Rio_V
Well, get ready for Ledley King next to Terry.
Splendifornia
Alright, one unfit towering DC on each side.
Ceching You Out
I might be the only one, but I think we can play without Altidore. Preferably go 4-5-1 or 4-4-1-1 with one of Gomez, Buddle, or Findley pushing the line, Dempsey in the hole and Donovan, Torres, Bradley, Holden/Beasley in the midfield. I actually think that might be a more effective formation against England, with the midfield width maximizing midfield cover on our flanks. Ferdinand missing is a boon for us, means England will be looking at either an internationally inexperienced CB (Dawson) or Mr. Glass (King). Either way, whoever fills his shoes will be in unfamiliar territory partnering with Terry.
bflaff
Hang on fellas. I'm sticking pins in these voodoo dolls as fast as I can. One down, 22 to go before the 12th.
Splendifornia
Listed as a flat 442. Clark partnering Bradley and Buddle, Findley up top. Really hope we aren't subjected to that hokey Afrikaans-accented voice-over at the beginning of every broadcast. You know the guy on the Animal Planet who wrangles all the snakes in the serengeti? It's like they hired him.
Splendifornia
And it looks like SA is a blowhorn/noisemaker fan culture. I guess I just can't help but have everything **** me off at 5:30.
AllStar4
1-0, Buddle with a nice finish after some sloppy play by the Aussies. Donovan was open on a header but put it straight at Schwarzer just before that.
Splendifornia
Buddle with a thumping goal in the fourth minute after Findley forces an error from Grella.

Splendifornia
****ing hell, Findley. Literally rounds the keeper and sends it wide.
Splendifornia
1-1. We concede a soft goal off a corner to Cahill.
AllStar4
That was bad, nobody marking their most dangerous player on corners.
AllStar4
Some very nice passing on that move. Looking pretty good so far.
Splendifornia
Really dominating Australia, more or less.
Splendifornia
Timmy's hands have become so safe. Clark and Bradley hanging pretty far back in this formation.
Splendifornia
2-0 Buddle header off a great cross from Cherundolo.
AllStar4
Buddle gets another, nice cross from Cherundolo.

Rio_V
And it looks like SA is a blowhorn/noisemaker fan culture.I guess I just can't help but have everything **** me off at 5:30. They are selling the vuvuzelas like mad. Nothing to be done. In addition to making money, someone thinks the noise is actually a good thing.
Rio_V
Missed 1st half. Looks like we played well. Buddle is going to force himself into the lineup.
Rio_V
I think that's a goal. Dempsey is not offside and it doesn't look like Findley interferes with play. In any event, I didn't love the miss, but liked the swarm that followed.
AllStar4
Yeah, definitely a bad call. It's not Findley's day, hitting the bar from five yards and missing an open goal in the first half.
Splendifornia
Basically still undecided with Findley. Looks to be making things happen, but his mistakes are amateurish. Bornstein on.
AllStar4
Goddamn we need to defend corner kicks better.
Splendifornia
Another flimsily defended ck.
Rio_V
And, crosses to the back post. But remember, Howard is not in there. That does make a difference. Hahnemann is solid, but no where near Timmeh.
Splendifornia
Get cancer and die, Wilkshere.
Rio_V
Basically still undecided with Findley. Looks to be making things happen, but his mistakes are amateurish.Bornstein on. Agreed. I like his pace a lot, but Buddle isn't exactly slow and it much more experienced. Would much prefer Jozy and Edson starting with Findley as a change of pace. AllStar4
Some rough challenges by the Aussies this half, they're kicking the **** out of Dempsey. Bastards.
Rio_V
I will ****ing fly to SA and smash Grella in the face if he hurts Clint. What a moron.

AllStar4
hahaha, I didn't hear the whistle and thought Hahnemann had just scored the worst own goal ever.
AllStar4
I'd blame the field after making a pass like that too. Really should be winning by a few goals.
Gordon Comstock
findley blows.
Splendifornia
Don't know what Bradley's calculus is with center midfield. I thought Torres had fought his way into the eleven. And Findley managing to pry his way into a starting spot and then play himself out of it over the course of a single game.
AllStar4
3-1, Gomez. Nice build-up play.
Splendifornia
I maintain a soft spot for teams like Australia, SK, and Japan--teams that are similar in outlook to ours. But it's hard to wish the Australians well after today.
Rio_V
Should have ended it earlier, but still a nice way to finish up the friendlies. Agreed about the Aussies. Some idiotic tackles there. Glad they are not in our group, but, sadly, the Algerians are. Don't expect a soft game from them. Still think Torres should be starting. Whether it is fitness or lack of matches, I don't see Clark making a big impact.
Rio_V
Lalas so outdated with this kind of nonsense. http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/05062010/58/world-cup-2010-lalas-must-wind-rooney.html
Ricky Riccardo
no malice in any of those tackles, harden the **** up princess lucky for you we played like ****
Razzler
I don't know why you lot ask Lalas stuff judging from stuff I have read from him, no doubt as a 'celeb' player from back in the day he'll get asked loads. It's ok, Rooney can wind himself up anyway and he'll probably wait until the knockout stages
Razzler
Sounded like Aussies created a bit, did that Holden play (my mate supports Bolton)?
Splendifornia
Certainly chose a strange time to come into the thread calling names. But keep it up with Lucas Neill-is-not-a-thug apologetics. It makes you look very knowledgeable.
Splendifornia
Sounded like Aussies created a bit, did that Holden play (my mate supports Bolton)? They created some decent chances in the air that Kennedy missed, but benefited from some comical American set-piece defending. Holden didn't get in. bflaff
Lalas is paid to be stupid, although he may not realize that.

Administrators Philip Rolfe Posted June 5, 2010 Administrators Share Posted June 5, 2010 Any idea if Buddle's going to force his way into a start because of his form? Looking at him for USA's top goalscorer in betting.
Splendifornia
I think the Buddle-Atlidore pairing is probable. I have some reservations because in ways they're a little redundant together, but I also think it could work.
