dominicf
I'm hoping to keep a veteran player on the field for a few more years. I know he's going to announce his retirement soon. He's now a qualified coach. If I offer him a new contract as a player/coach, do you think that makes a difference as to how long he'll play on? Or will he simply announce that he's giving up playing to concentrate on coaching? Cheers.
rinso
I dont think it will make any difference, he'll stay as a player until he feels ready to quit, regardless of if he's coaching or not. edit: I forgot, you can always ask him to "reconsider retirement" if you feel you need him/he's got a few years left in him
Tez01979
Well i've see a 48 year old player in the game - can't remember his name, i was given an option to scout him from my backroom staff. He was a coach as well. i think though that players retire when they feel like it
