thezogsageordie
Fall from grace experiment - Newcastle United As a long suffering Newcastle fan, I'm aiming to 'give youth a chance' as it were, but with a spin. Newcastle's facilities are well known as being among the best in the country, a breeding ground, if you like for top talent, local and not so local. For example, Andy Carroll, local lad and Steven Taylor, not so local (actually born in Greenwich, London, as was I , but moved to Newcastle and has been a part of Newcastle since the tender age of 9). Have you ever wondered what would happen if Newcastle, a massive club that's just been relegated to the second tier, was then placed in the Conference North (sixth tier), released all players that were aged over 21, and could only use the under 21 players, originally at the club, players coming through the excellent youth facilities and loanees? I'm starting this as a career game, so please be patient, I will update every season with what has happened, best players, how we have done, etc. Database changes I have, replaced Newcastle in the Championship with Northwich, the side that finished 22nd in the Conference, therefore Newcastle finished 22nd last season in the Conference and Northwich finished 18th last season in the Premiership. I have removed all players aged 22 and over from the Newcastle squad. I have not altered Northwich's squad. I have also not altered anything else from Newcastle's squad, the budgets, finances, staff, facilities are all the same. Although at the start of the game the Wages are £27,096pw, the Wage Budget is £35,500pw and the Transfer Budget is £300,000. Aim To win the Premier League and Champions League using only players that are developed through my Youth Academy (plus one loan!). Things to take into account Age is a massive factor in football, just look at Arsenal, probably one of the best teams in the country, just not old enough, this can be taken as a bad thing in the first few seasons but give them time and after five seasons the 18 year olds will be 23 year olds but with 5 years experience, instead of a player that was brought in at 21 and by the time he's 23, he has 2 years experience. It can be seen as either way, hopefully the players will mature quickly and can flourish! Rules No bosman signings. No contract offer signings. No purchasing players. One Loanee is are allowed (under 23). No feeder/parent clubs will be requested. Predictions Please feel free to make your own predictions First Season League: Winners (Conference North) FA Cup: 2nd Rd Second Season League: Winners (Conference) FA Cup: 2nd Rd Third Season League: Automatic Promotion (League Two/Old Third Division) Lge Cup: 3rd Rd FA Cup: 3rd Rd Four Season League: Automatic Promotion (League One/Old Second Division) Lge Cup: 4th Rd FA Cup: 4th Rd Fifth Season League: Mid-Table (Championship/Old First Division) Lge Cup: 4th Rd FA Cup: 4th Rd As you can see I think we will be promoted every year until we get to the Championship, which by then will probably be full of a few good quality Premiership sides, we'll have to see how we do against them. Men against boys? Please note, in regard to predictions, other cups, such as JPT are not deemed as important and will, therefore, not be predicted, although winning it wouldn't be bad, I suppose

m1234566778
I think you'll make it back up to the Championship easily, if you can keep hold of your young players. Kadar, Donaldson etc should rip the lower leagues apart.

m1234566778
I wouldn't mind starting a save like this. Have you managed to keep all the young players? And have you decreased the rep?
thezogsageordie
I wouldn't mind starting a save like this. Have you managed to keep all the young players? And have you decreased the rep? It's quite easy to setup. Well, I'm at start of September and nothing has happened so far I didn't want to decrease it, wanted to effectively put Newcastle into a different league as if it was IRL. Like Juve.
m1234566778
I'm enjoying my Marine save but once I get to the end of my first season I may set up a save like this. Would be good if there was a thread where we could report on our progress? (Not sure if here is good as it's your experiment thread)
NeoAC
Heck I'd be interested to see how long Northwich can delay its fall back through the standings as well.
thezogsageordie
Heck I'd be interested to see how long Northwich can delay its fall back through the standings as well. I will include their progress, or lack of as it were, in my updates.

thezogsageordie
Could you make a challenge thread for this? I think it would be very popular. I'll do it now. EDIT: Just to note that I am going to upload the Newcastle database. With Northwich in the Championship.
thezogsageordie
Season One Update In a word: Easy. Not that I thought it would be hard, we suffered two defeats all season and, amazingly we could not beat AFC Telford home or away! Yet I beat every other team in my league both home and away. Conference North FA Cup FA Trophy Andy Carroll Ryan Donaldson Loanee Transfers "]Best Youth Prospect First Team - SS taken this Season but haven't bought anyone in and hardly anyone has left, except Gibson, as you can see! Predictions First Season League: Winners (Conference North) ✔ FA Cup: 2nd Rd ✔ Predicted both correctly, although I feel we could've gone further. The Board have agreed to upgrade my Youth and Training facilities too . Finances Profit for the Season: £18,420,078 Balance as at July 1: £44,453,609 Nice Balance although it doesn't really effect us, apart from facilities. Northwich "]Championship. Oh dear. Even the signing of one Malcolm Christie wasn't enough to keep Northwich up, although I think they would have needed a lot more then Christie, something along the lines of a bottle of viagra.
