[FM10] Football Manager Makes Me Curze

Thank you everybody. :)

Next season will be a test, no doubt, but with the run we had to close this past season, I'm confident of staying up. Keeping Wordsworth will be key, as well as Evans who would have been Young Player of the Year had he been a year younger. If Innocenti can reproduce his form of this season, where he played miles better than he ever had before in his career, that will go a long way too.

And yes... nice to see Billericay come up. Who knows when I will manage them next..?

Off goes Mohammed Sanogo, my goalkeeper who got capped for England under 21s. With his contract up in 12 months and he wanting to move to a bigger team to further his career, I sold him to Leicester for £1,100,000.

I've signed six players in total, a couple of whom are in midfield to replace Mousinho who retired and Bray who was on loan last season. The last deal was to sign Bray himself, I actually spent some money... £150,000 :D

I also signed Federici who is now 37, but he will add some needed experience at a higher level and will allow my young goalie who should make it at Championship level another year of development first.

Wordsworth is still here. This season will be his first big test. In his three seasons of his career so far, he's already played in 122 league games.

Neither was I :D

Think my finger slipped. Or the game lagged. Matches are being processed in the background when I set up the team pre-match, which means there are horrible lags at times. I've also disabled the confirm popup when going from the setup to the match, so I'm screwed if something goes awry. It did that time :D

With two games left of the season, I've been approached by another club and been made a very tempting offer.

I asked if I can delay my decision until the end of the season. Fortunately their new chairman has agreed.

Will this season be my last at Northampton..?

All depends who the other club are.

The offer is irrelevant to me as the money isn't real, unless SI are going to start paying me a wage!

I wish I could be approached for a job. I don't recall being approached once in my current save.

If I do change clubs, it will be my first move in this save that I haven't actively sought.

The playing season is over, the end of season is near. I might get to post it all tomorrow, if not it's going to be as late as Monday.

I've 98% made up my mind what I am going to do by the way.

2021/2 - Northampton Town (Championship)

It's Northampton Town's return to the second tier...

Board: Fight bravely

Media: 24th

Bookies: 50-1

Season tickets: 4444 (up 1621)

It's a dream start as we winning 3-0 at Plymouth on the opening day and follow up by beating Crystal Palace 2-0 at Sixfields. It continues and we don't concede our first goal until the fifth game, at home to Norwich and our first defeat comes in match seven, 2-1 at Leeds. We're well up the table and pinching ourselves.

As the season takes shape properly, we are comfortably in the top half of the table and very much holding our own.

By the halfway point we already have 39 points and lie 8th. This is superb stuff.

With ten to play, we're still suffering from vertigo and still have a chance of one of the most unlikely playoff appearances ever. The season has gone so well we are already safe from relegation.

A bad finish slightly takes some shine off an excellent season.

At the end of the season, the chairman of a club who had sacked their manager with two games to play came back to me. While it was hard to leave Northampton after having such a good first season back in the second tier, the opportunity to both manage a considerably bigger club and also earn more than twelve times my salary at Northampton, I packed my bags and left for the North of England.

The tease is over... and Cardio and Monkey will be pleased.

In April 2023, Antoine Veyrat led a French based consortium and took Sunderland off Niall Quinn's hands. It took him a mere nine days to sack Richard Naylor and from there an offer came to me for two years, earning £12,000 per week to take the reins.

I wanted to finish the season with Northampton, so managed to negotiate making a decision until the end of the season.

I've enjoyed the time at Northampton, but I'd be a mug if I were to turn down a twelve fold increase in salary and a much bigger club.

The Stadium of Light, Sunderland holds 48,300 (all seated) with under soil heating, good corporate facilities, good training facilities and good youth facilities plus academy.

There is one sponsor, a 4 year kit deal worth £989,000 per season which ends after the coming season.

Four gift loans of £90,750,000 in total will be paid back when the club is in profit. There is also one bank loan of £2,900,000, to be paid back at £12,250 per month until April 2048.

The club is ranking 127 in the European rankings, having gone up 3 places despite not playing in Europe since 2012.

Transfer market has been relatively quiet so far. The club's best player, Steve Irwin had already agreed a Bosman move to CSKA Moscow before I came in. I have signed two players, both from Northampton - Matthew Bray for £425,000 and Bob Evans for £950,000. Clearly Curtis Davies, who was promoted from Coach at Northampton, values Lloyd Wordsworth as highly as I did, as he's holding out for a lot more money than is left in my transfer kitty.

I need a goalkeeper, but attempts to sign one thus far have been fruitless.

Monkey won't be dancing if I get them relegated. :D

Scoham - I guess parts of the ground was closed as they couldn't afford the upkeep.

Thanks LCFC.

Pre season has gone... very badly. It doesn't bode well for when the real stuff starts again...

Really enjoying this career so far. Keep it up! :)

Thanks Whitesox.

Saw a lovely little touch earlier. Was playing a home match, I forget who against. My right midfielder/winger had scored two and we were awarded a penalty. The usual (and assigned) penalty taker, a striker who is my top scorer, steps aside and allows the right midfielder/winger to get his hat-trick.

Not long until the end of the season now. Hopefully I'll be able to update tomorrow night, but it's more likely to be later on in the week.

Nice climb through the league Nobby. Building up Rep as you go. 48,500 is always nice for support and should generate loads of cash to take sunderland forward.

Good job you never took the Newcastle job. I have had two games with them and never do well.

Great save :) gonna go back to the beggining and have a good read.
