out for some interesting challenges. The worst team in the game is Unathletico Vancouver. Can you lead Glory FC to its fabled glory? Will Benchwarmers FC be able to win the league with walk on tryouts only?

Started to make very own San Marino Promotion/Relegation Database. I am currently in the Testing Phase But will provide more information

Screenshot shows that Testing into the future there is no Errors.

Had to make some changes to B Division. As you can see in the screenshot below there is only 7 teams. With the name changes from 2024 to 2026 some of the teams were already in the game as 1 team instead of 2 different teams. So all B teams are not in the San Marino Super Cup or Coppa Titano. With there being only 7 teams in B Division I have decided to make it 3 rounds of games for 18 games with the top 3 getting promotion to Group A and bottom 3 of Group A going down to Group B.

A Division does play 30 games plus top 3 teams get UEFA Champions and Conference league.

Roster size is Max 25 players

Also can only have 10 Imports/Foreign players on the team

NB3
Original setup of this division is set to 4 regional groups. As the game already using local regions in the database (7 of them) for the easier and more stable dynamic regional promotion and relegations I used 7 region, thats why in here I sorted the NB3 for 7 regional groups. Teams from NB2 relegating to their regional division, The 7 group winner crowned as champions of their regional leagues and qualifying to a promotion playoff. In the playoff the 7 champions and the 15th placed NB2 teams plays a 1 leg decider. The winners goes to NB2 the losers stays/drops to their regional league in NB3.

NB4
Original setup of this division is a county based championship. I do not have the knowledge and time to change all of the teams by county, so i stayed in a 7 regional group system, similar as the NB3 works. Promotion and relegations are regional dynamic here as well, keeping the same number of teams in NB3 and NB4, so number of teams moving up/down depends of the upper leagues.

MISC
All playable teams already have a II/B/Reserve teams set up. Or they are in a playable league already (as i filled up the league's team numbers with them) or they are in a view only simulated lower league where they are able to get promotion and move up the pyramid. II/B/Reserve teams are able to get promotions until second divisions. Real life they are able to go as far 3rd, but to keep build nation saves a bit stronger in long term, i let them goes up one div higher.

"The Hungarian and academic rules"
As these are recommendations and impossible to employe ingame as not hard-coded rules, only the basic player requirements are set up.

NB1 and NB2 teams will receive money at the end of the season if at least 5 Hungarian players kept played on the field in each round. (no age restriction)
TV Money are sorted out for NB1 and NB2 teams only if the team is meating the minimum youth setup requirement. (Disclaimer here! It is an experimental decision, i dont know if that will boost the AI teams to invest in youth setups more frequent or not)
Other rewards (final ranking money, parachute payment, winning games, etc) are deleted or simply not used.

Highly recomended add key staff and players before game start!

I have made various tournaments, friendly competitions and cups.

I cannot designate real fixtures for the 2025 tournament or designated stadiums but I have included the exact venues for the tournament and each group is correct meaning the knockout rounds will be as in real life depending on results. For the 2027 tournament I have again set it in the United States and used dynamic qualifying for teams to enter and I have also duplicated the stadiums as in 2025. Please see below for the exact structure. I have also followed the real life rules that no more than 2 clubs from each nation can qualify and only the host nation can have 3 teams. Unfortunately this has been created before the 2026 tournaments have been completed so I can update further down the line. So the 2027 tournament looks like.

From 2029 the tournament still has dynamic qualifying picking the previous 4 winners of each Champions League and then the best teams via coefficient qualifying. The host nations have been picked from the following. The 2027 draw was created by Chat GPT

Australia, Morocco, Spain, Japan, Brazil, China, USA and Germany. I have used 11 stadiums from each Country to use for the competition.

Decided to share a passion project of mine here to see if more people would enjoy it.

This database based of my FM24 version of combination of @Palk and @themodelcitizen their US databases which adds 3 levels of NCAA college (soccer) football to the USA Pyramid with a working MLS draft, age restrictions, wage restrictions etc.

Full setup:

MLS - Mostly untouched, apart from the no -21 players allowed.
USL 1&2 - Same as above and turned amateur to avoid college players jumping ship
MLS Next Pro - Comparable to the G-League in NBA, also only players over 21 allowed

NCAA D1, D2 and D3

4 conferences in each division (West, East, South and Mid-West). Regular season of 22 games. Post season either the championship playoffs for each division or the NIT (National Invitational Tournament) or Relegation Play-offs.

Promotion Relegation based on who reached the 'Super Eight' round of the playoffs. Champions get a bye into this round = champions get promotion.

Division restructuring each season based on location (sometimes still a bit buggy, example Duke ending up in the Western conference for some reason)

12 teams per conference

Only -23 players allowed

Increased quality of youth delevopment.

All NCAA teams are amateur (to ensure MLS Draft working)

Long story short, I've been having a lot of fun, hope you will too!

NCAA V1.0 Seperate Conferences.fmf

The tournament uses the losing teams in the play-off qualifying round of the UEFA Conference League [Approx. 18 teams] and the other 18 teams are made up of teams from the top UEFA Coefficient Countries. This can vary over the years as there is now way to fix 18 teams losing qualifiers and 18 teams Coefficients. The maximum teams is two from each Coefficient Country who didn't qualify for Europe in the normal way. So for example for 2025 it would be Brighton and Bournemouth from England, Werder Bremen and RB Leipzig from Germany and so on. It will go down the league table until it finds the two teams that have not qualified for European competition normally. It uses the top 14 Coefficient Countries for use in the competition but it will obviously go for the top nations. I have set the host nations for the final to smaller nations such as Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Hungary etc, to try and match the UEFA Conference League Final venues. The Winner of the tournament doesn't gain access to the EUFA Conference League as it will mess up the Conference League Coefficients. It does however, automatically qualify for the following years tournament. Coefficient points are also gained within this tournament without disrupting the others.

Along with this I was asked to create a new UEFA Super Cup. So in 2025 it's the one game final [PSG v Tottenham] but from 2026 it changes. In 2026 there will be 4 teams competing but roughly using dates as in real life. So in 2026 UEFA Champions League Winners v UEFA Alliance League Winners and UEFA Europa Winners v UEFA Conference League Winners. The two winners play in the final. Again, I have tried to vary the final venues.

Lastly, I have created a file that uses the correct teams for each competition for 2025 for the UEFA Champions League, Uefa Europa League, UEFA Conference League and UEFA Alliance League. I did this by hiding the qualifying rounds for 2025 and adding the real teams for 2025 only. So for example Pafos, Qairat Almaty and Qarabag will all be in the UEFA Champions League etc. For the Alliance League I added the exact losing teams from the Play-Off Qualifying Round of the UEFA Conference League and 18 teams from the top Coefficient Countries for the 24-25 season. All tournaments revert back to the correct formats for 2026 including the qualifying rounds.

I also tried to create the real fixtures for each competition but it breaks the files. I think that because the fixtures are picked dynamically and not set like the Premier League for example you cannot change. So when you load the game if you have a team in any one of these competitions you will see your fixtures in the schedule straight away. Because the UEFA Alliance League is set up slightly differently [Because in the game you are waiting for the losing teams in the UEFA Conference League the draw happens a week later]. This is not only for 2025 but 2026 and onwards also.

The pre-game editor is still broken. You can test rules OK but you cannot test competitions for future years. So I had to forward using custom start dates to clarify these competitions. They all work within the 2026 season. When the editor is fixed I will update even further.

One further issue, the UEFA Alliance League was built on the Mitropa Cup template and name changes were fine in 26.1.1 but since 26.1.3 update it breaks the name change. I have never experienced this before using the pre-game editor, once you override a title of a tournament it changes automatically normally. All I can say is change the name within the game with the in-game editor or FMRTE editor. Other than those options you will have to live with Mitropa Cup as the tournament heading until I can fix properly.

This has been hard work as the pre-game editor is really bugged this year and it's taken a long time to finalise these files. If the editor gets properly fixed I will make further updates to these files.

I believe these are working fine checking the 2026 season. If you enetr any problems after that, please let Me know and I will try to fix where possible.

These files bring the most possible real life to the European Competitions as possible and gives your chosen team to qualify for a European competition not in the normal way.

I have also created a FIFA Club World Cup to run every two years instead of four. So 2025, 2027, 2029 etc. I will upload this shortly. This also has the correct teams, Host nation, venues and groups for 2025 and Coefficient qualifying for 2027. 2029 onwards uses qualifying based on past Winners of the various Champions Leagues.

It picks the losing teams from the third qualifying and play off rounds of the UEFA Conference League which is approx. 18 teams. It then picks up to 2 teams that finished in their respective leagues just outside of European qualification for the top coefficient leagues in Europe. These nations are as follows, England, Spain, Germany, France, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Belgium, Czech Republic, Turkiye, Norway, Greece, Austria, Poland, Scotland, Denmark, Cyprus, Sweden and Croatia. The competition picks approx. 18 teams from these leagues. The higher the coefficient the more teams get to qualify. So for example, Bournemouth and Brighton have qualified because they were the top two teams in the Premier League in 2025 just outside the normal European placings.

The tournament is based exactly the same as the other European competitions with a Swiss 36 team format with each team playing 6 matches. However, there is no knockout round between teams finishing 17th to 24th, the top 16 teams go straight to a knockout round before the Quarter Finals. The competition follows the exact same fixture dates as the “UEFA Conference League” [Barring the 17th to 24th knockout round] but the final is played one week before the “UEFA Europa League Final”.

I have lowered the host nation format to include Nations that would host a final for this competition, so you would be looking at Nations like, Wales, Austria, Poland, Republic Of Ireland, Scotland etc. The coefficient points are gained within this competition, but there is no effect to the other European competitions.  The prize money and competition ranking is slightly lower than the “UEFA Conference League” and it gives teams who don't qualify for Europe in the normal way a chance to play in a European competition.

I have added screenshots of the teams that have qualified in my save and to be honest, this competition has a better selection of teams than the the “UEFA Conference League”. Teams such as RB Leipzig, AC Milan, Lazio, Werder Bremen, Bournemouth, Brighton and AZ Alkmaar have qualified due to the qualification process.

I have to be honest, trying to create the Swiss format was really hard and trying to implement the 17th to 24th knockout round before the next knockout round was nearly impossible. I have updated this file a few times so this is why you will find it as V3. I hope you enjoy and if you have any questions please ask.

As ever, I'd like to start by thanking @graaa, the mad genius behind this custom USA database from FM15. This edit includes a lot of his work on the Extended Club World Cup that was part of that file, and I only posted it because he chose not to continue that mod or update it, but left its details as fair use for others, and I thought the idea was too awesome to let it vanish. I've been maintaining it along with my own changes ever since.

This database edit replaces all the club continental championships and the Club World Cup with three worldwide club tournaments: the FIFA Champions League, World League, and Youth League. All domestic leagues are left untouched and will run alongside the intercontinental tournaments: fancy midweek trips to Argentina to play Boca between your league matches? I BET YOU DO.

The FIFA Champions League and World League are senior-level tournaments that mostly work how you expect: Champions League has better competition and better payouts (though the difference between the two isn't as derisory as in real life), finish high enough in your domestic league or win your major domestic cup and you get a ticket (if your league of choice doesn't use a single table or has some other continental qualification shenanigans, it SHOULD work properly depending on how SI or your database modder of choice coded that specific league, but I can't be certain. 

There are qualifiers (the most recent winners of the Champions League, World League, and the top 30 leagues get automatic group stage places) and do not have to go through qualifiers, and a group stage, and a knockout stage, and Big Fancy Neutral Site Finals. There is now also goal line technology and VAR (in CL/WL group stage games and onward).

The qualifying and knockout stages still use away goals as a tiebreaker, and the group stages still use the old format (groups of 4, six matches, top two advance). I currently have no plans to change either of these.

The FIFA Youth League uses a similar format and replaces the Viareggio Tournament/Italian Youth Invitational. It pits the U19/U18 teams of CL participants (and, where not enough teams are available strictly from the CL clubs, additional elite youth teams from around the world) against each other. 

There is also a a FIFA Super Cup between the Champions League and World League winners, scheduled after qualifiers finish (since neither of those teams participate in them) but before the September international break and the start of the group stages.

Release: The FM24 version is unlikely to receive any further updates. 

Please note that, due to a bug in the base game since the 24.3 update breaking the ability to gain homegrown status, I have revised the roster rules to be based on foreign status rather than homegrown status (as in, there is a limit of 17 foreign players in a squad rather than requiring 4 club-trained and 4 nation-trained players). If SI fixes the bug this will be changed back.

Known Issues

• If you're using a Real Name fixes update with LNC files, then when you start a new career, the FIFA Champions League will still be called the Club World Cup (since I originally made it by editing the DB entry and rules for the CWC). This will be corrected whenever you load the save game, but until then that's the name you would need to search for it under.

• Canadian MLS teams apparently do not have a path to this competition, since Canada's domestic cup is coded as a continental cup rather than as a domestic cup for some reason, and they do not play in the CPL so are not picked for those spots either. My prior fix for this no longer works this year so I cannot include it yet, but since I typically play as a Canadian MLS team I am rather motivated to find one (or at least, as motivated as I am to play the game at all), and will include it here when I do.

• Removing continental club competitions also disables continental player awards for some reason. Currently only North America (because the Leagues Cup still exists) keeps its player awards, since no other continents have regional club competitions active in the default database. Presumably other custom files adding such smaller-scale continental competitions (like the old Scandinavian Royal League or something similar) would correct this issue but I cannot currently confirm this.

• The custom group names for groups 27-32 in the group stages (Greek letters in previous versions) do not correctly display.

Qualifiers:

Since FM22, rankings now shift dynamically based on results, but I haven't found where the game actually shows "coefficients" for custom continental competitions, even though I've seen these allocations change in my simulations. I appear to have figured out how to control the distribution of coefficient points, but since the game does not show them we'll all just have to take my word for it. At the very least there seem to be fewer deeply unexpected countries climbing into the top 30 and getting automatic group stage spots than there used to be.

In any case, here is how I expect things to work:

Nation/Association Coefficients, as in reality, are the average of points earned by a nation's clubs per year in both the CL and WL. Nations are ranked based on the sum of these averages over 5 years. Here is how nations earn points:

A win in the CL or WL from the group stage onward is worth 2 points. A draw is worth one.

Wins in the CL qualifiers are worth 1 point. Draws are worth 0.5. 

Wins in the WL qualifiers are worth 0.5 points. Draws are worth 0.25.

Bonus points are also awarded for reaching certain stages of the competition as follows:

Reaching the CL group stage is worth 4 points. Reaching the WL group stage is worth 2 points.

Reaching the CL knockouts is worth 6 points. Reaching the WL knockouts (not including the playoff - so you have to win your WL group or the playoff between a second-place WL group finish and a third-place CL group finish) is worth 3 points.

Reaching each subsequent round in either competition is worth 1 point.

Nations are ranked based on the sum of these average points over the past 5 years (as far as I can tell this starts at 0 so there may be some dramatic shifts in the first 5 years from my initially set list to what results create), and the number of spots is laid out as follows:

CL and WL holders: automatically qualify to the group stage and instead play a Super Cup.  There is no limit on the number of qualifiers for each country, so it is possible for up to 8 teams from a country to qualify, if the CL and WL are won by teams from the same top 9 country.

Leagues ranked 1-9: 6 spots (champion gets an automatic CL group stage spot, cup winner and 2 more spots in Q5, 2 spots in Q4. )

Leagues ranked 10-30: 5 spots (champion to group stage, cup winner and 1 to Q5, 2 to Q4.)

Leagues ranked 31-57: 4 spots (champion to Q5, cup winner to Q4, 2 Q3.)

Leagues ranked 58-89: 3 spots
(For 58-66: champion to Q4, cup winner and 1 to Q3.
For 67, champion and cup winner to Q3, 1 to Q2.
For 68-89: champion to Q3, cup winner and 1 to Q2.)

Leagues ranked 90 and below: 2 spots

(For 90-115, champion and cup winner start in Q2.
For 116 and below, champion and cup winner start in Q1)

Format Details:

Note: all knockout stages, both before and after the group stage, use away goals as a tiebreaker, as well as extra time (including away goals) followed by an ABBA penalty shootout. 

The Champions League has five qualifying rounds, with two-legged fixtures starting in June. All CL qualifiers are seeded into these rounds depending on how high they finished and which league they qualified from or won the domestic cup in, as above. The 96 winners in the final qualifying round (August) go to the CL group stage along with the 32 automatic qualifiers, the losers go to the WL group stage along with the 32 teams that survive the WL qualifiers, below.

The World League has four qualifying rounds, beginning in July after the first two CL qualifying rounds are complete.

• Teams that lose in the first 2 CL rounds start in WL Q1.

• Teams that lose in CL Q3 are drawn into WL Q2.

• Teams that lose in CL Q4 are drawn into WL Q3.

• The winners in WL Q3 advance to WL Q4. The 48 winners of WL Q4 and the 16 "best losers" (not sure how this is calculated honestly) play a one-off WL Q5 game for the 32 final spots in the WL group stage.

Each group stage features 32 groups of 4 (so six games each). CL plays on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, WL on Thursdays, from September through December.

CL: The top 2 in each group qualify for the knockout rounds. Third place teams fall into the World League knockouts.

WL: The top 2 in each group qualify for the knockout rounds. The 32 second place teams will be drawn against the 32 3rd place teams from the Champions League groups - World League group winners will receive a bye to face the winner of those ties.

Everything goes as you'd expect from there.

The limited Issues are:

Very small chance in the 2026 season one competition may not finish in time for season update day, FIX: make sure you have a save in every may and if it happens the fixture will 99/100 finish in time, annoying but very minor.

Crash on Jan 31st, not a database issue with this file and reloading save should fix it.

All graphical files like 2D and 3D kits for all div 4-6 teams are on the Football Manager Japan discord as well as a place to provide any bug reports or anything else related to Japan, also this file will most likely require a licensing fix (as it removes, changes club divisions) as to which I can only say, ask in the discord or use google if you do not know what that means.

All of them were placed in the Division Inferieure (lower league) and regional divisions for N1,N2,N3 and U19 was set upon the region each one of them belongs.

4) Correction of names

In some cases there are teams that have their name wrongly written (eg. Bastienne Bordeaux while in reality its Bastidienne Bordeaux)

Populate Lower Leagues with Teams - FM includes some teams, but excludes others (especially those non-affiliated with Men's clubs)

Populate Tier 3 and Tier 4 teams with Players and Staff, and add in some player history when neccesary - At the moment the FA's scores website is very much my friend, if anyone else knows of other locations, that would be greatly apppreciated

Sort out Stadiums - Some teams play at multiple stadiums. For example, Cheltenham (my local team) usually plays at Kayte Lane in Bishop's Cleeve, but a couple of Seasons ago played at the main Ground of Whaddon Road, and has also played in Evesham if there has been fixture clashes. I aim to replicate these across at least the top 4 tiers

Rules for FA WNL Cup and Plate - The FAWNL Cup and Plate are an odd one, especially this season, as all 72 FAWNL Premier and Division One teams are sorted into groups, with the 22 group winners and 10-best runners ups going to the Cup and the remaining runners ups and 20 best 3rd place teams going into the Plate

Rules for FA Cup - At the moment with WFA Cup only goes from round 2, my eventual aim is to have every round represented (a few tier 7 teams made it to the First Round Proper this season, and one (Leyton Orient) has made it to Round 2), plus adding in prize money, etc

I hope to have a base version (FAWNL Premier and Division One unlocked) in the next few weeks, followed by the full version after that (possibly around Christmas Time).
