Adamw
2008-2009 - League Tables Division One The top 9 regularly switched places at the top of the league, but eventually, Leicestershire clinched their second succesive league title, defying the odds. Down the bottom, Yorkshire and Durham were in the relegation fight but Nottinghamshire are relegated. Division Two Despite Middlesex putting up a reasonable fight, Surrey were deserved winners on Division Two. Down the bottom, Northamptonshire are relegated, and we shall have to see what happens with Dorset in the play-offs. Division Three Cumbria are promoted to Division Two following their title win. The battle for the three play-off spots were much more fierce, Glamorgan just missing out. Down the bottom, it was between Hertfordshire and Wiltshire, Hertfordshire going down, while Wiltshire's fate will be decided in the play-offs. Division Four The title race went right down to the wire. Isles of Scilly looked to be in pole position, especially when they had beaten Merseyside in Liverpool. But then the Isles of Scilly went on a 4 game drawing streak. Along came Merseyside, and victory on the last day against Rutland secured the title. Play-Offs Division Two/Three - Devon and Cornwall met yet again in the play-offs, and it was Devon who victored. The other semi-final condemned Dorset to relegation after defeat to Herefordshire. Devon were the team that won in the final, which means they are in Division Two next season. Division Three/Four - Isles of Scilly, so close to winning the league, had their promotion dreams ended by Norfolk. Oxfordshire were beaten by Division Three's Wiltshire, desperate to avoid relegation. The final ended in all four teams staying in the divisions they were in, with Wiltshire beating Norfolk. Cups FP Trophy - Staffordshire 3-2 Worcestershire - meaning that Staffordshire will be in the Europa League next season. League Cup - Leicestershire 2-1 Somerset - Leicestershire completing an impressive double Challenge Cup - Isles of Scilly 3-1 Essex - It wasn't all disappointment for the Islanders, clinching at least 1 trophy. Europe Somerset were beaten 3-1 on aggregate in their Champions League qualifying match against Fenerbahce, meaning any European success would have to come in the Europa League. It didn't, their hopes ended by Portsmouth after a 2-1 agreggate defeat. Worcestershire, the other team in the Champions League, began with a victory, beating Valur 3-1 on agreggate. The next qualifier saw matches against AS Roma, and were beaten 8-2 on agreggate, to send them into the Europa League. A difficult game against Palermo ensured, and they lost 6-3 on agreggate. Hampshire were given a relatively easy draw against Metalist in their first Europa League match, but they were beaten on the away goals rule, after losing 1-0 away, it finished 1-0 after normal time. Hampshire went ahead in extra time, but in the 120th minute, Metalist scored to end Hampshire's European aspirations. Durham were also in the Europa League, but they, once again, went out at the first stage, a 1-0 defeat on aggregate to Rosenborg ensuring that. Warwickshire had qualified for the InterToto Cup, but they lost their match, the away goals rule proving their downfall following a 4-4 overall scoreline against Halmstad. Scotland's Coefficient is now 17.500, meaning that the team finishing 2nd will be in the Europa League as opposed to the Champions League. Those changed will occur the season after next. Here are the teams in Europe for next season... Champions League - Leicestershire and Worcestershire Europa League - Gloucestershire and Staffordshire InterToto Cup - Hampshire
corinthiano
Dissappointed with the season as we played a lot better in the last one. We had unlucky draws in Europe so can't complain about the effort there, but am not too happy with the league performance. Suppose thats what happens when you rely on Chambers and another rubbish player in the draw
