hursty2
12/08/2009, 21C. Ireland VS Australia, Thomond Park, Limerick. INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY Attendance: 11901 AUSTRALIAN STARTING LINE-UP -------------------Schwarzer------------------- ------------------------------------------------- Wikshere-----Moore ----------Neill----Chipperfield ---------------------Valeri---------------------- Bresciano----------------------------------Kewell ---------------Cahill--------Culina--------------- ------------------------------------------------- --------------------McDonald-------------------- |Ireland| |2 - 1| |Australia| Robbie Keane 10' Scott McDonald 41' Carl Valeri OG 73' HALF TIME SCORE 1-1 Not very pleased about this result to be quite honest, especially the way in which we lost today was poor. We kept giving the ball away in the final third and then poor marking from the centre backs would let Robbie Keane run rings around them. Valeri was my worst performer, not only for his own goal but for his foolish passing and all round work rate. One positive from the game though was Scott McDonald's goal which was a 25 yard strike just right of the 'D', the ball firing into the bottom corner. Selective Personal Ratings Schwarzer - 7; pulled off some stunning saves but also lacked command in the box when coming for some crosses. Wilkshere - 6; very disappointing performance from someone I expected to do well, although I'm not reading into it too much. Kewell - 6; maybe age is getting to the old man and playing on the wing is not right for him anymore, perhaps a change in position is needed. Cahill - 7; a good composed professional performance here, just didn't get the service he needed from the other players. McDonald - 8; particularly impressive performance, with a particularly impressive goal which only seemed to spur him on as he looked threatening whenever he got the ball. hursty2
05/09/2009, 24C. South Korea VS Australia, Seoul Stadium, Seoul. INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY Attendance: 48891 AUSTRALIAN STARTING LINE-UP -------------------Schwarzer------------------- ------------------------------------------------- Wilkshere-----Moore ----------Neill----Chipperfield ---------------------R. Williams---------------------- Holman----------------------------------Carney ---------------Cahill--------Kewell--------------- ------------------------------------------------- --------------------McDonald-------------------- |South Korea| |2 - 2| |Australia| Baek Ji-Hoon 15' McDonald 1' Lee Chun-Soo 90' Kewell 39' HALF TIME SCORE 2-1 A reasonable result against a decent hard working side here a last minute goal denying our victory. McDonald again stood out as did Kewell who I had moved to a different position this time to good effect. A poor show from the defence again which is something I will be looking to address, and as of yet I haven't found a proper pairing for the central areas. Only the time it takes for a baby to be born now until the World Cup and I am already feeling the pressure to progress through the qualifiers. Raware
Good to see someone else having World Cup fever . Not a great start though against teams you probably should be beating. Any chance of a recall for Viduka against Croatia? Haven't the Aussies already qualified for the World Cup?

Yeah in real life they had before anyone else but in game I have two games I think, unless they're just Asian Cup Qualifiers.
