f0rmat
So, the arrangement in Serie A is that only 2 non EU players can join per season, correct? Yet I see Juve, this season bought in at least 3 non EU players, with another one coming in Jan. Inter have bought in 5. Is this a bug or am I missing something here? Cheers. Tomer
I think the rule is you can only sign 2 non-EU players from abroad per year. You can buy all the brazilian players playing in Italy, but only two from outside Italy.
f0rmat
Ah. That makes sense. Thanks
f0rmat
No, this isn't right. Inter have signed - Cavalieri (BRA) from Liverpool Coutinho (BRA) from Vasco Dida (BRA) on free Michael Chretien (Morocco) - AS Nancy Lorraine Demichelis (Argentina) - Bayern Munich. All in one season. That's surely not right?

ASTOTTI5228
Dida, Demichelis, and Cavalieri have obtained citizenship in European countries. Actually i think all 3 are Italian Citizens. Those three aren't considered to come from outside Italy. This system in Italy is tricky though, it's so much easier to load up on players when you play as an English team. In Italy, you have to make one of those non-EU players are pretty important either to your present or future. You don't want to waste one of those spots on someone coming to your team on a free transfer.

All in one season. That's surely not right? Are you trolling? Demichelis is one of many (many) Argentinians with Italian descent and so is Cavalieri (although Brazilian born) Michael Chretien was born in France Dida played since 2002 in Italy for consecutive seasons (meaning he received citizenship) Finally Coutinho was bought before he turned 18 (the minimum age requirement for buying Brazilian players) and so counted for the year he was bought
RBKalle
It's just ok. Even in the case all those players were indeed non-EU citizens, without double nationality or assimilation, it would have been fine. Cavalieri (BRA) from Liverpool ---> signed from EU Coutinho (BRA) from Vasco --> signed from non-EU #1 Dida (BRA) on free --> not sure how that works, but let's say he's non-EU #2 Michael Chretien (Morocco) - AS Nancy Lorraine --> signed from EU Demichelis (Argentina) - Bayern Munich.--> signed from EU So, even considering Dida as a non-EU signing [and I'm pretty sure he already counts as EU signing, as he played in Italy before being a free agent I guess], the rule of 2 non-EU signings has been complied with. The rule is, as said, 2 non-EU players signed from non-EU nations.
Tomer
Just for clarification, in my game the rule says 2 non-EU player from abroad, not from non-EU countries. Cavalieri, Chretien and Demichelis have EU passports (It, Fr, and It respectively), so they don't count as non-EU.
f0rmat
Apologies, and thanks for clearing that up, I suppose I should have looked a little harder- Chretien is declared for Morocco in my game btw.
