jlawlor91
I've just played one game in the league. In pre-season i only bought Farfan, and no decent offers have been put in for my players on the transfer list so i'm stuck with them. I'm playing a 4-4-2 with a diamond, Barton as DM and Farfan as AM, beat Liverpool 1-0 away!!

renner
Why are you wed to these three, I agree that Anelka is the best of the group but there is much better value out there, inc all the obv choices. Can't go wrong with Palacio works brilliantly with Owen - Zarate is a poor second to Palacio but is still good cover for Owen's prolonged absences. If you can find the cash buy Fred to play with Palacio and sell the rest of your forwards
I.T.F.C
i have sold my whole team more or lease and rebuilt. I sold martins for £16m and owen for £15.4m so got a away with lack contract clause. Bought defoe (had him for 1 season and sold him for £7.5m, he was rubbish), also bought huntelaar (no success, bought for £21m and sold for 18 just to get rid). Now pain srike force is haynes (ips - 850k seas1) and anelka (£21m) its good and im top of the league and due to win the title for 2nd time. on my 4th season in april. Zarate is a sub as well as andy carroll. My starting line up is: Shay Given Geremi Micah Richards Steven Taylor Grimi Young Hargreaves Baptista Kewell Nicolas Anelka Danny Haynes subs: Ferrari,Motta,Weidenfeller(Buy),Zárate,Andy Carroll. also:Hitzlsperger,Milner,Shaun Maloney,Baros,Sebastián Viera,Leon Andreasen,Andrea Dossena. Stats of key players: anelka - 43apps 30goals haynes - 36apps 22goals baptista - 41apps 13 goals hargreaves is going in hard and closing everyone down. im doing well, 1 major and 2 minor. Basically ive won the league once, the fa cup once and league cup once (all season 2 - did treble). Now 6points ahead of manu season 3 and top of the league in the knockouts of euro cup, quarters of facup and knocked out of league cup no point for just 1m. any help getting more goals from midfield would be great and an exspensive striker. I spent £31m on micah richards in my books not worth 31m and I would not buy him for that again. I have a strong team not sure what tweeks are instore next. balance is 2mill in the red, still winning, but no wage bill and no transfer money. got to win league and euro, im in april so I will let you know the out come. loaded patch 8.0.1 mid way through 2nd season. in some ways I want to do it all over again, as not sure im getting the full change list. ITS NOT A GAME ITS A LIFE!
renner
Strikers Palacio or Aguero (2nd season cost me £36m but has scored over a goal a game) Midfield Modric Piatta banega All score a good 10+ in the season even when played as a MC rather than AMC Probably need to get back in the black and get your wages down or Ashley will start to accept offers on your players, accepted a £7.5m bid for Zarate on mine. You are unlikely to get your contract extended if the club is losing money. I think there was a thread on Ashley being a pain in the ... when it comes to accepting bids and I have to agree he does make it really important to control your expenses. Welshace
going to start a toon career in a second.. because A) lots of potential and B) the lack of potential coming to fruitation irl is doing my nut in... gonna look to bring in youngsters ... the usual lot really that everyone knows and the likely lads of samba and ignashevich to shore yp the ridicularse defence possibly bring in fernandez and will look for becks aswell.. as he was amazing for my fm07 game
GeordieGazza
Hi I'm getting the game soon and i'm going to play as the Toon as always, my question is, seeing as we only have one right winger in James Milner, i think i'm going to try and sign David Bentley, is he good on the game and how much does he cost? stinger061
Currently in my first season as Newcastle and can safely say i am only an AMC short of competing with the top 4. HSV just wouldn't let van der Vaart go at a price i was able to pay and nobody wanted to buy any players off me so i went for youth and signed 15M worth of talent for the future. The likes of Bangera, Barazite and Kerlon all came in along with Ben Sahar from Chelsea. So far we've been solid with Owen back from injury and having scored once and provided 4 assists for Martins in just 2 games that partnership looks very strong. If i can get a solid AMC who will chip in with some goals i can see us going places
stinger061
I'm really struggling at the moment. I have just produced an embarrassing home draw with Derby following an away defeat to Middlesbrough. Earlier in the season i also went down 2-1 to Birmingham. I sit 11th in the table although a couple of teams below me have a game in hand. I just can't seem to find the right tactic. We drew 3-3 with Liverpool before going own to a dodgy last minute penalty 3-2 at Arsenal and i thought we were on the right track, it's obviously not the case though as we struggle badly against the lesser sides. Martins continues to bang them in but it's not really solving the issue of results. I really need an experienced AMC i believe as Kerlon and Barazite just aren't up to it, same goes for DMC where Banega is currently first choice but really struggling. My other options in the squad look only to be Smith and Barton, both of whom are currently out injured. Any advice?

Guest
Hi all, im in my first season with Newcastle and everybody is enquiring about martins, i've been rejecting all of them saying hes not for sale. Lyon asked and i said give me Fred and we'll do a straight swap no cash, i never expected them to accept it. so as you can see i have a problem, i know martins is good. but, ive heard alot of good things about Fred. i'm slightly leaning towards accepting because of 2 reasons, 1 if i were to get money theres no guarantee id be able to afford someone like Fred in a few seasons time who can provide me goals. Second reason is because its a team outside of the prem and id never have to play against him other than in europe (fingers crossed i even get there haha). so i was wondering what you guys would do? thanks in advance

Guest
Martins just scored 4 goals in a game against Birmingham, I would definitely keep him, and if you can find or use a tactic which allows Owen and he to work together you will be in goal city. I would highly recommend appointing Taylor as your captain first season, even being as young as he is, when I did at least 8 of the squad had a PR message saying they were happy with the appointment, and they seemed inspired, morale instantly went up to superb. I was instantly in Taylor's favorite people list and his performances have been great. I'd also recommend giving Edgar a go in the first team because he has been turning out some great performances and looks like he will turn out a solid if not world beating squad player. Very surprised the board won't heed my call to update the youth facilities though I've found the revised version of the tactic posted in this thread has been working great for me. MagnusD
Ok, I've started a Newcastle save, and said we could finish in the top half. I sold Martins to Liverpool, and sold a few other players, then spent my entire budget on securing Rafael Van Der Vaart and Peter Crouch. I play an attacking 4-4-2 with Van Der Vaart the playmaker and Crouch as a target man alongside Owen in attack. So far Owen's the top scorer in the league, and Van Der Vaart is leading the assists, with Crouch often getting Man Of The Match, and other than a few poor performances we are in the top six. Americano
I'm in my first season. Happy with the squad and with our position in league (inside the fight for a place in european competitions). Got knock out from both Leagues. I have AM for a while. A great striker. Looking forward the next season I'm planning to bring a faster DC and more firepower in the attack. Given still have a couple seasons ahead, but maybe is time to get a good back up for that position. What I'm not sure is about if I should bring DM or MC. Geremi plays there and He is doing good. Butt is in his way out and Emre is okay. Barton has been playing some games but I don't know if He is the player that I going to need in the future. What do you do with him? Where do you play him? Lyon asked and i said give me Fred and we'll do a straight swap no cash, i never expected them to accept it. so as you can see i have a problem, i know martins is good. but, ive heard alot of good things about Fred. i'm slightly leaning towards accepting because of 2 reasons, 1 if i were to get money theres no guarantee id be able to afford someone like Fred in a few seasons time who can provide me goals. Second reason is because its a team outside of the prem and id never have to play against him other than in europe (fingers crossed i even get there haha). so i was wondering what you guys would do? thanks in advance Good God, You have to accept that! Dave the Rave
Just finished first season with newcastle and finished 4th. Told the board i'd be a title challenger next season so i got £35m for transfers. On top of that i managed to sell martins to liverpool for £35m, enrique to lyon for £14m. duff £3m and geremi £3m went so i've got a good kitty. So far i've gone for these replacements Armand Traore £5m Vanden Borre £6 Veluoso (sp) £12.75m Denilson £5m Banega £5m Luci £2.1m Fred £12m Del Horno £4m I'm looking at Breno but will need to pay £8.25m release clause i think as i've had £7m rejected. Anybody else i should be looking at as i've got some cash left or should i hang on to the money and see what happens in January
