FM08 Offical Celtic FC Thread: Challenger Of Europe?

Recommended Posts

End of my first season and its been a very good season, won league cup, the league with about 8 games to go and won the champions league!!! unbeliveable results consist of beating chelsea in quarters (1-1(away goals)), AC milan (5-2 on agg) and real madrid in final was 2-nil winner, think it was a bit of them having a few players supsended and injured but im not complaining:) already had the offer of bein man utd manager but turned it down!, also my key players of the season have been boruc, guilherme, ninis and doyle, with doyle gettin player of the champ league, but bad news is that all my young stars are now wanted by the bigger clubs, but il try not to let too many go, so all in all a brilliant season!!

1st season:

Won the domestic treble and finished 18 points ahead of Rangers. Star player was Samba by a fair distance. He was absolutely solid at the back and a constant danger at set pieces. Started off with a 4-4-2 formation but had a slight dip in form so changed to a 4-2-3-1 which worked pretty well and left me only beaten once in the league for the whole season. Didn't have such a good season in Europe as failed to get in the last 16 but qualified for the UEFA Cup where Valencia put me out in the Quarter Finals.

Hey got one question, Quinn retired in my first season and now in my third and still no sign of a new chairman, anyone had this happen and if so did a takeover ever happen? help please icon_rolleyes.gif

thats just happened to me, so does this mean there will be no big money takeover. boo.

does anyone else still play as celtic as its a pretty easy game but its fun winning all the time.

i'm currently mid way through the first season of my 3rd celtic save as the first game was pretty easy on the original game then i tried a 2nd game on 802 and it was boring but i'm currently enjoying my 3rd game on the weedgie update things are going well in the league currently played 16 won 14 and drew 2 both draws where agaisnt hibs. the champs league is quite challenging tho got through my group on a ball hair thanks to chelski drawing with zenit and marseille scoring a late winner to deny me my first away points in the champs league and ive got inter in the next round so i dnt see my celtic team going far in the competition this year.

my current 1st team is

boruc

mathieu mcmanus caldwell(who is amazing for some reason) donati

robson/malloney appiah brown g. barnes

samaras/VOH mcdonald

otheer major ins/outs have been

naka-10mil

naylor-2mil

bobo-1mil

walcott-loan

diego b.(the river amc)-85k

sackho-750k(coming in jan)

currently i have 18mil in the kitty so i'm thinking about brining in barzagli to replace mcmanus in jan as he has been awful in the big games and i'm also looking around for a new striker huntelaar could posibly be the man if i can riase the funds as those two would really transform my squad.

anyone recommend good players for celtic in patch 8.02 first season, weakest in defence?

DR: Chretien (spl) (Nancy)

DC: Puy... (spl) (Nancy)

DC: Samba (Blackburn, try and offer £1.3)

DL: Pineda (some Mexican team, try to offer £1.6m)

Both Nancy's players should be aviable for around £4m each

Boruc replacement

Just started my 3rd season as Celtic with patch 8.0.2. Won league twice, League cup twice and Scottish cup once. Big transfer moves have been Scott Brown to Newcastle for 12.5m, replaced him with Arshavin for 11m, sold Stephen McManus to Lazio for 10m and replaced him with Arturo Vidal for 7m. Team doing well, however have just sold Boruc to Blackburn for 11m and need a replacement! Boruc eccentricity was to high at 19 but struggling to replace him! Can have Rangers' McGregor for 3.2m but really dont wanna sign him! Any ideas on a good keeper?

Cheers

Costil should be very good in third season.

Also have a look at De Sanctis maybe even on a free iirc.

Also that GK from Lazio is great, i had him at Lyon but i forgot his name. Should be cheap.

Logan Bailly sometimes turns out great.
