hozhoz
Okay been a player for years but have noticed a lack of development by computers of regens in past games. This lead to me having a few players who have developed fully to be the regen equivalents of Messi & Ronaldo, whereas the best player not developed by me was say equal to a Malouda I'm just wondering, being only 3 seasons into a game, do long-term games work on this edition? If anyone has any long-term (15+ season games) I would be grateful if they posted pics of any regens developed by the AI. Thanks
Hershie
I'm in 2024 and AI teams have some regen players I wish I could get my hands on. My players are pretty good too though. This long-term game is the best I've had since '07 at least, and probably my best ever. As requested, here are some AI stars. http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/8270/lemeur.jpg http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/2446/tommasi.jpg http://img199.imageshack.us/img199/416/kirkwood.jpg http://img269.imageshack.us/img269/1333/savino.jpg
hozhoz
Wow thank you, looks great. Made me excited to get into all regens rather than disappointed! Thanks for being so helpful. Wonder why they have so few caps though?

Hershie
Any idea on the caps? I think because of how good older players remain, it becomes harder for youngsters to break into teams. I've had a few players who just haven't been called up despite being world-class; but I've also had others get callups for major nations at a young age. For example, a winger I have (possibly the best in the world at his peak) only has 21 Spain caps by the age of 32. But, I've also had 17 year olds (a DR and a DC I can think of off the top of my head) get call-ups for Italy and Holland respectively. It's all a tad weird. hozhoz
Suppose it all depends on the nation, favoured players and their current managers!
mlindqui43
Once all the good players, Messi, ronaldo, etc retire and leave the playing game, then the game basically adds the better regens then... First great regen just surfaced in my game at 2013... usually is around the second world cup they start poppin up
Forkoid
There are plenty of top class regens in my game that have been trained by AI clubs. (I won't post screen shots, I haven't the time) What I will say tho is that in my game ( it's 2019) there is a distinct lack of free kick specialists in world football. I've a pretty comprehensive scouting knowledge at my club and I searched for a free kick taker with a 20 rating - nowt. 19 rating? Nope. 18 rating? 3 players. 17 rating? 20 players. davidbowie
I can confirm that FK issue. I'm in 2031, so basically every player is a regen (there might be a handful players who are older than 37, which is how old a 15 year old would be when the game starts in 2009). I can see the FK rating of 17,512 players (roughly 16,000 whose FK rating is not visible) the ratings I have are: 20/19 - 0. 18 - 4 17 - 14 16 - 37 15 - 86 Corner taking isn't much better: Visible Corner Rated players = 15,638. 20 - 1 19 - 2 18 - 1 17 - 12 16 - 47 Penalty Taking - 17,462 players have Penalty Taking visible 20 - 0 19 - 2 18 - 6 17 - 15 16 - 68 Long throws is roughly the same. Some other attributes: Influence - Looks much better. Only 1 at 20, but alot of 19's, 18s' and heaps of 17's. Pace - Seems to have about the same as corner taking. Only 1 player with 20, a few 19's. Jumping - 9 players with 20, 33 with 19, and so on. Alot of high stats. Finishing - Better than Pace/Corner taking, nowhere near as many as Jumping. Technique - On the same level as Finishing. I can understand the more technique/finishing type attributes (very few people in the entire world would get 20 for Finishing or Technique), but not so much the lack of pace, pace is one of the most raw skills that scouts can see and alot of people are fast. IF someone could check the raw, starting DB and see what it says, that would help compare the sets.
SCIAG
I think the regens are generated with too low a "home reputation". This stops them getting calls ups. It's the same with set pieces, in past versions there were too many players with high set piece ratings.
TheRealMagpies
With an income model based on annual patches to the original code & concept, longterm viability falls into the unwanted feature list from a marketting viewpoint. The Beancounters dont want you playing the game longterm, they want you upgrading EVERY 12 months.

davidbowie
With an income model based on annual patches to the original code & concept, longterm viability falls into the unwanted feature list from a marketting viewpoint. The Beancounters dont want you playing the game longterm, they want you upgrading EVERY 12 months. Some people playing dozens of 3 or 4 season long games with multiple clubs. I play one short game as Manchester United to get used to the game. I then move on. I play a couple of 20+ season games. One is taking a small club from the bottom of the English system to the Premiership/CL. The other is usually a huge career game starting in some random country in Asia or South America, and moving all over the world. I've always been able to do both before the next FM comes out. Why shouldn't regens or long-term games be left out? I've managed to play my current game for 47 days. My concerns are just as valid as someone who plays 3 seasons as Manchester United then Barcelona then Bayern Munich, then Newcastle, then Everton etc.
earmack
Long term games are viable and have been in every game (05 onwards). Sometimes standards fall but they fall universally. FM 08 was VERY bad for regens and yet I've had some wicked long term games on it. FM 09 regens dont have anywhere near the problems FM08 ones did so I cant see long term games being effected. ViG1980
Definitely not viable...I am 7 seasons in and have all the best 18 yr olds around and when another pops up, regardless of where he is (be it Barca, Madrid, Milan etc) I can easily get him as the computer AI does not realise their potential.... The other problem is that the AI transfer policy is totally ****ed....Man Utd buy about 1 average player a year in my game and are still playing Rio, Berba, Vidic and a couple of others who are over 35 and no replacements in sight on the bench or in the youth/reserve squads. They finished 8th last year.
JackDavies
I dont think the game is viable. I agree the transfer policy (man city aside) of the major buying forces in england stink. And by that i mean they simply dont purchase players. I also have been turned off in my 8th season with the lack of interest in my youths (17-21's) who are all world class potential players, yet championship sides dont want to loan them. Its so ridiculuosly unrealistic that it has turned me of fm completely
ViG1980
I am praying that CM is gonna be good so that SI have to get their arse into gear and get back to where they once were.
