I started the pre-season strong and finished only losing one game, i made many transfers too.... Pre Season: Didcot 0-3 Reading Basingstoke 0-6 Reading Blackpool 1-3 Reading Reading 1-2 Hearts Reading 4-1 Deportivo Reading 5-1 Peterborough Transfers Initial Budget: £2,000,000 IN Ryan Bertrand (Chelsea) - Loan Liam Rosenior - Free Steve Von Bergen - Free Carlos Castamado - Free Daniel Gunkel - Free Herold Goulon - Free Amr Zaki (Zamalek) - £3,000,000 OUT Nicholas Bignall --> Leeds - Loan Shaun Cummings --> Wycombe - Loan Alex Pearce --> Q.P.R - Loan Hal Robson-Kanu --> Southampton - £2,500,000 Brynjar Gunnarsson - Released on a Free Marcus Williams - Released on a Free Jay Tabb --> Sheffield Wednesday - Loan Julian Kelly --> Middlesborough - Loan After a good pre-season my players look to begin the season strongly with their first fixture away to Hull City. FT: Hull 0-3 Reading Simon Church (47, 72) Amr Zaki (80) Brilliant start, exactly what was needed, strong team performance. Now i wont boast about my team like other people, ill get down to the results, here are my team's next 12 games... Gillingham 2-5 Reading (Carling Cup - 1st Round) Reading 3-0 Scunthorpe (League) Sheffield Utd 0-1 Reading (League) Reading 4-0 Watford (League) Reading 4-3 Derby (Carling Cup - 2nd Round) Q.P.R 2-2 Reading (League) ----------------- Andy Rich named Manager of the Month Reading 3-1 Norwich (League) Leicester 0-3 Reading (League) Reading 3-0 Millwall (League) Reading 1-0 Bolton (Carling Cup - 3rd Round) Reading 2-2 Middlesbrough (League) Reading 3-0 Swansea (League) My start to the season has been great, a brilliant unbeaten league run of 8 games, and i have so far got to the 4th round of the Carling Cup, knocking out Premier League outfit Bolton in the process. I was 1st in the table, 2pts ahead of Burnley... My next opponents... FT: Burnley 0-0 Reading (League) The right result really, both teams played some good football which cancelled each other out, neither side was able to make the break through, fair result. Doncaster 2-1 Reading (League) Reading 5-2 Nottingham Forest (League) Portsmouth 0-3 Reading (League) My first loss, away to donny, my team didnt perform, got what we deserved, made up for it though with two good wins. My next game is a tough test again Premier League team Newcastle, in the 4th round of the Carling Cup... FT: Reading 4-3 Newcastle Shane Long (33) Reading Xisco (55) Newcastle Brian Howard (pen 74) Reading Shola Ameobi (90+2) Newcastle Danny Guthrie (102) Newcastle Simon Church (110) Reading Simon Church (113) Reading Excellent performance, if ever there was a need for the phrase "Super Sub", Simon Church earned it! Through to the quater finals! ... drawn against Chelsea... away... fantastic. Reading 2-0 Cardiff (League) Leeds 1-3 Reading (League) Reading 3-1 Crystal Palace (League) Reading 3-1 Ipswich (League) Coventry 1-2 Reading (League) -------------- Andy Rich named Manager of the Month A brilliant string of results, the Newcastle game clearly gave my team the confidence to carry on in the league! Next up... Chelsea away... FT: Chelsea 3-1 Reading Yossi Benayoun (21) Chelsea Jobi McAnuff (28) Reading Saloman Kalou (75) Chelsea Ramires (90) Chelsea We gave it our all, but we couldn't come back from two late goals by the champions. Its a sad day, but we should be proud of what we have achieved in the tournament. Thats as far as ive got to so far, i will post next after completing another big chunk of the season.
