Nobby_McDonald
2020/1 - Northampton Town (League One) Board: Fight bravely Media: 21st Bookies: 50-1 Season tickets: 2690 (up 19) A new stadium sponsorship deal is signed for 4 years, worth £231,000 per season. The chairman then loans the club £300,000 before selling Remco Hendrickx to Aberdeen for £650,000 (£300,000 of which will be paid over 48 months). A worse start than last season firmly roots us in the bottom four and it looks like it will be a long, hard slog. We change tac(tics) and spark into life, including beating fierce rivals Rushden & Diamonds 3-0, and we reach mid table by halfway. Come the start of Spring and we're making a push for the playoffs. This push becomes a charge and a 1-0 win in the return derby at Rushden puts us two points behind the playoffs with five games to play... ...we miss out due to Bradford City winning on the final day. Nobby_McDonald
2021/2 - Northampton Town (League One) It's Northampton Town's 125th year... Board: Respectable position Media: 10th Bookies: 33-1 Season tickets: 2823 (up 133) A new kit sponsorship deal is signed for 4 seasons, worth £127,000 per year. I also sign a two year contract extension to 2024 on £975 per week (up £400) We make a worse start than last year, it takes us eight games to win our first match. So much for last season's strong finish and pre-season optimism. Things improve, again after beating Rushden at home. Significantly. By halfway we have improved so much that we have reached the fringe of the playoffs. Our push continues as things close up at the top of the table. After 34 games we are 6th and only 7 points seperate leaders Oxford from 10th placed Chesterfield. Only one defeat in our final 25 games leaves us needing a draw to go up in our final game at home to Swindon, who need to win to have a chance of staying up. We win 1-0 and are promoted to the second tier for only the second time in the club's history. A fitting way to conclude Northampton's 125th year which also saw us lift the Eidos Suck Arse I Don't Give A Monkeys Trophy. It is also a fitting end to our club captain's career. John Mousinho played 320 league games for the club and won the only trophy of his career in his final year.
