Wavelberry
Have started this as my last FM2011 game. Have taken over at Pontedera in Italy and the team looks awful. Hardly any players or any money. If I stay up I'll be surprised. I'll do a proper update at the end of my first seaosn.
Anti Spiral
Season: 2023/24 Club: Angri League: Italy - Serie A Media Prediction: 13th Actual Finish: 8th Season Review: Much much more enjoyable than previous seasons in this division. But only a 1 place improvement on last season. We were much stronger in defence this year which helped alot. Only 2 games where we conceded more than 2 goals (a 1-4 loss to AC Milan and a 0-5 loss to Inter as I type this out...), but we were by no means a great defences force. I spent quite a few hours creating a new tactic just after the january transfer window and we played considerably better after this, losing just 3 games in our last 12 games (1 of these was the last game of the season, which I holidayed).. Despite our strong finish we didn't improve our position and ended up in 8th place. But I was very pleased with our progress and with some improved squad depth feel we can do much better next season. We have many promising youngsters so I'll most likely spend a lot of the summer trying to convince them to stay. Our chairman sold another star player, but 11 million was probably a price I would have sold him at anyway. Final League Standings League Positions - Consistency! Lower Leagues Rule
After a bit of a break I have come back to my Haro save and loving it again, 20 games into the season and I am starting to build a competitive squad as evidenced by my recent results 1:2 losses to both Real Madrid & Barcelona. We also had a victory over Real Sociedad & a draw with Espanyol. Now I am going to fight my way towards the end of the season after I have spent 27M Euros on transfers while outgoings have only brought in 19M. We currently have 9 players out on loans, and a great group of future prospects starting to crack into the side. Abraham is almost back from his huge injury layoff and will hopefully get back into a scoring streak, Guler has just gone down with a broken ankle after 8 games with 1 goal and 5 assists for a 7.27 avg rating. The future looks pretty good to me.
Anti Spiral
Good to hear! On an equal happy tone. Our first game of the season we won 7-0 against Palermo. Granted they aren't the force they used to be, but they were still favourites and we've lost 14 of our last 17 meetings! Infact we've played 17 and so far had no draws! We won our second game 5-1! (I'm getting so carried away already, only 2 games played...)

Lower Leagues Rule
Well Abraham had scored 9G in 13 games before he tore his hamstring, he comes back and scores a brace in his first match back to pull us to a 2:0 victory over Valencia (4th) and now only 2pts behind them in the race for Europe, we are also 16pts clear of relegation with 16 games remaining, we need to pull further up though to have the European spot in 7th (Currently 8th) as we finish the season away to Real Madrid & Espanyol. My defense has solidified since January as well, now in 6 games 10 goals scored, 7 goals conceded, I want that below a goal per game, but it included matches against Real & Barca... Biscotti
Apologies for the delay here, I realise I said I'd post this at the start of the week. I blame Deus Ex. Keyser Söze (Biscotti) - Oliveira do Bairro Sport Clube - Portuguese Liga Sagres Season 2026/27 - Season Summary League: 3rd place (graph) Taça de Portugal: Winners Bwin Cup: Winners Champions League: Best Placed Playoff EURO Cup: 1st KO Round Transfers A considerably better cup year which saw us take the domestic cup double, although I was disappointed to not make the CL group stages, only just losing out to Liverpool in the playoff 1-0 (90th min goal) at home and 0-0 away. The league season wasn't anywhere near as good, but having had Léo, Aguerre and one of my backup strikers out with long term injuries this season I think we did remarkably well. A late charge even saw us nearly steal the second CL spot. The defence were considerably more leaky this season, but they also weren't at all helped by the injury-induced impotence up front. The only major transfer this year was Mussunga going out for £10m. I really didn't want to let him go, but with loans for stadium expansions slowly draining my money I felt it was far too good an offer to turn down. I will, however be looking at the possibility of a big spend over the summer as I'm not entirely convinced my holding midfielders have the maturity to be league winners. The squad: GK: Hugo De Luca - Another top drawer season saw him named 'keeper of the year for the second year running. This season also saw him drafted into the Italian and Portuguese (after taking citizenship) squads, but he's yet to gain a cap for either. I can't imagine he's far from getting one though. DC: Guy Kanté - Yet again I'm raiding the African nations for young talent, and Kanté looks to have a very bright future. DC: Luis Garcia - My only centre-back over the age of 25, García brings the vital experience to my back line, but his stats really aren't that fantastic. DC: Caca - Another very strong season for the young Brazilian. WBR: Mustapha Guenoun - Still managing to hold the first-choice spot from Haslam, but already I'm looking at youngsters who might be able to exceed both their abilities. WBL: Ousmane Faye - Whilst technically not first choice this season, Da Silva was sold right at the end of the season and thus Faye defaults to first choice. Looks extremely promising though, hence my not hesitating to sell Da Silva when a good offer came in. MC: Mauro Pinjuh - Currently the player I consider to be the weak link of my midfield. Pinjuh is still a great player, but at 25 I'd be expecting to see more signs of maturity and it just isn't quite there yet. His playing stats are marginally better than Da Silva's, but at 6 years older he just doesn't feel like he's developed properly. MC: Da Silva - Still only 19, but Da Silva is extremely well set-up as a ball winner. The average of over 5.5 tackles a game really highlights that, and having an 85% pass completion ratio proves he knows what to do with it once he wins it. AMC: Damir Tomic - Another very good season from Tomic, but the vultures are circling and with me being unable to remove that £5m release clause from his contract I'm probably going to look to sell up over the summer. I've already got my eye on a few players as replacements. ST: Léo - A total of over 6 months out injured didn't stop him from scoring 14 in 17 in all competitions. ST: Lionel Aguerre - Had 4 months out with injury as well, but is still proving to be a great striker and very good captain. I'll be very surprised if I don't see him start to decline at the end of next season. Other notable players: Ibrahima Kipré - Played most of the season due to the other injuries, and had a great season to show for it. Still not quite enough for me to pick him ahead of Léo, but he was named Young Player of the Year for his efforts. William Addo - Isn't quite developing as well as I'd hoped, and with Kanté arriving it may see me looking to move him on in the near future. An altogether disappointing season, but we at least stayed in the fight despite having such an injury crisis. Next season, injury permitting, should see us much more comfortable. Anti Spiral
Season: 2024/25 Club: Angri League: Italy - Serie A Media Prediction: 12th Actual Finish: 4th Season Review: After our form at the end of last season I thought we finally could get a push at a European place. But it went a lot better than that! We started the season in unbelievable fashion, destroying Palermo 7-0 on the first game and then beating Pescara 5-1. Our good form lasted for a while and we were always at the top end of the table. Any games we lost were close, apart from one completely out of character 2-6 loss to Juventus. Not only were we having success on the pitch though. We were making good financial gain each month, but then our chairman stepped down and a consortium took over and immediately upgraded our training facilities and pumped in 20 million. For a while they were reviewing my situation as manager (reports suggested they were going to bring someone else in). Luckily they didn't and we carried on! We were some way off the leaders, but still way beyond anything I could have predicted. Spent just 5 million on players, which was on just one player, who impressed me while he was on loan here. Finishing the season like we started put is in a champions league qualifying place! Roll on next season where I'm sure the pressure will be more. Italian Cup: We reached the semi-finals. It was the furthest we'd ever got in this competition and further proved it wasn't luck that got us into 4th. We lost to Florentina in the semis while fielding a weaker team to try and guarantee 4th place. Trigo's value has plummeted to 1.3M, while Abraham's is up to 3.2M, it looks like we got the better deal, and the better striker. When Abraham was fit this season he was stunning, looking to play Abraham, Francesconi & Guler upfront in the new season, possibly with Callesan on the bench, which means I can sell Haro stalwarts Pedro & Georgiev who have started to drop off a bit now. Lower Leagues Rule
Des Tiny's Club Haro Deportivo Spanish Liga BBVA End of Season 2020/21 Climbing to New Peaks The Season in Brief Predicted: 17th Actual: 8th (Graph) Spanish Cup: 4th Round vs Espanyol: Leg 1 - Leg 2 Manager: Des Tiny - History - 400 Games Season Tickets: 7013 (v643 [Avg Att: 9435]) Finances: €22.5M (19th Esp [v1]) Transfers: 2020/21 - 16 In (€27M) 56 Out (€19.25M) Squad: First Squad, Under 19s & Loanees Teams who wanted me: Sevilla, Espanyol, Recreativo (2M), Las Palmas (4.5M), Athletic, Espanyol (1.6M) again, Villareal (12M), Valladolid. (That's 7 teams, and 1 of them twice) There was a takeover attempt which fell through, and we are currently in the process of a second. The League Well we started quite terribly in the league, but that is expected when the first game is against Barcelona and you don't have a defense that is good enough for the league. As the season went on we started to slowly climb out of the relegation zone and our players started to gel together as well. At Christmas I had decided that defense was the thing holding us back, so I signed some new players and made a couple of changes as well, Suazo at DM was dominant, behind him we added Fonseca, Zuppinger & Johnson. The change saw us climb up to 5th spot in the league and a great shot at heading to Europe in the new season, but a late season drop-off in form saw us finish in 8th and just outside the European slots, we would've made it with a win or draw at Espanyol on the final day. So it looks like we need better luck next season. Spanish Young Player of the Year: Fonseca 3rd. They scored 93 goals in 30 matches in the league, a huge season and they just appear to be getting better, hoping to sign some more superstar youngsters in the offseason to build that squad back up again. Table Squad Spanish Cup Not really even worth a mention, we went out in the first round we entered to Espanyol, hoping for better next year. The Players Squad Stats Keepers Daniel Di Dio (GK) - He conceded just over 1.5 GAA this season, but I am happy with that, 1 in 4 matches had a clean sheet and he played the entire season, he looks to be one of the best goalkeepers in the division, he just needs a bit more help from the defenders. In the second half he played 19 games and conceded 26 (35 in 21 before that), which included 5 allowed against Real Madrid, so 21 in 18 against all other opposition, a much improved effort with the new defensive line. Defenders Chiquinho (DC) - With Fonseca joining him at the back we completed the strengthening of our defensive line, and between them they changed the whole outlook of our team. Chiquinho is one of the best players in the squad. 2G 1A. Fonseca (DC) - Well in January we received our new centre back, I did fork out 3.9M for him, but he is the best signing I have ever made. The change in goals conceded shows it all for me, much more solid now. 0G 0A. Raphael Zuppinger (DRC) - The Swiss Maestro had a few settling problems early on, and it seemed to continue as he never really showed the flair I expected from him. He is still substantially better than the competition for his role, so hopefully can settle over summer. 0G 2A. Sam Johnson (DL) - My Summer signing from Man City, he was the final part of the defensive puzzle, he had a bad start to his Haro days, but in the end once he settled in he was machinelike on the left flank, and did everything I wanted and more. His crossing is an issue, but one we are working on. 0G 1A. Cedric da Costa (DLC) Rachid Lafont (DRC) Jan Willem van den Berg (DC) Ifenildo Goelab (DRC) Jack Zandbergen (DL) Sasa Vukasinovic (DRLC) Midfielders Eduardo Suazo (DM/MC) - The Chilean joined on a free at the start of the season and was spectacular, he was the anchor that the team needed and we looked better with him there, he got a few poor ratings early in the season, but improved later and looks to be an excellent signing. 0G 3A. Alessandro Barbieri (MC) - The Barber of Haro has shown class to keep his role when a lot of players around him were being replaced by new signings, he is always solid and does exactly what I expect of him. 3G 3A. Alvaro Lopez (MC/AM/ST) - He is one of the new attacking forces our team has and will be looking to combine with either the Barber or Rutgers in the new season. The young mexican while not starring for the side made some good plays. 1G 5A. Pedro Rutgers (MC) - He is in a fight for a starting slot, and he seemed to outperform the more attacking Lopez through most of the season, but with The Barber in contention as well as the huge number of young future stars the side has he has a target on his back, so he will hopefully keep putting the ball through. 1G 9A. Samir Turk (DM/MC) Guiseppe Cerrone (MC) Rob Deschacht (MC) Strikers Marco Francesconi (ST) - Our Captain has played in about 3/4 of all matches I have managed as he passed his 300th match in the year I passed 400, and he continues to score at a rate of about 1 in 2. A complete legend for the club and he is now bringing through a few youngsters who could go on to replace him in the future. 17G 4A. Abraham (ST) - The youngster tore a hamstring in the middle of the season, but his form at either end was impeccable as he built a great partnership with Francesconi, and also worked well with Pedro who played a lot this season in cover. 14G 5A. Pedro (ST) - Mr Consistency, he had a few games out of the top team, but as injury cover he was amazing and ended up working brilliantly with the top guys, it looks like a straight fight between him and Guler for the third striking slot in 2021/22 so it could be interesting to see the battle in the preseason. 12G 8A. Necemettin Guler (ST) - Was a superstar for our U19s early in the season, but a series of injuries to my strikers saw him come into the starting line-up for a few games, and he managed to hold onto the spot near the end as well. 3G 5A. Aleksander Georgiev (ST) - He dropped from the starting team this season and will be most likely leaving the club over summer, he just doesn't have the quality of the new players coming through. 4G 3A. The Youth Stars Svatopluk Kmoch (GK) Jeppe Neilsen (DRC) Billel Mana (DC) Marcin Koziol (DL) Ruben Massaro (DM) Marco Scarlata (MC) Rob Deschacht (MC) Yves Essomba (MC) Martin Callesen (ST) Necmettin I am pretty happy with the mix of my team, but am still looking for those superstar youngsters that appear out there. Have signed a new kit sponsorship deal worth 1.2M a season, a large improvement on the 375k we did have. It looks like we may lose Suazo as well because 6 clubs have activated his minimum release fee which was too low.
berty1978
GL in Europe Biscotti and Anti Spiral. Another excellent update LLR, push for Europe next season? As for me, completely failed at Naron, in fact managed to last until after christmas but was almost already relegated and got the sack out of the blue, as last time I looked the board were satisfied and I thought I may get the whole season. Ah well, live and learn, I have restarted the challenge as Linense in the Spanish Second Division B4, will post screenie at some point and no club history etc as I'll probably only last a season again. In case you hadn't noticed I'm rubbish at this game.
Biscotti
Unlucky there berty. I've never found being good at FM all that vital for enjoying the game. I think this is only the second version since the switch from CM that I've actually had a successful career without starting at a big club, but I've enjoyed every year. berty1978
Linense profile. The problem in the Spanish second B is there is a huge gap between the Semi Pro clubs with wage budgets of £6k and the Pro clubs with more like £150k. In my current game Las Palmas have just signed Julio Arca for example, he's infinately better than any player I have. Still, I keep trying anyway. Lower Leagues Rule
In my game Las Palmas are in the BBVA! Admittedly they are relegation battlers, but are in the top division. So don't worry about beating them, first thing I would do at any club down there is get rid of the guy on over $500p/w wages, he may be the best current player in the club, but for his wages you will be able to get many more quality players to fill the squad. Can definitely be competitive with a very small wage budget, but you need to pick out the Gems, I find trying to keep the wages under control and spread throughout the team. So if my budget is 6k and I really want 25 players, 2 at every position + an extra GK, and two utility players, then I would put 4k into the starting team, with no player on more than 500p/w, and most on less. Then the other 14 players should be on no more than 120p/w each. If you ensure to not have some guy on ridiculous wages and spread them through the team, then you end up more balanced with a good squad as well. My highest earner is generally a DC or ST as I want stars in those roles. Thanks for the congrats as well, I am hoping to push into Europe next season, though finding it hard to sign anyone better than what I currently have so might struggle to get up right away. Think I can comfortably take 5-7th though.
rlipscombe
great update as ever LLR and unlucky on missing out on Europe. hopefully the ownership issue is sorted and you can make a few additions. good luck pushing for europe nect season. berty1978
Ok, basically a season of two halfs. I managed to get an ok 22 points frm the first 16 games leaving me in 12th - 13th. However after that my team became possessed and forgot how to play football and we got a measly 9 points for the rest of the season, and dropped into the relegation play-off on the last day. With morale at an all time low we had no chance in the play-off. I can make up a tactic and do ok in this game but a heavy defeat followed by low morale and I'm screwed, I just don't know what to do. I'm going to carry on and apply for newly promoted clubs for the next season and try again, I'm determined to not get relegated. Some people proudly come onto the forums and say 'I've never been relegated or sacked', I can proudly say I'm always relegated and sacked.

Lower Leagues Rule
I was having real trouble finding any wingers, so I moved to a 4-3-3, then discovered a hole behind my midfield was developing so dropped in a defensive midfielder and now away laughing, the two outside strikers act more like attacking midfielders, but it works well. berty1978
Thanks, in that case Berty Bassett is the new manager of Jerez, the fans are very unhappy with the appointment after the disater Bassett had at Linense. Lower Leagues Rule
Well I hadn't posted since my season started mainly because I was worried about the curse, but we have played some reasonable teams and were putting a run together sitting in1st/2nd overall til we dropped a game to the terrible Las Palmas 1:0, admittedly we had a 16 yr old Keeper (Di Dio is missing 2-3 games through injury), and Our 2 best strikers injured (Abraham & Francesconi), we still had managed a good run, dropped to 6th now after 6 games 4-1-1 (9-3) Both the other goals allowed came in 3-1 victories, so we are looking good and I am happy with the squad mix even after losing Suazo due to a low min release fee... berty1978
Berty Bassett Season 1 - Real Balompedica Linense (total crapness) League table Not really much to say about my first season in Spanish management, other than that at the half way stage we were mid table but poor morale led to a horrendous run and we dropped into the relegation play-off spot on the last day. Needless to say we lost the play-off and very disappointed. As mentioned earlier I applied to the only newly promoted club without a manager, Jerez C.F., and got the job. Hope for more luck next season. berty1978
Berty Bassett Season 2 - Jerez C.F. (consolidation) League table I have the advantage this time of managing a professional club meaning we have a higher wage budget and attract better players. It does of course mean players want higher wages being full time and all. The aim was to avoid relegation and after 3 defeats in the first 4 things were not looking good. Things did pick up from there, not by much but we did enough, finishing 8 points clear of the relegation play-off position. The aim next season of course is to bring in better players and a higher league finish. rlipscombe
Messina - Serie A - Season 2017/18 Season Review Media Prediction: 20th League Finish: 14th Graph The League So after the previously documented nightmare start where we failed to win or even score in our first ten games, we settled down and achieved survival in our first season. As the graph shows we spent the first half of the season firmly routed in the bottom three but we eventually climbed out and a good run at the end of the season saw us clear of the drop zone with survival guaranteed with four games to go. Can’t explain how pleased I am to have survived, especially after the poor start. Hopefully this is the start of a new chapter for the club. Coppa Italia After last seasons shock Semi Final appearance it was always going to be tough to replicate that but we gave it a good go and made it as far as the Quarter Finals this time before being knocked out by |Fiorentina 3-2 after extra time. The Players Transfers Here’s a look at the players who made our debut season in Serie A a success: Squad 1 Squad 2 Goalkeepers 1. Raffaele Di Gennaro - Raffaele started the season as first choice but some dodgy performances in the first ten games saw me take a gamble and go with Luhovy. Whether I sign a new keeper will be key as to whether Raffaele stays at the club. 13. Marek Luhovy - Marek finally got his chance in the first team this season and never looked back. He was always solid and kept us in a few games. Delighted with him. Full Backs 2. Oscar Garcia - Oscar was promoted to the first team squad this season but was mainly cover. Highly sought after player though with bags of potential. 3. Marco Cairo - Marco had a solid debut season in Serie A and shared the LB spot with Stastny. Very little to choose from. 24. Roman Stastny - As with Cairo, had a solid debut season. I think Roman has the potential to be first choice next season though. 32. Martin Doblas - Doblas didn’t really carry over his performances and was squeezed out of the side by Bochu. Plenty of potential still though. 59. Jimmy Bochu - Jimmy was first choice Rb and did well in his first season of Serie A. more to come. Centre Backs 45. Marco Baldan - Marco didn’t get so much of a run in Serie A and his Messina future is now in doubt I feel as players are beginning to overtake him. 16. Antonio Marino - Antonio was similar to Baldan in that his game time was reduced this season. A solid squad player though. 5. Tahirou Gnessoa - I expected a little more from Tahirou this season but he didn’t quite do it. Still one for the future though. 6. Fabio Exposito - Fabio had another season of development but possibly needs a bit more development time yet. 55. Darko Grabar - Darko was the big summer signing and he repaid every penny. Some great performances, he was probably my player of the season. Going to be a struggle to keep him though this summer. Midfielders 4. Andre Zwarthoed - Andre struggled a little with the step up and didn’t feature as much as he would have liked. Still a long way to develop though. 18. Simone Pasa - Simone had a solid season although his number of appearances dropped a little. Getting to the point he might have done as much as he can for the club though. 21. Angel Martin - Angel had a good debut season in Serie A although he didn’t bag as many goals. Hopefully he can step it up a gear next season. 28. Lasse Tobiasen - Lasse was one player affected by the formation change and didn’t feature as much as he might have. Did ok when played in central midfield though. 31. David - David has a solid season but faced competition down the left flank. Solid squad player. 74. Bill - I felt that Bill could have a good season in Serie A and he did have a solid year. Still only 19 and plenty of development to happen he is a player for the future and now. 23. Lorenzo Franzoni - Lorenzo was cover once more for Martin and did ok when called upon. 88. Tcheco - Brazilian didn’t feature much this season as he is probably not a Serie A player. On his way in the summer. 22. Christian Kiefer - Christian got a decent run in the team and was solid if not spectacular. This summer will see if he remains a Messina player. 11. Ruben Castillo - Ruben took a while to settle and didn’t quite live up to my expectations. Will need to improve next season. 83. Panagiotis Papandreou - the Greek youngster was mainly a sub so didn’t get much of a chance to make an impact. Still young though. 20. Roberto Muchetti - Italian DM didn’t feature much given our change in formation. Still has a big future though. Strikers 9. David Perez - 16 league goals in Serie A is a great haul and if only for the 3 months’ he had out it would have been 20. a key player for us he was the fans player of the season. 19. Samuele Grimaldi - Samuele was Perezs’ main strike partner and although he didn’t score many he was a solid foil. Will look for more goals next season though. 39. Kenneth Skogen - Kenneth seems to be dipping a little and he has a big summer and pre-season ahead to remain at the club. 10. Sandro Hensel - Sandro got some game time when Perez was injured but didn’t really hit the mark. One at risk this summer. 8. Andrea Vecchione - Andrea had a low key 1st season with the club but is still young. plenty of potential. 73. Said Ahmed Said - Said came back to the club to add a bit of depth to the squad and although he had a decent start he was never really more than cover. Finances Despite a big increase in the wage budget and quite a bit of spending we still made a decent profit due to increased crowds and prize money. More of the same hopefully next season. Other NewsIn other news, i have another new chairman at the club. the usual news about me being replaced passed and we have now got under soil heating paid for by the chairman and also an improvement in both youth and general facilities. our training facilities are now rated as good. hopefully this chairman backs me a little better than my Serbian friend.... The Future Pre-Season Targets Survival - ACHIEVED After a good finish to the Serie A season I have hopes to improve on this performance for next season. Keeping our stars will be tough but my aim is to finish higher than our 14th place finish. FORZA PELORITANI!! Career History Season League Pos. rlipscombe
cheers berty. i was relieved to survive, especially as the last time i played in italy i was relegated first season in Serie A. i'm actually in January of the following season (updates to come) but at that time my plan was to try and keep the stars and improve in a few key areas. whether that happens we will see! Lower Leagues Rule
Well it seems that after 12 months of constant turmoil and speculation that finally someone has managed to complete the takeover and it is a Consortium led by Gustavo Moreno, though it appears they want to replace me with an Irishman, even after all I have done for the club...hopefully a good result in my next game will end any dilemma they have. He did give me a bit of extra money though and has promised to make better training facilities, so who knows.
Lower Leagues Rule
Thankfully I kept my job...because of the support I have around the club...Of course a 3-1 victory over Valladolid, and a 1-1 draw taking us through on away goals in the cup didn't help at all. He will be improving training facilities and has put more of his own money into the club, no sign of removing our debt though...

rlipscombe
Messina - Serie A - Season 2018/19 Season Preview After survival last season my main aim this summer was to try and keep hold of my key players and to add a little more quality to the squad. Unfortunately things didn’t quite work out that way. Ruben Castillo was sold to Juventus for £3.5 million after they activated a release clause but the big news concerned Darko Grabar. After a series of transfer offers that rose from £6 million upwards, he finally left the club for £11.75 million in a move to Lokomotiv Moscow in Russia. It was a massive loss but it was kind of inevitable I guess. Squad development took place and we reached the start of the season. To that end, here’s a look at my new signings: Transfers Goalkeepers 30. Jeffrey Michiels - The Belgian youth international joined for a modest fee of £275,000 and has bags of potential. 33. Maurizio Bartolini - Maurizio was a player I couldn’t turn down signing. An absolute steal, we have another promising young Italian goalkeeper. Centre Backs 26. Peter Slager - Young Dutch CB with plenty of potential. Unlikely to feature much this season though. 51. Einar Sigurgeirsson - After the departure of star man Grabar it was key for me I tried to replace him with a quality defender. I searched long and hard for a replacement but kept coming back to Einar. He was expensive at over £7 million but hopefully he can perform. Midfielders 11. David Senyonjo - After Castillos’ departure I thought long and hard over who to replace him with. In the end I went with the Ugandan winger who joined for nearly £5 million. Hopefully he can perform. 14. Manuel Fernandes - Veteran Portugese midfielder brings some experience and quality to the midfield. He could be a key player. 22. Armando Macchia - Another quality young Italian joining, he has massive potential. will compete for a left wing berth. 27. Daniele Peluso - Another young Italian, this time on the right hand side, he will provide backup for Martin. Daniel Vandecasteele - Young Belgian signed as a potential future star. Will play for the Under 20s this season. Strikers 7. Yann Verlhac - A quality young French striker signed on a free transfer. He will compete for a place alongside Perez. 10. Andrea Rea - A giant of a young striker, he will also compete for a starting berth. I have high hopes for Andrea. Pre-Season Targets Improve on 14th place finish last season. So we go into the new season looking to consolidate on our Serie A position and hopefully to drive towards the top half of the table. The performances of Sigurgeisson and Perez will be key to that happening. FORZA PELORITANI!! I thought that I would post this screenshot of a match we played against Reggina in October. berty1978
Got to say the game is treating me like **** at the moment, the amount of games we have lost or drawn despite complete domination is incredible. Not wanting to change my tactics, anyone got any hints on how to take more chances (some games I have had 5 CCCs but not scoring). Currently got my 3 strikers out for 3 weeks to 3 months, also my best player is out for months too, playing a defender up front, just not getting any luck whatsoever. berty1978
Berty Bassett Season 3 - Jerez C.F. League table - Graph A slow start to the season, in fact we lost the first 2 games 1-0. But we turned it around, Cordoba and Murcia were way above everyone else in quality and points, but we managed to finish in 3rd after an excellent end of season run. So to the play-offs, which I had no idea about how they worked. The first round we were drawn against Ponferradina which we sneaked through 3-2 on aggregate. The next round was tougher against Gimnastic, we dominated the home leg, but only managed to win 4-3 because of two own goals and a penalty to Gimnastic, we had to avoid defeat in the 2nd leg and managed to park the bus with a 0-0, I actually hoped we were promoted after that one but was dismayed when we had to play Murcia in another round. We lost that 4-2 on aggregate to come so close. We were entered into the Federation cup where we made it to the quarter finals only to lose out on away goals to Puertollano. Lower Leagues Rule
A good season in the end there Berty. Good luck with a promotion hunt next year. As for the Spanish Playoffs - CONFUSING! I believe the top teams (In each div) play each other (and the two winners are promoted) - Losers fall into main playoff draw. Then 2nds play 4ths and 3rds play each other a total of 12 teams - 6 make next round Then it becomes straight knock-out with the remaining 8 teams... berty1978
That way makes sense as the top teams have the advantage going into the play-offs. berty1978
Berty Bassett Season 4 - Jerez C.F. League table Disappointing to miss out on the play offs after coming close to promotion last season. You only have to lok at the league table to realise what the problem was, only the league winners, Cartagena lost fewer games than us. A lot of the draws were 0-0 where we just couldn't put the ball into the net, only needed 2 of the draws to be wins and we would have been in the play-offs, ah well. We were entered into the Spanish Cup, but got a tough draw at Leganes which we lost 2-0. Into the Federation cup then and we went all the way to the final where we played arguably the best side in Segunda B, Alaves, we lost the home leg 2-1 but amazingly won the away leg 1-0 but lost on away goals, typical.
