haza555
Chelsea Football Club Version Started on: 9.0. Version Currently on: 9.3 Database Loaded: 9.0.0 Database Size: Medium Having seen the unexpected and frankly shocking departure of club legend Jose Mourinho, Avram Grant was chosen as successor until the end of the season, he underwent a successful period as Chelsea boss leading them to a spot kick away from the clubs first Champions League victory, only to see it slip away. Ultimatly leading to his expected though rather unfair sacking. A month on and movement was seen by Ibramovich who was widely expected to sign Luis Felipe Scolari on a 5 year deal. But shocking developments were to come and out of the blue on the morning of June 25th 2008 Harry Barker was handed the role of Chelsea boss. Headline News First Published: July 25th 2008 Barker takes Chelsea top job Unknown English boss Harry Barker has been appointed manager of one of England's biggest entities in a shock 2 year deal. This morning fans of London club Chelsea have been bombading phone lines of talk shows demanding anwsers from the Chelsea board room who have named Newcastle born Harry Barker manager of former back to back title winners Chelsea. Ibramovich is yet to comment but has apparantly made it clear to Barker he has his full backing and is willing to back him too, with a big budget of around 60 million pounds. haza555
Updated: Sep. 1, 2008, 5:22 PM UK ________________________ Chelsea end of market Transfer Summary New Chelsea boss Harry Barker has wasted little time in altering the setup around Stamford Bridge as he attempts to re-emulate the success founded by Jose Mourinho 2 years ago. He has signed 8 players thought to be valued at around 52 million pounds. The biggest of them being a 16 million pound move for Villarreal's Turkish attacking midfield man Nihat. Aside from this and the signings of Phil Jagielka from Everton and Ezequiel Lavezzi for a knock down price of 5 million from Napoli Chelsea's signings have mainly been aimed at the future, suprisingly as many feel this could be Barker's only chance at top flight management, and if he doesnt get it right he could be out the door. Names he brought in being, Davide Santon a promising full back from Serie A giants Inter, Relitively unknown Mascio from Cisco Roma, highly saught after Mamadou Sakho from Paris St. Germain, tricky winger Fausto Rossi from Juventus and wonderkid Mario Balotelli from Internazionale. The biggest shock of Chelsea's summer though remains the sale of fan favourite Joe Cole to Manchester City for 25 million. Manchester City spent the whole summer sniffing around Chelsea players and aside from this also brought in Wayne Bridge and Beletti, all 3 costing a total of 42.5 Million. The only other man to move out was Brazillian centre half Alex to Tottenham Hotspur for a price of 10 million. Chelsea seem to have gotten off to an okay start in the premier league only slipping up once in their 3 games to Wigan Athletic. But they still havent conceded a goal in their 3 games. Which has seen them beat Everton 2-0, Stoke 3-0 and draw 0-0 at The JJB. Your views on the story?
