AMATEUR MANAGER REVEALED AS SHOCK FERGIE REPLACEMENT!

Unheard of rookie, Jarrod Birch was revealed yesterday night as the new manager of his dearly loved club Manchester United.

The announcement came after Alex Ferguson controversially quit as manager around noon yesterday-consequently shocking the whole of the country and beyond.

Then just SEVEN hours later, the Manchester United chairman, Malcolm Glazer, and the chief executive, David Gill, called a press conference. David Gill opened the speaking declaring, “Malcolm and I have discussed with the board of directors who to bring in as the new manager of Manchester United and have come to a decision to appoint a lifelong fan of our club as a replacement for Sir Alex Ferguson.â€

Malcolm continued by saying, “We drew a list up of possible successors and top of that list was the name of Jarrod Birch, a 1% shareholder in the club. At 4.00pm today we met him and his agent and agreed a £1m a year deal with bonuses depending on successes. We will be giving Jarrod an adequate transfer/wage budget to achieve our expectations; silverware. Questions for Birch will be appreciated?†Glazer finished and glanced at Birch who sat in between Gill and Glazer.

Michael Smith, our very own SUNSPORT reporter, then asked Birch how he felt about being given the job at his beloved club. Birch replied by saying he was absolutely delighted and understood that the fans would not be happy with his appointment but that he hoped that he would win them over with good results, signings, and the winning of treasured silverware. He then added that he would be trying to do this with a young squad and build a squad for not just now but for years ahead. Breaking News!

We have news coming from Old Trafford! New boss Birch has secured yet another superkid this time it is Kevin Toure from Lyon for a fee of £1m. The 18-year-old Frenchman is a useful attacking player, and can play off the main striker or as a left or centre attacking midfielder. This youngster follows the 17-year old right back Fabio and Kobi Weitzman, a 16 year old centre midfielder from Sunderland, into Old Trafford who both signed on Friday. Mr. Birch is certainly going for a ‘Busby Babe’ approach to Manchester United and he will be hoping it to be just as successful.

We will keep you updated to the goings-on at Old Trafford throughout the day….

A controversial £9m was handed over to Saint Etienne, yesterday for twenty-year-old Lima, an attacking midfielder.

After the transfer was announced, there was an enormous outcry from the fans at such a chunk of their club's transfer budget being handed over for a complete unknown. But Jarrod Birch answered them by saying,"Lima is a bargain at 9m. Within 5 years he will be one of the best players in Europe!"

The bold comment has made a few heads turn and the United fans will be eager to watch the Brazilian to check the truth in Birch's prediction....

While all this was going on, the Manchester club released their centre midfielder, Ben Palmer terminating his contract with immediate effect.

Gentian Berisha has signed for Manchester United today from Middlesborough in a 9.5 m deal. The 17 year old central midfielder penned a 15,000 a week deal. The United fans are becoming increasingly unnerved that the club is spending great deals of money for mere youngster. But the manager, Jarrod Birch is adamant that it is money well spent on the Albanian. " He is a good box-to-box player and I am sure he will become a potential replacement for the legendary Roy Keane.", said Birch. Keane, himself is currently scouring the transfer market to improve his Sunderland squad.....

Double Transfer Boost for Man Utd

Man Utd wrapped up a double deal for Ryan Thompson and Ian McAteer today. Ryan Thompson arrived from Watford for a fee of 1.9m and Ian McAteer from Charlton for 650k.

Ryan Thompson is an American right-sided player and has apparently been tracked by Birch for a few weeks.

McAteer is a exciting talent who has been attracting lots of attention.

Birch pipped Arsenal and Chelsea to the 15 year old's signature and will no doubt will be overjoyed with this signing.

Brazilian Goalkeeper Maciel joined the long list of transfers into Old Trafford after the club used its first option with Fluminese to purchase the promising young player. After Fluminese accepted a 1k bid from Cruzeiro, the first option clause was activated and when Manchester United matched the Cruzeiro bid, they HAD to be accepted. Maciel couldn't resist the chance of a lifetime at Manchester United and he agreed a 1,200 a week deal.

Yesterday, the day after Jarrod Birch's birthday, United completed yet another transfer of a youngster, Richard Pawlak, an Englishman bizarrely playing in Argentina for Diego Maradona's former club, Argentinos.

Pawlak struck a strong resemblence to Ryan Giggs and this may have played a part in his signing. He is a strong, quick and skilful winger but may have to wait as he has a few players ahead of him in the pecking order. After the signing Birch declared, " I am now happy with my squad, we have some good young players who are determined to win the fans some trophies and therefore, this will be our last signing of the summer.

Birch's young guns somewhat unlucky in Charity Shield loss

Birch surprised a few of the spectators by fielding a young side with an average of just under 20 years old.

Starting Line-ups:

Chelsea:

Roger Nerdal

Stanislav Kamornikov

Ersen Hakan

Stephen Barnett

Andrew Allison ©

Martin Watson

Chris Smith

Abdul Razak Issah

Lee Lancaster

Andrey Shyryaev

Jeremy Constantine

Manchester United:

Fernando Molina

Fabio

Hans Mayer

Mark Law

Lima

Ryan Thompson

Adam Zawadski

Kobi Weitzman

Dragan Jankovic

Kevin Toure

Jack Martin

Chelsea slightly dominated the first 15 minutes of this match but when Jankovic won the ball off Jeremy Constantine outside the United box, he played it out wide to Lima who searched for Kevin Toure with a lofted ball with his left foot. Kevin Toure showed his good ball control to bring the cross down and fire the ball past Nerdal in the Chelsea goal. The Chelsea players had a right to feel hard done by after their dominance but that didn't bother United! Chelsea came close when Issah shot just wide of Molina's left post in the 21st minute. And then when a free header from Constantine skimmmed the bar, the worried Man Utd players looked at each other, relieved. Their luck didn't last long though because Constantine was granted another chance by the United defenders and this time he made no mistake of thrashing the ball into the net. A minute later while the Manchester United players were still trying to recover, Constantine made the most of a blunder by the goalkeeper and passed the ball into an empty net with Molina left sprawling on the floor. After the double blow United could never get back into control in the match and not even an encouraging team talk at half time by their manager could lift them. Jarrod Birch was upbeat however, " We know where we made our mistakes and I hope the players will learn from them."
