the edge Posted November 10, 2009 Share Posted November 10, 2009 One of the points is that by having a specific youth coach, you can relieve your other coach(es) of having too much workload. But in principle, if you make sure the stats (e.g. "Working with younsters") and the workload is the same as if you had a youth coach, then there's not necessarily a significant benefit to having a youth coach. You can also see that most small clubs don't have specific youth coaches. But take a look and search in the Tactics and Training forum. I believe that question is very common and someone surely has more answers in there. Plenty in-depth studies have been done for FM09 and no one was able to establish that specialised youth coaches offered any advantage beyond a lower salary.
