SamRuff04
Hello All. This is my first ever try at an experiment I hope you all enjoy it. This experiment is very similar to vintages North-East alliance challenge, however instead of non league clubs from the north-east I will be experimenting with clubs from North London and Hertfordshire. I want to see whether teams from London can stand up to the challenge a little bit better than the teams from up north. I am going to be using Football Manager 09 patch version 3.0. I will be running all English Leagues and Load all English Players With a Large Database. I've placed a selection of non-league North London and Hertfordshire teams in Coca-Cola League Two. (Inc Barnet) All the teams in League Two just replaced the gap where the teams dropped out. The only thing I have edited is turning all the non league clubs into professional clubs. I have not changed any of their reputations. Here are the clubs (with reputation in brackets) Barnet (2550) Boreham Wood (1050) Brimsdown (150) Broxbourne (100) Cheshunt (650) Cockfosters (150) Enfield (350) Enfield Town (600) Hanwell (200) Haringey Borough (100) Harrow (900) Hemel Hempstead (900) Hendon (900) Hertford (200) Hillingdon (200) Kentish Town (600) Kingsbury London Tigers (100) Leyton (100) Northwood (450) Potters Bar Town (800) Waltham Abbey (450) Waltham Forest (550) Wealdstone (1050) Wingate And Finchley (550) I've only loaded the English leagues up, With all players from England also loaded to give it more realism. Some clubs don’t have managers so I will write about manager appointments. Ok, Now I will be looking to find out if the teams can establish themselves in the Football League when starting off with such a low reputation. Also the teams that get promoted (will it obviously be Barnet, Boreham Wood and Wealdstone because of there bigger reputation) will they be able to stay in league one. Also what of the teams that finish bottom of League Two, will teams suffer straight relegations? Also what players can they attract? I shall be including team reports of each of these clubs and what happens, featuring cup games etc. Also at the end of five seasons I want to compare my results with vintages to see whether London Clubs or North-East Clubs can survive better. Thanks For having a look anyone want to comment or have any suggestions please let me Know. Thank You Big Thanks to Vintage for a great idea!!! SamRuff04
Season 08/09 Summary The first season has come to an end and there are no surprises who won the league Two title. Barnet Fc cruised to the title winning 40 of their 46 games and going the whole season unbeaten. Boreham Wood and Hemel Hempstead have also been promoted to league One. Even though Waltham Forest finished seventh in League Two they managed to get promoted through the playoffs and secure their path to League One by beating Cheshunt 2-0 in the final. Whilst at the other end of the table sadly Broxbourne and Kentish town have been relegated, the question is will they be able to bounce straight back next year? Kentish Town were doomed to relegation from the start, due to not racking up a win in their first 15 league games. Broxbourne on the other hand were unlucky to be relegated on the last day of the season. Broxbourne lost 2-1 to Haringey Borough, whilst Kingsbury won 2-1 to confirm their League Two status next year.

Jimbokav1971
Hi Sam, I'm from N.London and a fan of lower league football so I am interested in this. One suggestion though..... When you are doing your updates, perhaps you could include featured, (N.London & Herts teams), in a different colour, so your last post would have appeared as follows. English League Round-upPremiership Winner - Arsenal Relegated - Hull, Fulham and Stoke Coca-Cola Championship Winner - Bristol City Also Promoted - Cardiff, Barnsley Relegated - Blackpool, Plymouth and Coventry Coca-Cola League One Winner - Leicester Also Promoted - Leeds and Peterborough. Jimbokav1971
It would also be good to be given some explanation as to why certain things happened. Barnet winning League 2 undefeated is no great surprise given the standard of opposition they faced. Broxbourne must always have been among the favourites for relegation with a reputation of only 100. Kentish Town being relegated should have come as more of a surprise given that they have a reputation of 600, (higher than 14 other teams in the league). Can I ask if this was related to them having a GK with a particularly poor aerial ability rating?
Jimbokav1971
Also interesting that Celtic managed to win in Europe, Arsenal won the Premiership & League Cup, and Spurs got in on the N.London jolly with the FA Cup. The other thing that we might benefit from seeing is the league table for any teams involved in the experiment.
Vintage
Arsenal and Spurs don't really count in the experiment, Like my north east teams, i didn't include Newcastle, Sunderland or Middlesbrough, I suspect we will see league tables for which leagues the teams are in, but they were all in League two to start with. So next year we'll have 4 in league one, 18 in league two and 2 in the conference premier. My predictions for your next season Sam. Are that Barnet will stay in league one while the other 3 clubs will go straight back down. Also two more london teams will go down from League two, With the previous relegated clubs going down the leagues further. Another thing fm08 was dodgy on was the conference north & south. Despite all my teams being top northern clubs, Some of them got sent into the C.South. Morpeth was one of them, Despite being further north than Newcastle. If any London clubs go down will some of them go into the North?
SamRuff04
Thanks for the ideas guys. Jimbokav1971 i will definately highlight the teams from North London however only the 24 that were in my experiment, Arsenal and tottenham are not really involved in this experiment. I will also be Doing a complete season update for each team for example what place they finished and how they did in the cups, However i didnt get that completed due to other comitments, there will be a team by team update posted either tonight or tommorrow morning. Hope your enjoying the experiment and thanks for all the good ideas.

Jimbokav1971
Sam, rather than doing each section as you are now, comparing attendances, league finished and the like with the other teams in the experiment, might I suggest that you do a smaller section on each club with a running comparison as to how it has developed. At the moment for example, if I was interested in WIngate & Finchley, (as my nearest club other than Barnet), then I see that their reputation has changed from 550 in 08/09 to 829 in 09/10. If I want to see why it has changed that much, (so basically if I want to see how they did in the league and cup competitions), then I have to go back and scroll through the previous posts and find the relevant one and then go back again. It's just an idea, but if you did 1 section for each club, then you could copy and paste the info for the next season so that a running comparison was easier, (a bit like Kipfizh does with the Bandits). Here's an example. Wingate&Finchley Reputation 08/09 - 550 09/10 - 829 Average Attendance 2008/9 - 608 2009/10 - League 2008/9 - League Two (13th) 2009/10 - Fa Cup 2008/9 - 1st Round, 0-4 Rochdale 2009/10 League Cup 2008/9 - 1st Round, 0-7 Burnley 2009/10 - St Johnstones 2008/9 - 1st Round, 1-2 Hillingdon 2009/10 - That way it would be easy for us to see why the average attendance or reputation had rusen in a particular year. The other thing which I woudl suggest, (which might or moght not be too time consuming), is to look at what events have happened at the club this season and comment on them. The sort of thing that you might include ith is a return to semi-pro status, (for any relegated teams), an increased scouting network, (as evidenced by signing foreign players by any of the promoted clubs), and stuff like clubs who have signed particularly high CA/PA players or who have gone into administration or who are have had a board takeover. SOmething else that might impact on success to a great degree is the introduction of parent clubs, so that's something else you might want to eep an eye on. All of these are stuff which I would expect to possibly see happening depending on what sort of abilities you have the chairmen. Anyway, interesting experiment. My predictions for nect season is that Waltham Forest and Hemel come straight back down, with Barnet doing ok and Wood escaping by the skin of their teeth. The relegated clubs from last seaoson will not all come straight back up despite their pro status.
