hjfh
It was a sunny afternoon at the Luton Town club shop, big Luton fan Untitled User was buying a Luton baseball cap. "Hello sir. Will you want this in a bag?" said the lady at the till. "Oh one second my phone is ringing." Untitled Users phone was ringing. "Hello, Mr User." "Hallo, I am Mr Fatydinho with the Brail FA, I know it may come as a shock but we would like to offer you the Brail job." "You what!?" Untitled User could not beleive it. Untitled User was currently the manager at non league Berryhill Town. He had taken them from the Luton and District league to the Southern League Division 1 in 5 years. Was this enough to make Brazil want him? Was this a wind up? He was only 26! "You are having a laugh I take it?" Untitled User shouted. "No, No, we want you as National Manager. We have a plane waiting for you at Heathrow airport. Just accept the job and you will be on your way to Rio! We bekieve in you." Untitled User accepted the offer, his family and friends could not believe it when he told them. His Chairman at Berryhill fainted when he was told. Untitled User got on the plane to Rio. hjfh
Brazil appoint UNKNOWN English Manager Brazillians and worldwide football fans are in shock this morning. hjfh
After many a talk with the Brazillian FA Cheif Executive I left for a press conference. The Brazil Cheif Executive told me that he expected to see the World Cup return to Brazil next year. I was told that I would be judged by my choice of squad and their preformance against Croatia in a few weeks time. Press Conference Brazilian FA Cheif Executive: Please welcome the new manager Untitled User. Please feel free to ask me and Untitled questions. The Press: What made you appoint this Englishman? Cheif Executive: He has pride, passion, wisdom, knowledge of the game. He is young. He has guided Berryhill town to 6 succesive promotions The Press: Untitled, what are your goals? Untitled User: To win Brazil their 7th world cup! The Press: 7th? do you not mean 6th? Who will be your Captain? Untitled User: I will have either Cafe of Juninho Pernambucano as my captain. The Press: Do you think the players will like you? Untitled User: If they do they do and if they don't they don't. I don't care if they like me. The Press: Lots of Brazils internationals such as Cafu, Roberto Carlos and Rivaldo are all older than you and don't look like they will play internationaly after this World Cup. Will you be looking at younger players during friendlys? Untitled User: Yes I will. Brazil have many good young players such as Fred and Daniel Carvalho who will all get a chance in my squads. The Press: What is your dream job? How would you lke your future to be? Untitled User: Well I am one of the youngest managers in the professional game. I would like to stay with Brazil for as long as possible and then maybe go back to England and manage my boyhood club Luton or maybe manage a big European team. However I have to do well in this job first. The press conference started to repeat itself in the end. I did not have long till my first game as Brazil manager and decided to get into it right away and make a list of players I was to go and look at in the pre season. Robinho Fred Vagner Love & Daniel Carvalho Rivaldo Luisao Cris Ronaldo The above are players who need looking at just to make sure they are international class. I was pretty sure Ronaldo was but lots of people said he was past it.
hjfh
Untitled User thinks Brazil can win their SEVENTH World Cup Untitled User does not know anything about the country he is coaching. He yesterday stated he thought he could win Brazil a seventh World Cup. I woke up. I was staying in a posh hotel in Rio. It was my first full day in the Brazil job. I had to book a flight back to Europe to watch some of the Brazil players. Before that though I was to look at some of the experienced players in the Brazil league. To begin with I was to go and watch a Vasco match to see if the legend Romario was good enough to play at international level. I arrived at the São Januário ground to watch Vasco V Santos. I was not sure how the Brazilian football rans would react when they saw me. A few days back they had a world class national team coach and now they had an Englishman who had managed a never heard of side. My dream had been to get Berryhill to the league but that was impossible now. Vasco looked a good side. They had, had some good players play for them over the years, Juninho Pernambucano, Sonny Anderson, Gilberto and of course Romario. The game was very good with Vasco wining 2-0 with Romario scoring a brace. He was nearly 40 but was still brilliant. He was a definate contender for my Brazil squad. I spoke to him after the match about coming out of international retirement and he said that he would but did not think he had a chance of me picking him. Next I spoke to Santos's Giovanni. Once tipped as the next Pele I knew that he would be excellent backup for the Brazil squad due to his experience. He said that he would love to come back to international football if it was possible. The next day I flew to Moscow to watch CSKA V Torpedo I was to see how good Vagner and Daniel Carvalho were. More to come soon, I hope you are all enjoying it. PMLF
Interesting story! It's been a while since someone started a story about our Nat'l Team.
hjfh
My plane landed in Moscow. Russia was a very cold country, in winter it was sometimes -28 degrees celcius. As I got off the plane I was told it was 6 degrees celcius that day. One minute I was in sunny Rio and the next cold Russia. I wondered how the Russian footballers played in this cold all year round. Please excuse my bad spelling, there is a few things I have spelt wrong! I hired a car and drove to the Dinamo stadium where the city derby game between CSKA and Torpedo Moscow was about to take place. I purchased a ticket and sat on my seat. Vagner Love was starting as the only striker with Daniel Carvalho behind him in attacking midfield. The match was very good with the final result 3-2. Vagner had scored one of these goals and was awarded man of the match. He would be another contender for my squad, assuming that Ronaldo and Adriano were my first choice strikers at the minute Vagner would be the third striker. I would have to come and watch Daniel Carvalho in another match sometime as he did not seem excellent in this match. After watching the Moscow match I had to head straight for Greece to watch Olympiakos play AEK Athens. When I was on the plane I had a phone call from a man called Ricardo who told me he would be my personel assitant whenever I was at the Brazil FA headquaters. He informed me that Lyon defender Cris had fractured his skull and would be out for a few months. This was a disapointment, however Brazil have many talented centre backs. When my plane touched down in Greece I forgot that it was not going to be as cold as it was in Moscow and put my winter coat on! I was on my way to Olympiakos's stadium to see Rivaldo in action. hjfh
The Olympiakos match was interesting. 4-4 draw. Rivaldo scored a hatrick and he would be another contender. With just a week untill I had to name my squad I headed off to the Bernabeu to watch Real Madrid. I wanted to see if Ronaldo was still the Striker I had always admired and if Robinho was really as good as it is made out. Real were playing some Spanish thrid divison team. I felt sorry for the third division team, they were thrashed 9-0. It was only a friendly but they had tried there hardest. Ronaldo had scored a few goals with his strike partner Robinho scoring none. Ronaldo would be in my squad for sure but Ronbinho I would have to see again as he did not impress me. I had wanted to go and see a Lyon match but I had to go to Brazil and prepare to name my squad, on live TV!
hjfh
The week went very fast. It was the seventh of August and I had to name my squad. I was worried that the Brazil fans would not agree to some of my selections. The Brazilian FA had decided they wanted me to name the squad on live TV. I did myself a twenty three man squad list. I was allowed 26 but it is only 23 for the World Cup. The day flew by and at 7pm I had to go to a TV studio in Rio where I would name the squad. I was shocked to find out that Pele was hosting a one off special programme looking at Brazils finest moments. Of course, it was on that programme I had to name my squad! Hope you are all enjoying it. Like I said above, sorry about my spelling! Who will I name? Will I win my first match? Which player will I upset and be hated by? Find out in the next part of Brazil - We Believe in you!!!
hjfh
I was rushed into the studio. Pele made it clear he did not like me. "Oh you." Pele pointed at me. "Yes me!" The programme started and Pele went over the most recent World Cups, 98 and 02. He then introduced me and told me: "So, if you would like to name your squad." "Yes. Well let me just say, I have a 23 man squad and would like the players who have been left out to understand; This is not my World Cup squad!" I had a bad feeling that some people would not like my sq

hjfh
I announced my squad. I informed that I like to call up 2 players for each position. The Brazil Squad to face Croatia (friendly), Ecuador (WCQ SAM), Trinidad and Tobago (Friendly) Goalkeepers: Dida Julio Cesar Rodreigo Ceni Defenders: Cafu Beletti Juan Luisao Lucio Alex Roque Junior Roberto Carlos Midfielders: Juninho Pernambucano Rivaldo Kaka Julio Baptisa Ronaldinho Ze Roberto Emerson Gilberto Silva Forwards: Ronaldo Adriano Vagner Love Romario In my opinion that is the best squad possible. I would have called up Cris but he is injured. Now the squad has been named, time to fly to Croatia. Most of the players would make their own way there due to the high amount playing in Europe. What do you all think to my squad?
hjfh
Untitled User calls up Grandpa! Many Brazilians are pleased, others are shocked that Untitled User has called up a 40 year old to the Brazil squad. Romario has played many times for Brazil and scored many goals. He is the top scorer in the Brazilian league so far this season but people are starting to wonder if he is international class.
hjfh
Please note: The squad above is just for the Croatia game but I will use it for the other two games listed!
hjfh
When my plane arrived in Croatia I was informed that the Brazil squad would be training at a sports complex in the north of Croatias capital. There was a luxury hotel waiting for the squad as well! When I arrived the boys were already there. I told them all to rest and the next morning we would have the first training session. I think they all liked me and were looking foward to working with me. I had to choose a captain the next day as well. Cafu is the most likley but I think Juniniho Pernambucano could be captain as well. First Training session With just two days till the match and some of the squad looking very low on fitness there was hard work ahead. The first training session was going well untill I announced who was going to be the captain. My coaches informed me that Cafu, Juniniho Pernambucano and Ronaldo all thought they would do a good job. "So, time for me to tell you who will be captain for Wednesdays game. This will not neccesarily be my captain for competitive matches but certainly for this weeks friendly. The Brazil captain will be, Juniniho." When I said this there was anger in Cafu's eyes. "Excuse me Mr User but should I not be the captain. I have more experience than Juninho and I have been captain for some time now!" Cafu shouted at me. "Look Cafu, you keep working hard and maybe you will become captain again." I did not want to cause an argument. Cafu stormed off towards the rest of the players and slapped Juniniho Pernambucano on the back. Juniniho Pernambucano then grabbed the back of Cafu's shirt and shouted something in Portuguese. This made Cafu punch him, then Adriano ran over and hit Cafu. Then Kaka got involved. I wondered why Parreira had fallen out with Cafu!
hjfh
Second Training Session Before training that morning I asked for Cafu to meet me. "Cafu, you understand you were wrong in your actions yesterday?" "No but yeah but no but yeah but no because what happened was, was you told me I weren't captain anymore or something or nothin so anyway me and Kaka took on Junininho and Adriano and they are well whimps. Anyway Juniniho shouldn't be captain because he smells anyway. So shut up!" Cafu said back to me. "Cafu, I am not far from excluding you from my future squads." "Oh shutup you English person. You should not be Brazil coach! I am leaving." Cafu left, it is a shame as he is part of my plans. I hope he will come to his senses by September. I decided i would play a 4-4-2 diamond formation. I had decided who was starting as well. I hoped that this friendly would go well. Deep down, I was more worried about the World Cup qualifier in 2 weeks time. hjfh
Wednesday 17th Croatia V Brazil, International Friendly I announced my line up an hour before kick off. Dida Juan Luisao Lucio Roberto Carlos Emerson J Pernambucano© Ronaldiniho Rivaldo Ronaldo Adriano Will now go and play match! Detailed match report coming soon! hjfh
Brazil Line Up: Dida Juan Lucio Luisao ROberto Carlos Juninho Pernambucano© Emerson Rivaldo Ronaldinho Ronaldo Adriano Subs: Julio Cesar Roque Junior Alex Beletti Ze Roberto Kaka Julio Baptisa Romario Ref: Domenico Messina 1st Half I was shaking with worry. The match got off to a bad start when Lucio made a mistake allowing the Croatia striker to shoot. Luckily he missed. The game was going well, Rivaldo and Emerson seemed to link up quite well in midfield. At eighteen minutes Emerson passed to Juninho who passed to Rivaldo, who crossed it in to Adriano and GOAL! On twenty three minutes Prso equalised. The team played well in the first half. At half time I told the boys they can win this game. Due to certain managers only allowing there players to play 45 minutes I had to make a few half time subs. Ze Roberto on Ronaldinho Off Roque Junior on Lucio off Kaka on Juninho Pernambucano off Romario on Adriano off Vagner on Emerson off 2nd Half The 2nd half started well. We outplayed Croatia everywhere. Vagner Love missed a few easy shots. We looked certain to win when Rivaldo scored from a free kick in the 86th minute. We were unlucky when Croatia scored a goal in added time which was offside. I was no longer worried. I think I showed that I can make the Brazil team play good football. Final Score: Croatia 2-2 Brazil Prso 23 Adriano 19 Banovic 90 Rivaldo

I wouldn't call up Roque Júnior either. Your goalkeepers (Dida, Júlio César and Rogério Ceni) are well-chosen. PMLF
I would also suggest you to schedule a friendly against some very small opponent (Cuba, Haiti or Canada, for instance). Then you call up only Brazil-based players. It would be great for you to experiment players. This suggestion will only work well if you have the Brazilian League in your game.
hjfh
Thanks for the suggestion. I have Brazil's top league running so I will try that in one of the World Cup Qualifyers in October/November. Brazil have already qualified so I will treat them matches like friendlys. Vagner Love has only really been called up as Fred is injured. Romario has 20 influence on my game and with his age I thought he could be stand in captain. Hope you are all enjoying the story.
hjfh
With not long to go untill the World Cup qualifier against Ecuador and Friendly with Trinidad I wanted to contact Cafu. I managed to get his phone number and ring him. "Hello." "Hello Cafu. It is Untitled User, how are you?" "Fine. Got a bit of a cold. But fine." Cafu did not sound to happy. "Look, I rung to see if you would come back and play for Brazil against Ecuador?" "Only if I am captain." he shouted. "But Cafu, Juninho Pernambucano is captain." "Juninho is an awful captain." "Look Cafu. You have been stripped of the captaincy but you can still play for the national team!" I was desperate, Cafu was a great player. "I will see." Cafu hung up. The summer had gone quick. If I had been told at the start of the summer that I would be managing Brazil I would have been in shock. I was not sure who to pick in my next Brazil starting line up. If Cafu was not playing I would play Beletti at right back. Ze Roberto had player well when he came on in the second half against Croatia but Ronaldinho had been excellent on the left. I could move Ronaldinho to just behind the strikers but Rivaldo had done so well there. Whatever I did I knew there would be a few upset players though. A week before the Ecuador match I comfirmed that the squad would be the same.
LiverpoolSimplyTheBest
Seems like you may have upset a few fans when stripping Brazil legend Cafu off his captain status. However, looks like you're the manager so you choose who plays and who's captain etc. I'm thinking about starting my own international career from the start, probably with England
hjfh
Carlos Alberto Parriera new Conrinthians manager Ex Brazil coach Carlos Alberto Parriera has today been appointed new manager of Corinthians. Me and the squad did not arive in Ecuador untill the second of September. We went straight to the Modelo Stadium. The quick training session we had was not long enough for me to look at the players. The highlight of the day was that Cafu showed up. September 3rd, Ecuador V Brazil World Cup Qualifying South America. I told the team who was playing. We kept to the same formation used against Croatia. Starting Line up: Dida Cafu Juan Lucio Roberto Carlos Juninho Pernambucano© Emerson Kaka Ronaldinho Ronaldo Adriano Subs: Rogerio Ceni Belletti Luisao Gilberto Silva Julio Baptisa Rivaldo Vagner Love 1st Half My assistant manager Jario Leal had told me that he thought I should have started Cafu in midfield and Belletti at right back. I did not agree with him! I was not as nervous as I had been when we played Croatia. The match started well. Ronaldo was causing all sorts of problems for their defence. Twenty minutes in Delago was causing problems for our defence! Cafu walked by Delago and he dived! Cafu was sent off, Jario Leal went over to the ref to ask why, and got sent to the stands! Brazil Sub: Adriano off Belletti On On twentyseven minutes Juninho Pernambucano had a free kick, it went right to Ronaldo's head and GOAL!!!! Three minutes later Ronaldinho went on a run and crossed it into the box, Juninho headed it in GOAl!!! Three minutes after that Juninho had a free kick on the edge of the box, chipped it in to Belletti GOAL!!! At half time I told the boys how pleased I was. Brazil sub: Ronaldo off Rivaldo on 2nd Half The boys came out and player how they had when they went in. On the sixty sixth minute history repeated its self when Ronaldinho crossed it in to Juninho GOAL!!!!! I think I knew who would be man of the match today. On the seventy fith minute Delago scored for Ecuador. My heart was beating very fast, what if we lost!? Brazil sub: Kaka off Julio Baptista on I could not belive it when Lucio got sent off with five mintutes to go. The ref did not know what he was doing. Final score Ecuador 1 Brazil 4 Delago75 Ronaldo 27 Juninho Pernambucano 30, 65 Belletti 33 Man of the match: Juninho Pernambucano© Later that evening at the hotel we were staying at Cafu told me that he was sory for how he had acted. He accepted that Juninho was captain. We headed off to Brazil the next morning where we would face, Trinidad and Tobago. Trinidad had some good players, Dwight Yorke, Carlos Edwarda and Shakka Hislop. Many thought they had a chance of qualiying for the World Cup. hjfh
I flew to Spain to watch Sevilla play Sociedad. Sevilla had Fabiano, Adriano, Renato and Dani Alves all playing for them. I sat in my seat at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan stadium anticipating a good match. Dani Alves played exceptionaly well. Going forward as much as possible. Adriano was not quite as good and came off at half time. Renato was average and Luis Fabiano did everything but score. Sevilla lost 3-0. Dani Alves had a place in my next squad but I would have to look at the others again. In France Cris was back in training for Lyon and was going to play against Real Madrid in their Champions League group game. This match would give me the chance to watch Cacapa, Robinho and Cicinho as well. Or so I thought... Ring ring. "Hello." "Hi Untitled, Ricardo in Brazil here. Cacapa has fractured his ribs and Robinho has the flu." "Oh no. I wanted to watch them tonight as I have to name my squad soon." I said. I went to the match and Cris impressed me. Ronaldo scored a wonder goal for Madrid. Cicinho did nothing special and looked like he should be playing non league football. I would have to watch the next leg in Spain in December to see Cacapa and Robinho. But now I had to return to Brazil for a quick look at Brazilian players before I named my squad. I knew that it would be about my squad selection. Not many people were pleased with Luizao being included. I myself did not see any wrong in this decision. It was mainly because of Ronaldinho being injured I called him up. Lots of Brazilians wanted Nilmar in the squad instead. But he had only scored 5 goals in 24 games this season whilst Luizao had scored 18 in around the same amount of games.
hjfh
Press Conference Press: Will Juninho be captain. Me: Yes. Press: Ronaldinho injured so you choose Luizao as his replacement, even though there are players like Diego and Nilmar. Me: Luizao scores goals and I want to try different players before the world cup. Press: You still havn't qualified for the World Cup. How disapointed would you be if you ended up in the play off. Me: I can't see that happening. After the press conference I went to the training ground. The training session went well, Dani Alves looked very good playing in a training match. I told the squad my line up: -------------------Julio Cesar Dani Alves---Lucio---Cris---Roberto Carlos Mancini---Emerson---Juninho Ronaldo----Adriano

hjfh
First Half Excellent preformance. I couldn't believe it. One minute in Ronaldo was tackled and we had a penlaty. Mancini hit it straight at the keeper, it came back to Roberto Carlos, he hit it at the bar, it hit back to Juninho, he passed to Kaka and GOAL! Then Kaka scored again. Then again. The made a brilliant pass to Adriano and GOAL!
hjfh
Second Half Started with a bang. Juninho ran straight up the field and GOAL! The team dominated all the second half. The man of the match was Kaka for sure. At the end of the match I was leaving for my private jet and Cafu approached me. "You left me out of your line up. You have annoyed me..." hjfh
Cafu was furious. "I am a good player why should I not start, in fact why am I not on the bench?" he shouted. "Calm down Cafu. I just wanted to try other players thats all." "You have never liked me. Why an english manager? Why they appointed you! You strip me of the captaincy and now leave me out. This is not fair!." "Look Cafu. Think about how lucky you are to be in the team, you are 35. How many players are still in international squads that played at the 1994 world cup? I will play you in some games but if you act like this everytime you are left out you will not be in my future squads. Now get out my way I have to get on my plane. I will see you in Brazil for the Venezuela match."
hjfh
The Venezuela match was my best so far. Assuncao started and scored two goals. Ronaldo with the other. The match ensured we qualified from the tight South American qualifying group and that we won the group. I decided to go back to England for a few days and watch Berryhill town. Then maybe go and watch some Brazil based Brazilians. I could see the World Cup in my hands already.
PMLF
UAE and Australia are good opponents for the suggestion I made below (from the other page). <BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content"> I would also suggest you to schedule a friendly against some very small opponent (Cuba, Haiti or Canada, for instance). Then you call up only Brazil-based players. It would be great for you to experiment players. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
hjfh
After a few days break in England I returned to Brazil. My scout advised me to watch some of the Internacional players. He told me Sobis was on the verge of breaking into the Brazil squad.
