lurkingwithintent
Firstly it's running Ubuntu as the OS, and FM needs Windows to run. 8GB is barely enough room, once the OS and FM is installed and I'm not sure the processor or graphics card will manage it. El007
ok cheers mate could you recomend a laptop for under £300 that could run Football Manager 2010 in 3d??
lurkingwithintent
I wouldnt rely on my advice 100%...my laptop was £400 and runs FM fine...not sure if you are going to find one for 300. I'm not much of a tech expert so maybe someone else will point you in the right direction.

El007
Sorry I really am bad at computers.
mbchuz
did you not know what ubuntu is or something, find it a little strange that someone using that as an OS can't judge comp specs vs minimum reqs I think it's fair to say that judging by the computer in his first post he doesn't know much about anything computer related (that's not an insult btw...) I think first things first- is it essential that it's a laptop, or is a desktop ok? Because you'll get twice the bag for your buck that way...but if portability is essential then you'll be pushing it to get a good laptop for
El007
Ok I agree I know nothing about computers, If desktops are cheaper that might help but it might not fit in my room (stupid big sisters always getting the big room) but if it was small enough. mbchuz
Unless you live ina cage, a desktop will fit in your room. They're not THAT big Only thing is that then you will need a desk or something, and if you don't have one already that's another cost to factor in. I'd advise a desk anyway for a laptop if you want kids in the future! -Anyways... You want Windows 7 as the OS, nothing else. Whether you buy that or find a more ah...'cost-effective' solution is up to you and not open for discussion here -You want at least a dual core processor, at least 2ghz. -You want 4gb of ram, but anything over 2gb would be alright (just make sure it's good stuff- go for 2gb of quality memory, rather than 4gb of budget junk) -You'll be wanting a dedicated graphics card in there. FM isn't all that graphics intensive, so most current video cards should do the trick. -Hard drive isn't all that important really. If you don't plan on storing heaps of stuff then anything 200gb+ will suffice forever. They're so cheap these days though that it wouldn't hurt to go for 500gb (again, go for speed/quality over capacity, and the cost of these is greatly increased in laptops) Have a play on Dell, eBay, etc with those in mind and see how you go
El007
Cheers man, alnough I dont think I'll be having kids anytime soon. I'm 12 Lol. Yeah I just wanted this for a Xmas Present. How much do you estimate all that would cost?
mbchuz
Don't know if you're an anti-eBay type, but this one here is a monster machine by your standards: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/AMD-X2-5600-5-4GHZ-DUAL-CORE-500GB-HDD-4GB-RAM-DESKTOP_W0QQitemZ120465986054QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_DesktopPCs?hash=item1c0c551206 Plus it leaves you a bit left over to pick up a cheap monitor and keyboard/mouse to see you through til your birthday I'm not saying that one in particular is the way to go, but just to give you an idea of what a good desktop costs. There are some real bargains on eBay when it comes to PCs and if you're on a tight budget I highly recommend you shop there eg. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Desktop-Computer-Fast-Dual-Core-Athlon-X240-4gb-160gb_W0QQitemZ170403473824QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_DesktopPCs?hash=item27acd6a9a0 http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CORONA-AMD-DESKTOP-PC-COMPUTER-500GB-4GB-QUAD-CORE_W0QQitemZ300348967743QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_DesktopPCs?hash=item45ee318b3f
