JoeCFC
Was he a free agent? Youngsters that have been without a club for a while usually retire.
lee50_11
i have them the same time every year unattached players who won't join me which are on my shortlist, they have WNT signs but are never signed
Robioto
- Was he at a club? If players can't find a club over a long period of time they can retire. - Did he have a severe long term injury? This can also force players to retire early.
AbsoluteGenius
I didn't take a screenshot, but I had a laugh recently when I played Canada with Argentina (it is the late 2020s). Almost all of their starting 11 were retiring at the end of the season. And they were all younger than 25. I figured it was because we beat them 3-0. deltablue
Saw a 19 year old who was about to retire, he was the only non-grey player for a very small national team (can't remember who, or even why I clicked on the team, often I do these things out of curiosity, they played in green anyway) and didn't have a club, not surprising as all but 4 technical stats were '1'. I guess these things are more logical with clubless players of obscure nationalities.
William.Hua
I guess this happens irl, but better not called "retire".
Raware
I think these players that are young and without a club for a period of time are 'retired' to free up room in the database for new regens to appear, to prevent the database over populating. MSCCG
its a problem with reputation that has been around for a while.
x42bn6
I dislike the fact they hang around for a while before retiring. If they're that young they don't announce retirement a month in advance. They simply drop off the face of the Earth. Higher reputation players announce their retirement - the others simply quit. hursty2
Just think of them not being retired more leaving for a better opportunity in a different line of work or going to uni. In other words use your imagination.
Kenco
There was a player recently, a goalkeeper aged 22 I think (can't remember his name) who quit football because he had fallen out of love with the game.
kipper#1
There was a player recently, a goalkeeper aged 22 I think (can't remember his name) who quit football because he had fallen out of love with the game. Shane Supple, our (Ipswich Town) 2nd choice keeper. Wants to be a chef!!! I released a youth keeper and he was a free agent for the rest of the season. The following season i was emailed saying he had retired.

Brian Shanahan
Yeah they are usually out of a club for a season before they retire. It is a bit of a pain when the very occasional good player from a small nation gets released from his itty bitty club but noone takes him and you find him a month before retirning, and then if you sign him you can't persuade him to stay in the game, even if you're Barca.
