One of the more gifted players in the team would always be shouting every 2 minutes 'spread out, you are all bunching, why does everyone of you need to go towards the ball' This can also be said of FM 2010 if you don't select wide play. Even on a zonal marking system which I currently play, most of the players (oppositon and mine) tend to be bunched together in a v small area. That said, compared to wide play, the goals are just flying in. Which begs the question, is there any point in playing wide, since in virtually every pre match report I have seen so far, it always says 'wide players will struggle to make an impact'. jakobx Posted February 15, 2010 Share Posted February 15, 2010 Yup...playing wide is not exactly a winning strategy in FM09. I gave up on playing with a classic 442 formation and started using a highly aggressive version of a 4-1-2-1-2 formation. I even won the champions league with it.
