I'm pretty sure it's 4 long term (season long) loans from domestic clubs other than that you can loan as many as you want from foreign clubs I believe but only during the free transfer/ loan signings window. Also you can get as many short term loans as you want.

You can only play 5 domestic loan players in the team at once but any amount of foreign loanees, as long as you have at least 4 domestic trained players in the squad.

I may have missed stuff or got some the above wrong.

Nice one JonnyG. Let me know how it goes in the play-offs.

Still top of the Pemier League after 12 games, but I've now drawn 3. For some reason I'm going 2 or 3 up and then conceding 1, and then another and finally the equaliser in injury time with monotonous regularity. I feel powerless to stop this, no matter what teamtalk I give. I've drawn 3-3 and 2-2 twice in recent games. It's annoying and threatens to derail my title challenge.

Still playing pretty well, scored 33 goals in 12 games onyl conceded 11. 2 Points clear of Man City and Liverpool in 2nd and 3rd respectively. I'm still quite confident I can win the title but it ain't gonna be as easy as I imagined earlier.

Neymar has 12 goals, 2 assists. Conti has 8 goals and 6 assists. Mouche has 6 goals and 6 assists.. Gubbels has 4 goals and 8 assists.

In the first leg of the play-offs fifth placed Burton beat second placed Cambridge 3-0, whilst fourth placed Histon secured a 0-0 draw with the mighty Gateshead, who finished third in the Blue Square Premier.

In the second legs Gateshead made home advantage count beating Histon 4-0 at The International Stadium to secure a place in the play-off final where they would face Cambridge who beat Burton 3-0 and then showed their quality from twleve yards to win the penalty shoot out.

So a day out at Wembley beckoned for the Tynesiders and they probably had the better of the game against Cambridge but neither Wesley Ngo Baheng or Declan Bunting could find the net and the match finished 0-0 after extra time. And it was Cambridge who secured a return to the Football League once again showing their skill from the penalty spot.

So it's a third season of Blue Square Premier football is on the cards for Gateshead but with the quality of their squad they should be aiming for automatic promotion this season. Hopefully both Shane Ferguson and Darren Lough will return for a third stint on loan, especially Lough who has shown he is a fantastic player at this level.

Are you playing with the new 10.3 patch or are you like me still sticking with the 10.2 patch for the duration of this save?

What tactic are you playing now? I've had success with 442 but better success with narrower formations such as 4132 or 433. Of course you need the personnel.

Currently 4 points clear of Man City at the top of the league. On 39 points after 15 games, scored 37, conceded 11. We're also through to the knockout stages of the Champions League, one group match to go and we only need a draw to top the group. I've been playing my squad players in Europe this season, they're good enough it seems.

We've been eeking out excruciating 1-0's of late. Dominating massively only to miss chance after chance. Then when one finally goes in it's backs to the wall defending at least for the last ten minutes or so. I've lost count of the number of one on ones my two poachers have missed in the last few games.

I'm on 10.3 now, playing with a 4-1-3-2 formation.

----GK----

LB-CB-CB-RB

----DM----

-LM-CM-RM-

---ST-ST---

Like that.

14 games into the new season and I'm second, a point behind top but with two games in hand.

Didn't really make any summer signings, brought in a new striker as back up to Bunting and Yoann Folley to cover for Nikolas and/or Gate. Ferguson has come bcak for a third season on loan but Lough turned me down to join Rotherham so signed a Northern Irish under 19s left back and he's played well so far.

Yeah 4132 is a good one, or was in 10.2. You're looking good.

As it stands, we're top of the Premier League after 33 games, won 23 drawn 8 lost 2, GD +50, 77 points. Our only real challenger is Man City on 71 points after the same numbr of games, +46 GD.

My remaining fixtures:

Home to Pompey (sitting 18th)

Away to Palace (sitting 17th)

Away to Boro (sitting 20th)

Home to Hull (sitting 16th)

Home to Fulham (sitting 15th)

Man City have:

Home to Sunderland (sitting 12th)

Away to Spurs (sitting 10th)

Away to Liverpool (sitting 3rd)

Home to Pompey

Away to Palace

On paper it's looking good but complacency has been my team's biggest problem this season so I'm not sure. Plus all my fixtures have teams battling against relegation so they'll be fiercely up for the fight is my guess. We really should do it but the next couple of fixtures will be vital.

I'll try not to.

Next game away to Palce, and another centre-half sent off for a professional foul, this time on 70 minutes. We were drawing 1-1 at teh time and managed to hold out thanks to a backs against the wall performance from my defence. Luckily Man City could only draw away to Spurs despite Spurs also having a man sent off for a professional foul.

It seems like the gods really want us to blow this title, two men sent off in the last two games, advantages given to my only rival for top spot. Luckily at this point my team seem to be made of sterner stuff and the bottom line is we're still 8 points clear with only 3 games remaining. Now I just hope I can survive the loss of both my first choice centre halves for the run in.

Heh, next game, 2-0 up at half time playing great away to Boro I give the teamtalk, don't get complacent, we end up conceding a last minute equalizer to draw 2-2. Meanwhile Man City go 2-0 up at half time away to 3rd place Liverpool. Liverpool then come back in the second half to level it 2-2 only to end up losing it 4-2. So a great result for Man City and a bad result for us still leaves a 6 point gap with 2 games to play. I just need a draw for the title, or for Man city not to win either game. Our goal difference is 3 better than theirs too.

Sunday game, Man City had beat Pompey 2-0 on Saturday so I knew we needed to draw at least for the title. Home to Hull, surely we can at least get a draw. Set the team up with the teamtalk "I expect a win" and we were dominating from the off, 70% possession and Hull weren't getting a sniff of teh ball let alone a shot on goal. Set the tactic to Control and after much door knocking my trequartista Conti scored a 20 yard screamer to put me 1-0 up. Nothing else till half-time. Give the teamtalk "don't get complacent" and sent my boys back out. We continued where we left off dominating the ball and after more huffing and puffing Neymar got the second after a breakaway. Skjelbred added a third soon after, another belter from outside the box. Ten minutes left and Hull are dead and buried. The title is surely mine.

So it proved. After 7 seasons of continual and speedy progression we were standing at the summit of English football. Gateshead the best team in England. A sigh of relief. But what's next? Knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid on away goals (lost 2-0 away, won 3-1 at home) I suppose that could be the next objective. Knocked out of the FA Cup by Spurs 5-1 was chastening, although I played my B team.

Let's finish the season first eh? Home to the Cottagers.

Season ends with a crushing 5-0 victory home to Fulham, with Mouche bagging a hattrick and Neymar and Conti helping themselves to one apiece. A fitting end to a triumphant season. So the stats then: Conti top scored with 28 goals, 21 assists and 9 MoM awards. Mouche scored 19, 15 assists and 4 MoMs, Neymar scored 22, 14 assists and 5 MoMs. Midfielder Gubbles claimed 10 assists, Skjelbred 7 assists and the rest was shared around the team.

So Conti was my top performer despite my Ass Man's claims that he's the second worst player in my team, after Mouche. Clueless fool. Might have to replace him. As for next season I should only have to tinker, unless a great player becomes available. I might see if I can replace Mouche at some point, excellent though he is, he's nearing the 30 mark and isn't going to get any better. Skjelbred didn't exactly pull up any trees though he did ok plus there's some dead wood on the cutting room floor, squad players who are never going to be good enough and should be replaced or refreshed, certainly those over 24 or so. I'll be trying to get top whack for then to give myself an even bigger transfer kitty (it's at £30M at present). I'm certainly not going to break the bank to sign players when my squad as it is should be good enough for next season.

I'm back into this game since i can't get into a save on 10.3 patch. Finished 2015/16 season in 3rd place, behind both the Manchester sides. Was a miracle considering my squad consisted of 18 players. Got £35m at the end of the season though, so I was able to bring in a few players to add depth. This was also helped by Chelsea going into administration and having to release some of their players. Currently in 2nd place come November of the 2016/17 season and will qualify for the next stage of Champions League if i manage to get something from Real Madrid at home. Still have the same stadium though which is quite annoying as I'm getting full attendance every game and have had the odd winter game called off due to having no under soil heating. Have a new chairman though, with the previous bloke stepping down and allowing a director to take his place. Think that happened 3 seasons ago though.

Thanks JonnyG, I've been a bit preoccupied myself lately. Also I always lose a bit of motivation after my first title win, often I start a new game but not this time I think. I ditched Mouche for a regen called Edwin Davids, a more physical, pacey striker who I'm playing as a complete striker. Plus I sold Grembocki and brought in another regen Luis Perez a strong all round defensive midfielder who can cover in defence.

We've played 7 games, won 5 drawn 2 and are 1 point behind Man City (who just bought Pato for 59M!). With Pato and Tevez up front they should be awesome, plus they've got Pjanic in midfield to pull the strings. They've got 9 players on more than £100,000 a week, with Pato on £200,000. My highest earner is on £60,000. They must be spending three or four times what we are in wages. I'm talking them up because I'm not sure we'll be able to pip them this season though I did beat them 3-1 in the Charity Shield.

Well I clearly didn't think so, none of them featured in my League 2 best eleven. I think Kris Gate might be ok, Wayne Phillips I would say maybe, but more likely backup for a title challenging side. Jamie Harwood I would get rid of. Try to get some replacements on loan if you can, Richie De Laet, Fran Merida, Francis Conquelin. They might be tough to get mid-way through the season.

Good stuff, did you manage to win the title?

We're now 8 points clear of Man City after 19 games ,they have a game in hand. The great thing is that I've only conceded 4 goals. 4 goals in 19 games, that's incredible right? I can't think why it's so good. I have a good back 4, I'm playing 443 and dominating most games but to concede so few...well I'm sure I'll concede many more before the end of the season.

New signing Davids has 13 in all competitions, 8 in the league.

No wonder you have only let in 4 goals your playing with 12 men lol :D.

I loved my Gateshead games making them into world beaters and in the end i got bored after about 12 seasons.

That was on the first two patches i have not tried Gateshead on the new patch but no doubt will come back to them in a few months.

I am probably biased towards Gateshead than the others though as they are a local team and if it wasn't for me being a Newcastle season ticket holder i would go to Gateshead games more often.

Congrats, I'm still in with a chance but after coming 2nd in my group (stupidly playing my reserves once qualification was ensured) I have to face the mighty Internazionale in the 1st Knockout Round, that could be tough.

I'm sitting pretty in the league though, 14 points clear from Man City at the top. I'm still unbeaten and have conceded only 7 goals in 23 games. I'm getting pretty complacent myself at the minute let alone what the players must feel. Barring a collapse of mythical proportions I should win the league at a canter although there's a chance I could loose some players still since the January transfer window hasn't closed yet. They don't seem that interested in moving though, we seem to have a fairly settled bunch here, even the squad players are knuckling down. Edwin Davids has been a star so far Scoring 16. Luis Perez my ball-winning midfielder has 12 goals, suggesting I should maybe play him in a more advanced role. Neymar has 11, Conti a slightly disappointing 8. I've been giving him some hard stares over his form recently.

In truth we're not really playing champagne football but we're just a bit too good for 95% of the teams in this league, even when we play badly. Since we play our best football against the best teams that means we have the record we have.

Lost our first game, home to Man U. Didn't help that all my South Americans were called up for qualifiers leaving me with a threadbare team, particularly up front. We put up a half decent show but went down 3-2, Pontikos who I have high hopes for up front was absolute rubbish, really let the side down. I'm really disappointed with him.

Well done Jonny, with the right squad you could easily go straight up again.

D-Day is coming for us with the away leg of my crucial Champions League Quarter Final against Inter. They've got 3 away goals so I need to win this game realistically. It's a tall order but I feel not one that's beyond my team.

Still well ahead of Man City in the league, 16 points although they have 2 games in hand, plus they're absolutely flying at the minute. They shouldn't catch us though, not unless we completely drop our collective arses.

Yes!

Totally dominated the game, albeit only 1 up into injury time, but my strikers just seemed to miss chance after chance, none of them played well. My defensive midfielder Perez scored the first from the half-way line after their keeper made an error of judgement. My German sub Target Man came off the bench to get the second and relieve my tension.

I needn't have worried about the two late goals conceded in the first leg as it happens, brilliant performance although I'm concerned at the no show from all of my strikers in such a key game.

Roll on the Quarter Finals.

We got Arsenal in the quarters and similarly to the last round we drew 1-1 at home and then beat them 2-0 at the Emirates, away day specialists in the Champions League it seemed. Semi Finals pitted us once more against English opposition, this time Liverpool. It turned out to be a bit of a stroll, we won 2-0 at home and 3-0 away. Not really that suprising the last two rounds' results considering I finished the season over 30 points ahead of both Arsenal and Liverpool.

The real test came in the final, which was against defending champions Real Madrid with C.Ronaldo, Benzema, Kaka, Gourcuff et al. I knew it was going to be nip and tuck and so it proved. We ended up winning 1-0 and entering the history books. Deserved winners I might add, we dominated possesion, shots on target and clear cut chances. We really have been the best team in Europe this year.

We ended up winning the title with 100 points, 25 clear of Man City and Man Utd. Edwin Davids got 26 goals, Neymar 19, Luis Perez 14 from DMC, Conti got 14 and provided 20 assists. It really was a great year for the 'Head. We only lost twice both times at home, once to Man U and then to Burnley near the end of the season when the title was in the bag and I was resting players for the Champions League.

I've just finished the season this minute and I'm wondering where I can go from here, I'll have a wee bit of a break and decide whether to continue this save or to start a new one either with Gateshead, or possibly Newcastle. We'll see.

Well done on your progress, try to get a few more short term loans in January to at least give yourself some cover. You never know there might be some real pearlers available.

Well, I'm a bit late joining this forum thread this year. Last year I along with an American gentleman Nick who was residing in Leeds wrote the book on Gateshead. He discovered the Bolivians whilst I found the French hiding in Reunion. Vaz, Farro and Ablancourt with a goal machine called Willy Robert were my greatest finds. And I'm pleased to say they still are diamonds for any lower league manager.

So I took over Gateshead and after back to back promotions have gained Premier League status. I must dip my hat in thanks ths year to Colnufc and Paul Di11on. Your advice on the loan market has not only aided the meteoric rise, but saved me a fortune in wages. I have to say my team could not take our league form into the cups, with the exception of 1 JPT trophy. I lost in pretty much every first round game going. Having said that 1 third round League cup tie away to Man Utd earned my club a cool million quid. The chairman had to invest £2.2 million to keep us stable.

I have had the usual council won't allow due to space messages on requesting ground expansion. But on promotion the club were forced to increase the ground to 16,050. The works are still going on reducing capacity to 10,000 for now. It also cost a cool £5,000,000 to build, with another £450,000 on upgrading both training and youth facilities.

So the stars, mostly loan stars, that got me up -

Yannis Tafer - a mindblowing 49 League goals in the Championship

Killian Laffont - He chipped in with 22 goals in the Championship

Silviu Lung Jr - £2 million, but what a keeper

Thomas Fontaine - a rock in defence

Josua Guilavogui - A mean defender with an awesome header, scored 11 from set pieces.

Jo Inge Berget - Man oh man, chipped in with 87 goals in three seasons, all whilst on loan.

Gaetann Bussman - great left back from Metz

Joris Delle - superb on loan for two seasons, Liverpool bought him from Metz preventing third loan spell

Kevin Van Der Steen - Right back from Feyenoord

Henri Lansbury - superb midfieder

Bruno Zuculini - Franco's little brother and a dynamo with a fierce tackle in midfield.

I cannot stress enough how good a player Tafer is.

So the Premiership beckons, and loans are finished with and buying is in. I've been given £11 million and £140,000 a week wages. I've bought all my players on 48 monthly payments, which never takes the fee out of your budget??? Also no limit, spend whatever you like.

In

Laffont - 12,000,000

Zuculini - 2,000,000

Lansbury - 2,400,000

Berget - 2,500,000

Upson - free

Dunne - free

Cohen - free

O'Toole - free

and in what I think is a coup Ronaldinho on a free.

I nearly got Drogba, but he signed for still Premiership Burnley. Admittedly both are getting on a bit, but.......

I cannot wait for the season to start and will update soon.
