AC Lugano is a start. Let's see where it takes me...

Hi all,

After being inspired by Tubey84's Ternana update thread, I have decided to do something very similar myself. In my case, it will be an update of the game I have just started where I am managing FC Lugano of the Swiss Challenge League.

I'm afraid my updates will not be able to be as frequent as Tubey's and maybe not as detailed(due to time constraints), but the thread will be updated none the less.

I will start later tonight/tomorrow morning by showing you my squad and providing player profiles.

To be honest, my update is more for myself. To keep track of my progress and therefore be able to look back on how my career has developed. However, if anyone else finds it an interesting read then great!!

Bye for now

Lugano Squad 08/09

Goalkeepers

1. Giovanni Proietti, 30

First-choice keeper and has been since joining Lugano in 2006. Moved to Switzerland as he never managed to make it in Italy after playing for a host of lower league Italian clubs. Although a bit flamboyant, Proietti has good command of his area and excellent distribution.

20. Christian Altebrando, 24

Another Italian goalkeeper looking to challenge his fellow countryman for a place between the sticks. New signing from Carpenedolo who has great refelexes and agility. He will be second choice at the start of the season.

30. Luca Vicentini, 23

An inexperienced Swiss keeper, who has the potential to be decent. Is a definate third choice behind the two Italians. In his first season for the club after taking a step up from the Swiss non-league.

34. Silvio Pinheiro, 17

Because of his age and inexperience, the Portugese goalkeeper is a long way away from a call up to first team duties. He will be first choice goalkeeper for Lugano U21's this season.

Defenders

4. Philippe Montandon, 25

A tall powerfull centre-back, who is great in the air. Montandon is on loan from Serie A side Chievo. The former Swiss U21 defender may only be at the club for a season, but he will be a very important player while he's at the club.

5. Luca Denicola, 27

Now in his second season for the club, the classy centre-back will probably start the season partnering Montandon in the heart of defence. What he lacks in pace, he makes up for in his reading of the game. Also a former Swiss U21.

6. Ludovic Moresi, 28

He has returned to the club after 5 seasons of trying to make it in Italy. The hard tacking Swiss central defender also has the ability to play in the centre of midfield. However, it looks as though he will be a back-up for both positions.

16. Pascal Thrier, 23

Thrier is a highly talented Swiss defender who could be capable of playing at a higher level. His stamina, workrate and good technical ability mean that he can play in a variety of positions. Although a centre-back, he can also play at right-back or in midfield. Is looking for a place in the first eleven after arriving from Winterthur.

25. Samuele Preisig, 24

Lugano's first choice left-back. Another native who is very good defensively, but lacks quality going forward. Good solid player, but the manager may be looking to strengthen in this position.

28. Fulvio Sulmoni, 21

The young Swiss centre-back is in his fourth season with the club, but the players ahead of him in his position are much better. Sulmoni will have to look to improve if he is to stay at the club. One of the club's quickest defenders, however.

29. Michele Coppolla, 19

Another Swiss youngster, but he has much more promise than Sulmoni. Although most comfortable at left-back, Coppolla can play anywhere accross the back line as well as patrolling in front of it. Will have to beef up a bit for a first team spot. One for the future.

32. Simone Rota, 23

The attacking right back has an Italian father and a mother from the Philippenes. He is considering playing for the country of his mothers birth, which could mean a few away days on international duty. Definate first choice in his position after arriving from the Italian lower leagues this season.

I will update with the midfielders and forwards tomorrow at a more reasonable hour...........night.

Midfielders

7. Carlos Da Silva, 24

Creative Portugese winger who started his career at Grasshopper. He is another player who is new to Lugano and he will be looking to impress this season. A set-piece specialist, who can play on the right or left side of midfield.

10. Luca Baldo, 25

The diminutive Italian is in his second season at the club. Although he likes to sit deep in midfield, Baldo is more of a passer than a destroyer. A poor man's Pirlo if you like. He will be battling for one of the central midfield spots this season.

11. Michael Perrier, 19

The tricky left winger is probably the clubs biggest prospect. The Swiss U21 has great agility and dribbling skills coupled with high work rate and real determination. Can also play at left back if needed, although his defensive skills are somewhat lacking.

13. Fabiano, 23

Da Silva's Brazilian understudy. The young South American right winger has pace and workrate, but will need to work on his technical skills in order to challenge our Portugese first choice. He is competant in many other positions and may see himself being utilised as a utility player if many injuries occur.

15. Michele Maggetti, 27

Maggetti is a real athlete and box-2-box midfielder. Signed from Vaduz this season, he brings grit and determination to the middle of the park. Although the Swiss midfielder's technical skills may be poorer than some of his fellow team mates.

17. Enrico Schirinzi, 23

Quick, direct and hard working left winger. Will be a decent addition to the bench and a good back up for Perrier this season. Another player plying his trade in his home country, signed this season from Wohlen. His finishing and anticipation mean that he can also play as a striker.

22. Angelo Maria Dorsa, 20

A young Swiss defensive midfielder. He has a lot to learn and will only be used as back up for this Lugano side. Will start the season off in the Lugano U21 side to, hopefully, help his progress.

23. Andre Fabiao Viapiana, 27

Fleet-footed Brazilian playmaker. Viapiana is in his first season in Switzerland and is fighting for a place alongside Baldo or Maggetti in the Lugano midfield. One of the most technically gifted midfielders at the club. However his workrate leaves a lot to be desired.

31. Carmine Rocca, 20

The Swiss youngster has great talent and potential, but there is a problem. The Lugano manager favours a flat 4-4-2 and Rocca operates best behind 2 strikers or just off a main striker. Unless he can adapt to the formation or the manager decides to change during the season, he may find himself loaned out or even on the transfer list.

Strikers

8. Vincenzo Rennella, 19

The Italian youngster was signed from French side Cannes at the beggining of last season. His good form and goals caught the eye of the clubs Italian parent club Genoa and so he was off to Italy. However the Serie A side have been generous enough to loan him back for the season. A tall, quick striker who is good in the air and on the deck. He will be Lugano's main goal threat this season.

9. Ricardo Laborde, 20

Laborde is a very raw talent in his first season for the club after coming over from Colombia. A lightning quick striker with good dribbling skills and an eye for goal. He will have to work on all other areas of his game to make him a more rounded player. Can also play on the left wing, if needs be.

14. Pascal Renfer, 30

Tall, target man striker and club captain. In his second season for the club after scoring 20 goals in 25 games last season. The Swiss centre-forward is the clubs oldest out-field player and is starting to slow down. However his influence and penalty box awareness will still prove valuable this term.

19. Bruno Valente, 26

The Portugese striker has always played in Switzerland and is in his first season with Lugano after impressing for league rivals La Chaux-de-Fonds. A small, quick striker who knows where the goal is. He will be challenging Renfer for a starting place.

33. Fernando Russi Dos Reis, 19

The Brazilian youngster is the clubs 5th choice striker and will start the season playing for the U21 side. Dos Reis has great potential though. He is tall, quick and can score goals with his head or his feet. From inside or outside the box. Will be knocking on the first team's door sooner than later.

It is an honour to inspire somebody - really is! My Ternana story is for myself as well really, and it helps me absorb into the game if you get me!

Will follow - if you manage to turn Lugano into a CL side in the later stages then I'd be gobsmacked!!! ^^

Great start to the season!! All wins, but one which was a draw against Servette who are a strong team at this level. Rennella is on fire and Renfer looks like a good traget man alongside him. Unfortunately, Valente and Schirinzi are going to be out for a few weeks which will leave us short on attacking options from the bench.

BRING ON SEPTEMBER!!

To be honest, my update is more for myself. To keep track of my progress and therefore be able to look back on how my career has developed. However, if anyone else finds it an interesting read then great!!

I explained at the start what this was.

I would love to elaborate more on each game and a background story of what's going on, but I only get a little time to play the game - Nevermind, play the game, record the results and write a little story to go alongside that.

My honest apologies. I realise it's not a great read.

Well, we require a bit more. Not much, but a squad list and results does not fall under our classification of a story, hence why I'm going to close this. I suggest that if all you want to do is keep a track of your career then you should post a blog somewhere. If you want to write a story, then we'll welcome you with open arms, but we need more detail than you're currently providing.
