iTry
You don't open the file, you place it into the skins folder: Win Vista: C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\skins Win 2000/XP: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\skins Win 98/ME: C:\My Documents\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\skins Mac OS X: /Users/<username>/Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2009/skins If it is in the .7z, .zip or .rar file format you will need to extract it using an archiver program. Get Winrar.

iTry
I think if you have successfully archived it and it still isn't working, you will have the actual skin inside a folder of the same name. Go inside the archived folder and cut the skin folder from inside the archived folder and paste that into the skins folder. If it asks you to overwrite the existing folder then just pick yes.
