End of Season Update - 2015/2016 - Racing Club de Ferrol

Media Prediction - 15th

Actual Position - 1st - Graph

WOW! Not in my wildest of dreams did I expect to win the league, and by 14 points! Incredible season really, the players clicked, the formation clicked and everything just seemed to go right for us. Feels a bit unfair picking up particular players, but Odita, Ghader and Holy had their best seasons so far, with Odita breaking the club record for the number of league goals in a season (Could've had more if not for a 3 month injury) and Ghader likewise for assists. We won with an average age of 23!

Bit peeved that even with the league win, I'm still only a favoured personnel in the club, but I guess I can live with that! The likes of Barcelona have already strengthed for next season though, with them buying Neymar for £47 million!

Spanish Cup - We couldn't retain our trophy as we went out on away goals.

Spanish Super Cup - Our second trophy, beat Barcelona 2-1 away, and held them to a 0-0 draw at home.

Euro Cup - We thrashed AA Gent 12-1 on aggregate in the qualifying round, with a 9-0 thrashing at home, in which Odita scored 6!

Group Stages - Was quite a tight group, pleased to have qualified first.

Beat Zenit 6-2 on aggregate in the first knockout round, and Besiktas 5-0 in the second knockout round. We drew AC Milan in the quarter final, and did superbly to draw 3-3 at the San Siro but they proved too strong in the return leg

Transfers

This year, I've decided not to do a key players section, because I'd have to include every single one of my players! So here's screenshots of the 11 who started the most matches in this formation (4-1-3-1-1) :

Associação Desportiva de Machico appoint Kieran Hayden

In a stunning move by the Machico board, they have appointed inexperienced Australian manager Keiran Hayden as manager. Having just been promoted to the Portuguese Second Division North, they will be hoping he can lead them to league glory.

Great Season el sid, Do you reckon you've got a strong enough squad to retain the title?

Good luck MattSpurs94. Having just gotten out of the 2D-N myself I can tell you it's no walk in the park due to there only being 2 promotion spots for the 3 regional league winners :p

Brettneys Russian Adventure Season 13 - 2023!

ChitaLogo.png

After missing out on the Russian Premier Title last season we continued our pattern of win one lose one by winning this year faily comfortable after a couple of slight hiccups first half of the season.

Table - Graph.

Finances - Transfers.

I think as long as we don't lose too many of our top Russians we can retain the Title next season.

Europe:

We lost in the Semi Final of the 2022/23 Europa League to Man City, held them to a 0-0 at our place but couldn't get the Away goal we desperately seeked and we went on to lose 2-0. We are still in the Champions League (2023/24) and sit with a big chance of getting out the group stage for our first time ever!!! Champions League Group H

That season took awhile, haven't been on FM for nearly 2 weeks ... Just playing the Red Star game now (can we make the Champions League 1st rd ...)

Player sent off but we hang on 0-0 ... And Milan beat Anderlecht 2-0 we're in the Champions League 1st rd where we'll meet Sampdoria (could of been worse, we have a shout a small one).

Keyser Söze (Biscotti) - Oliveira do Bairro Sport Clube - Portugese Liga Orangina

Season 2014/15 - Season Summary

Start of 2014/15 situation:

Club Value: £450k - £4.5m loan debt

Media Prediction: 14th

Board Expectation: Safe mid-table

Average Ticket Price/Season Ticket Price: £5.10/£28

Squad Average Age: 24

Wage Total/Wage Budget: £6,128/£7,143

Bank Balance: £158,720

Transfer Budget: £0

The Players

After having a good season last year, I was looking to encourage some stability with my first team squad whilst also bringing in a couple more backup players.

[[Transfers]] In keeping with my plan for continuity, the only 2 transfers which weren't back-ups were Luis Solignac and Milton Abreu. António Fernandes came to join us for another season long loan as well

Key Players

  • Tiago Romeira - I did quite a bit of switching back and forth with my tactics this year, so Romeira didn't get as many starts as he perhaps could have, but 8 goals in 24 for the right-winger was a great contribution - [Stats]
  • Miguel Serôdio - Miguel was a constant at the back for us this year, and his nearly 80% tackles won with only 1 yellow card and no reds in 36 games - [Stats]
  • Alexis Quintulén - Quintulén stepped up to fill the vacant left-wing role for me after Filipe took to full time coaching and proved to be pretty useful out there for me, scoring 5 and setting up 7 - [Stats]

Prospects

My intake for 15/16 is another dismal crop of players. Nobody worth a mention :(

[*]Nuno - Coach report - Nuno came to me for free from Feirense at the start of the season and looks to have a similar potential to João Pinto.

[*]Milton Abreu - Coach report - Milton was brought to my attention by his Angolan agent as he neared the end of his contract with his home-nation club last season. After a successful trial with Oliveira Bairro I decided he could well be a fantastic option to replace my current aging right-back. Has the distiction of being the first player to recieve a full cap under my reign.

The Staff

This year my staff was filled out by a further 2 ex-players turning their hand to coaching. Very happy with my coach setup now (although better facilities would be nice). My scout network currently consists of only 3 scouts, but with me only being able to scout my local region plus Argentina and Brazil I think 3 is probably enough.

The Club

Finances were my main concern this year, especially as I was due to start paying a grat big lump each month in loan repayments. In order to combat it, I put together a bunch of friendlies in various random countries in order to try and spin a little money - it didn't amount to much though :(. My other plan for gaining some money was to make a good run at the cup, and the cup duly delivered by giving me a home match against Porto which netted me a nice £14k in gate reciepts. At the same time as this, however, I was also pushing very close to my wage limit, and it seemed that selling some fringe players was harder than it sounded

Preseason

[[Fixtures]]

Trips to Uruguay, New Zealand and China made up part of my preseason preperation this year and I felt it went extremely well.

Taça de Portugal (The Cup)

[[Fixtures]]

I said I wanted to make a run of it, and make a run I did. I was drawn against Liga Sagres side Naval in the fourth round, which had me worried slightly, but we worked hard and came out the other side as the better team. This then set us up with a home match against Porto, which was back and forth all the way through. Eventually it went to the shootout, and despite us missing our first penalty the keeper stayed strong and we prevailed. After the high of that moment, you'd think we'd have an easy ride away at 2D-C side Feirense, but instead it was them who had he easy ride as they walked all over us.

Bwin Cup

[[Fixtures]] [[Round 1 Table]]

The Bwin Cup really wasn't of too much concern for me this year, and it really showed on the pitch. Just one point from our 3 group games meant we were concentrating on other things quite early.

The League

This season started horriffically, with me not getting a league win until game 14. We seemed extremely capable of snatching a draw at the last second, but we couldn't turn those draws into wins. The second half of the season saw us pick up another 6 wins in the 15 games, and I was never actually safe until the final game.

[[Fixtures 1]] [[Fixtures 2]]

[[Table]] [[Graph]]

This was a really disappointing season for me, and I'll be looking for a significant improvement next time out. Also, after my big prize money for last year's 9th, it turns out 11th only gets about £20k. Ouch.

Awards

Quintulén and Fernandes 2nd and 3rd for the Young Player of the Year

I took 3rd place for the Manager of the Year (again)

2014/15 Goals

  • Build on last season's finish. At least the same position again - 11th place
  • Make a good run at the TdP. 5th round minimum - 6th round
  • Have a profitable season - 40k per month in loans needs to be counteracted - Down by a considerable amount :(

New Records

Club:

Highest Gate Reciepts: £14,000 v Porto in Taça de Portugal 5th Round

Biggest defeat: 5-0 v Feirense (A) in Liga Orangina

el sid - Congrats on the league win! That was quick. Very impressive.

MattSpurs94 - Good luck in Portugal!

brettney1980 - Looking good. Good job getting through the CL group. Should boost those finances when the TV-money is payed out. Fancy your chances against Sampdoria? Always hard to know which teams are good this late in a save. With regens ruling the world.

Biscotti - Bit of a step back. Hopefully a huuuge leap forward next season! Good luck! (Agree about the smilies hehe :D)

Been going slow for me. Not much time. But my season is getting close to the end finally. Just been offered a £21M transfer kit to take over Juventus, even after making it publicly know that I was not interested in the job. Obviously rejected, but I wouldn't have minded that kind of money right now. :D

One thing I can say for sure is, we're not gonna be relegated.

^Is it that close? We've got a good chance, we play better away and as long as we dont lose anyone in the next month (up to mid Jan) i fancy us to get an Away goal and keep at tight at their place.

F.B.C. Unione Venezia 2015/16

10th in Italian Serie A (pred: 20th) | Transfers | Finances | Graph

The League

Well that went a lot better than I had thought it would. Bit of a weird season. We either won or lost. Hardly drew a single game until the last 9 of the season where we drew 6. We had a real slump at the end of the season really, just 1 win in the 10 last games. But all in all an amazing first season. I really think we're over-performing with the quality of our squad.

I mentioned that A.C. Milan hired Guardiola late last season, and that seems to have payed off for them. Fiorentina followed them almost to the door but Milan ran away with it in the end. I really envy their defensive record. And I wouldn't mind having a striker like Pato, who scored 36 goals for them this season.

Game of the season - You may think it would be our 1-0 win away to Inter in our opening match of the season. But I'm gonna go for our home win against Fiorentina instead. First reason is that we lost 4-1 to them away and was completely outplayed in that match. Second and more important reason is that Fiorentina was top of the table and had still not lost a single game when we beat them. Amazing performance against a squad filled with quality we can only dream of. It's also nice to see that we can compete with teams who are spending more on wages on single players than we do on our entire squad.

Italian Cup (fixtures) - Not bad. We at least beat a Serie A team (Atalanta), but Roma was to strong in the 1st Round. Still a new record for us to reach that round.

It's quite clear that we need a striker (or two). Our top goal scorer was Traore (central defender) with 6 goals. Not at all good enough. I need a couple of double-figure strikers. Already lined up Daniel Aquino when his contract runs out, but not sure his physical stats will cut it in this league. Still expect him to provide 10+ though.

Mael Vallet is our biggest star atm. He damaged his achilles tendon and was out for 3 months this season, but I still think he was our most valuable player. Although he may have to share it with our central defenders Traore, Toniolo and Sehnal. I'm extra pleased with Toniolos progress.

All in all we probably need to improve in all parts of the team. We're average at best both in defense and attack atm.

The Finances

Finishing 10th gave us £3.6M in price money, which saves us from losing money. That and a few good co-own sales. It looks healthy enough, but we're losing £600-700k each month and that's being well below the wage budget. Can't wait for the new stadium. Just have to get through another season and that should help our finances a lot.

The Future

Looking good. I was expecting a very hard season and instead we never looked in danger. Hopefully we can do something similar next season and build from there when the new stadium is in place.

We're also getting a upgrade to training facilities after I demanded it by telling the board I thought we'd be falling behind the other teams if they refused. We still only have average training and basic youth facilities, so I'm glad they are improving.

F.B.C. Unione Venezia - Pre Season 2016/17

We got a new main kit sponsorship worth £1.55M per season (for 3 seasons), and a 1 year general sponsorship of £743K. I was also informed that we'll be getting around £4M in TV-money this season, which is almost £4M more than last season. So that's great news.

The board also have agreed to expand our youth network and improve the youth facilities. I'm guessing this won't happen until next summer though.

With the board giving me £10M to spend for my "avoid relegation" goal, I sent my entire scouting crew out to scout youth-Internationals with EU-nationality (cause you can only sign 1 non-eu per season in Italy). I scouted all U23 players worth below £2M. It took a lot of time (and I spent the whole budget and then some from sales), but I think we've found some real gems for the future here.

Transfer History (what's missing in transfers out is just a load of crappy youth I released on a free)

Martins (DMC/MC) - Done deal before window as contract was running out. Looks very promising.

Vladimir Berger (MC) - Another deal done as contract was running out. Promising.

Ruben Altube (GK) - And another free one. Backup goalie.

Daniel Aquino (SC) - Already mentioned in season update.

Gino Braun (SC) - Another free one. Hot prospect for U20s for now.

Igor Suker (SC) - Hot prospect. Could be a leading star if my scout knows best.

Brian Christensen (DMC) - Not a new player, just won him back for peanuts on co-own deal. Reserves.

Emilio Balsamo (MC) - Bought from Fiorentinas reserves. Italian and very hot prospect (4,5 star)

Marco Panzeri (SC) - The biggest money signing. 5 star potential according to my best scout. Only halfway to his potential still, so he's looking like he could be amazing in a few years.

Francisco Marti (GK) - Another backup goalie.

Gianluca Cirillo (MC) - Another Italian 4,5 star potential midfielder. This one stolen from Inters reserves.

Adriano Carmo (DRL) - Very young, very promising. 5 star potential.

Sebastian Dahlgren (MC) - Another very hot prospect. U20s for now.

Benjamin Jobarteh (GK) - Probably the scoop of the window. Just £1M and he's already our best player at 4 stars current ability. With 5 star potential he could become a world class GK in a few years. I just hope that injury he's already got isn't a sign of things to come.

Yordan Angelov (DL) - Another really hot prospect. 4,5 stars.

Marino Yuste (SC) - And another at 4,5 stars.

Kilian Etchegaray (DRC) - And another with 5 star potential. Second most expensive signing.

I'm especially excited about Marco Panzeri, who could become a real superstar, and Jobarteh who I think was a real catch. But I'm really happy with all of these signings. If only a few of them reach their potential we'll have a pretty decent team in 2-3 years time. I'm not sure we're really much better off than last year though. Will take time to develop most of these lads. But I feel like we have a very promising squad. Average age at the moment is 21.

PS! Where is everyone?

i'm here.... just. not been playing my Louhans game for a couple of weeks as relegation hit me hard. been dabbling with a carrer game but having doubts about that too now. struggling to find a game to settle on. might have to come back to my 'home' though and try a new game. italy or spain maybe as they're the places i've always enjoyed the most.

As for you and Venezia, doing me proud! as for those signings, some REAL quality there. if you can keep them together and develop you WILL ne Serie A champions in 3 years.

P.S. Everyone, please come back to the best challenge on FM! follow my example!

End of Season Update - 2014/2015 - Mantova F.C

Cant remember a lot of this season as I finished it awhile ago and forgot to update, but it was a fantastic season being promotion contenders from the off, hitting abit of a blip near Christmas but finding out feet again with afew new signings settling in.

We also purchased the stadium and got a nice new kit sponsorship deal.

Cups:

Nothing to note in the cup runs.

Players:

Transfers

Key Players:

Forgot to take screenies before the new season, sorry.

Cristian Tiboni - 3 years as a key player now scoring 21 in all competitions with an average of 7.34.

Alejandro Gomez - Signed from Catania for £750k and he has been my own Messi, great little winger, P42 G10 A19 AVG 7.32.

Angri - 2011/2012 - End of Season Review

Predicted Position: 16th

Actual Position: 9th

Average Attendance: 2108

Season Ticket Holders: 448

A solid start to life in Serie C2/C. Fairly unspectatular but at the same time a good position, positive goal difference and more wins than defeats are all plus points.

A large number of players were used over the course of the season as i searched for some quality to help in my first season. As a result i had 3 top scorers, each only scoring 6 goals apiece. The goals were pretty spread out among the squad.

The most notable players were:

Antonio Coglitore - first choice gk, previously of Napoli, solid when called upon, could be very good in another season or two hopefully

Luca Ferri - brought some much-needed experience to the lineup, decent and pretty much an ever-present this season

Angelo Corsi - free transfer, highest average rating of my regulars, hopefully continue decent form next season

Jurgen Pandiani - another freebie, i thought he looked fairly promising for this level, and 1/3 goal to game ratio aint too bad

Gianluca Litteri - main strike partner for pandiani, again 1/3 goals to games is decent. hope for more next season

Going forward i shall need to try and do some more ducking and diving in the transfer market, hopefully now that we're safely settled in the league a few more promising options will become available. well thats the hope anyway. And as i brought in a total of 32 players over the course of the season, i can guarantee that there will be a lot of comings and goings in the next transfer window

Onwards and upwards!!!

Keyser Söze (Biscotti) - Oliveira do Bairro Sport Clube - Portugese Liga Orangina

Season 2015/16 - Season Summary

Start of 2015/16 situation:

Club Value: £475k - £4.5m loan debt

Media Prediction: 14th

Board Expectation: Avoid Relegation

Average Ticket Price/Season Ticket Price: £5.40/£30

Squad Average Age: 24

Wage Total/Wage Budget: £8,030/£7,650

Bank Balance: -£29,115

Transfer Budget: £0

The Players

Last year really disappointed me, so I wanted to bounce straight back with a good season. This meant I wanted to strengthen the squad a fair bit.

[[Transfers]] The summer window saw bids come in for both Serôdio and Quintulén, but after knocking those bids back both players came to me saying they wanted a move to a bigger club. They both were moving into the last year of their contracts, and I didn't feel confident about getting them to sign a new deal if they wanted out, so I took the decision to cash-in on them. Both of them stated they were sad to part with me as they left. Silva on the other hand had been a problem for me all last season, stirring trouble and making my life difficult, so he was out the door as well. In came Thiago and Dani (Both veteran central midfielders) bringing some strength to a position where I felt I lacked quite a bit.

Squad stats

Key Players

  • Dani reclaims his spot on this list after an excellent season. 11 goals and 17 assists isn't half bad for an attacking midfielder in a 30 game season - [Stats]
  • Rocha - After a pretty quiet first season with us, Rocha really stepped up after Serôdio moved on, becoming the rock at the heart of the defence - [Stats]
  • João Rodrigues - The on-loan winger definitely did a solid job of running that left flank. Will be looking to bring him back again - [Stats]

Prospects

I'm beginning to think my Youth Academy is doing something wrong, as once again I've had no decent youngsters come through this year.

[*]Ricardo Casaleiro - Coach report - One of only 2 players in my squad to have a 5* potential

[*]João Pinto - Coach report - My other 5* potential player. He's been with the club for a few years now, and is finally starting to get regular games. I'm a little worried, however, that he'll never reach his potential at Oliveira Bairro

The Staff

No changes at all in the backroom this season, but a few staff members are due to expire over thie summer of '16, so I will have to find replacements.

The Club

Finances are still my biggest concern, but with my wage outgoings pretty much the same as last season it's still really hard to break even, let alone make profit. Hopefully moving into the new stadium for the 16/17 season will mean bigger crowds and therefore better gate reciepts. My facilities were also downgraded at the end of the year :(

Preseason

[[Fixtures]]

Some disappointing results in there, not boding well for the new season.

Taça de Portugal (The Cup)

[[Fixtures]]

Didn't make it past the third round this time, going out on penalties to lower league opposition :(

Bwin Cup

[[Fixtures]] [[Round 1 Table]]

And excellent first round saw us top the group, but ultimately the second round is heavily stacked against the Liga Orangina sides and so we went out without too much fight. I'm really not a fan of the format of this competition.

The League

Where last season started badly, this season saw us start amazingly with a great win away at Aves. Unfortunately, our form was all over the place and we spent the first half of the season yo-yoing up and down continuously. This wasn't helped by the fact we were struggling to maintain discipline on the pitch. Ultimately we floundered about a lot and at about the halfway point it became clear we were going to be fighting to stay up again this year. We cut it a bit closer this time, and I'm definitely going to have to look at changing something fundamental for next year.

[[Fixtures 1]] [[Fixtures 2]]

[[Table]] [[Graph]]

I'm very confused by the prize money going on here, as after getting practically nothing for my 11th last year, I was handed £150k for this years competition.

Overview

Well, a better season, back into Europe so some possible extra money, would like to make an assault on the top spot again soon though, I've had loads of time in the top tier not really making progress.

Star Players

Jesus Galan - He's World Class, but after a couple of years of being unhappy I've had to let him leave, he's joining Chelsea for what

Anthony Babin - Rock at the heart of the defence.

Badji Sacko - He doesn't score much, but we're a much better team with him in it.

Didier Song - The reason I could let Galan go - this guy could be a great replacement.

Tarik El Amrani - Hugely excited about him.

Marin Vitanov - nice solid winger.

End of Season Update - 2015/2016 - Mantova F.C

League:

Media Prediction - 20th

Actual Position - 15th

Very good a promising season, we managed to survive our 1st season in Serie A and I will look to improve on this season, some very good performances by some players and some not so good, I am happy that we have kept the same team since our days in C1/A and only improved where needed, instead of buying 10+ 1st team players a season.

Not a lot to mention about our youth academy, we have improved the quality of our facilities but not players coming through as of yet.

We also had our facilities downgraded which isn’t good but a board request later and were improving them again.

Cups:

Only 1st round of the Italian Cup but played well against Juventus holding them to a 0-0 away then losing on penalties, well not even scoring 1 in 3 we took.

Players:

Really sorry forgot to take screenies of my players for this season.

Transfers

Key Players:

Denis Nocerino - Well this makes it 4 season on the bounce Denis has made it as a key player, just fantastic, struggling to hold off the big teams from signing him tho.

Jermaine Jones - Signed for £1.7m and he was the sort of player we needed at this level, strong, brave and very determined player.

Alejandro Gomez - This guy cant stay out of my key players list, made the step-up very well and was a blessing for us, 16 assists in 37 games.

Cristian Tiboni - Our best Forward this season, although didn’t play all season but around Christmas stepped in and did his job scoring 11 in 25 games.

Touted/Dubbed/Labelled

Matthias Straub, Touted the next Stefan Reuter.

William, Dubbed the next Fillipe.

P.S. Everyone, please come back to the best challenge on FM! follow my example!

Is coming back...Relegation really hurt me with Darfo Boario so I was playing an ABC...career game, which I have hit a wall with right now.

So I am coming back to town, not sure where yet, but somewhere different for me is a must...might go play in Russia as I enjoyed that with my first club in my career game.

rlipscombe and LLR - Looking forward to seeing you back in action where ever you end up starting.

danger_mouse - Congrats on both promotion and staying up. Good luck next season. :)

G-Wiz - Good first season. Good luck in the hunt for promotion! And it's nice to see even more people in Italy.

Biscotti - Was hoping you'd be on the other half of that table this season really. As for facilities being downgraded, I don't think they have technically gotten worse. They are at the same level, but the rest of the world have moved forward so in relation to the best they have become worse. I think that's a new system this year. I've played 10+ seasons at Man Utd for instance, and I've had facilities "downgraded" this way there as well. Just have to keep upgrading non-stop now. Anyways, I digress, good luck next season! Hopeing for a promotion fight. :)

PRDH - Good position again. Hope you can step into the top 4 on a regular basis soon. Sad to see Galan go, he really looks amazing. Good luck with the seasons you're probably already done with. :)

It's going slow for me as well (not much time atm), but I'm done with another season finally. Will post a report asap.

F.B.C. Unione Venezia 2016/17

5th in Italian Serie A (pred: 16th) | Transfers | Finances | Graph

The League

You wanna bet on Venezia matches, bet on Home or Away. Again we seem to either win or lose and hardly ever draw. We managed to pick up a few more wins this season though, scoring 16 more goals this season, which helps. This put us into 5th place in the end. It was very close between the teams 5th to 10th though tbh. Still, amazing position and we'll be in Europe next season.

With 8 games left to go we were actually in the race for the title still. Even though we were 5th in the table at that point as well it was just 4 points up to 1st place. Roma and AC Milan really ran away with it in those last 8 games though. Didn't exactly help us that we played Juventus, Genoa, Roma and then Milan (the top 4) in our last 4 games and lost every one of them.

One thing that annoys me a bit about Italy is the lack of goals from open play. If you check the squad ratings you'll see that my central defenders have scored 5, 6 and 7. With that I thought maybe we'd be best in the league on goals from set pieces, but looking at team stats for Goals from IFKs and Goals from Corners, we're actually equal with many other teams. I guess that's just the way the game is in Italy. Hard tackling and man marking. But I wonder what would happen if we tried playing a very offensive formation instead.

If you look at the table and remove set piece goals from all teams, you get very few teams above 1 goal per game on average. And none above 2 games per game on average. I'm not sure I like this. I always enjoyed leagues where scoring goals is preferred to not conceding them.

Also worth a mention, again, is Inter Milan. Boy have they lost it now. 13th place this season and onto their 8th manager in 6 seasons. Amazing!

Result of the Season - Beating Inter Milan 3-0 away. Kinda shows what I mean by them having lost it.

Performance of the Season - Beating Sampdoria 5-0 away. Totally brilliant performance. Scoring every big chance we had, and not letting them have a single CCC.

Italian Cup (fixtures) - Pathetic! I played a slightly weakened side, but losing 3-0 at home to Atalanta is just, pathetic! It wasn't even a even game, they deserved to win by 3 goals. Did I mention I think we were pathetic!

Marco Panzeri was worth the money already I think. He's touted as the next Paolo Rossi now. He also managed to hit double figures for goals scored. Which was something I missed last year. He was injured several times which is why he only started 19 league matches. I think 10 goals in those is pretty good in this league for a striker. Aquino and Ntsama did ok as well.

Best performers overall was Toniolo and Vallet. Toniolo only got 16 matches this season cause he had injury problems as well. Vallet almost managed 30 matches and is probably our biggest star still. He was wanted by a few clubs, but I managed to lure him onto a new 4 year contract, so the interest have faded.

Etchegaray had a great first season. He had to play both RB and DC every other game cause of injuries, and did brilliant in both roles.

Alan was bought in January. He was transfer listed at Barcelona. He started off with a goal and an assist in his first match, but was average after that. He's only 17 though, and on a long term deal, so I'll wait to judge until he's 20+. Richard Aase also joined on a free mid-season, but he's really just a average talent I'm hoping to sell or get some co-own money for in the future.

I think the DMC role is what I really wanna change. Martins is great, but he's better at MC (more attacking qualities). I want someone more like a central defender at DMC, and I think I found him already. Marco Pedrosa is joining on the 1st of July for £1.2M. My scouts say he's got 4,5 star potential, and his weakness is his pace and that he's a bit inconsistent. Both can be improved I'm sure, he's very young still.

Have to say I really enjoy having such a young squad for once. We might do better with a couple of old experienced stars in the team, but so far I haven't found anyone I want. I wouldn't mind having Daniele de Rossi for instance, but I doubt he'd like a £110k/week wage-cut even if he's let go at the end of his contract next summer. :p

The Finances

It looks ok on paper, but behind the numbers it's easy to see that we're relying on random factors. TV Revenue went from £800k last season, to £10.1M this season!!! We made £4.1M in prize money, which is only £500k more than last year. We also sold players for £5.7M. Hopefully the prize money and tv-money is something we can rely on in the future now. We're still way below our wage budget.

The Future

- We're moving into our new 16,462 capacity stadium in 27 days.

- We're in Europe next season.

- Our finances look very safe.

- We got a very young squad with players who still have potential to improve a lot.

- My board is planning upgrades for our youth facilities youth recruitment network as we speak.

Basically, it looks bright.

I also really really really look forward to playing in Europe next season. Not only cause it's a step forward, but because it means I get to see how we do against teams from other nations. As I mentioned I don't at all like the "hack-and-slash" kind of football teams in Italy play, so I'm hoping to see us score a few more goals in Europe. At least if we get a lucky draw.

East Stirlingshire - Scottish 3rd Division - Season 2011-12

small_East_Stirlingshire_Home.jpgsmall_East_Stirlingshire_Away.jpg

Introduction

So, after a few weeks away from the best challenge on Football Manager, i am back refreshed, re-motivated and ready for another crack at completion. i experimented with having a go in Spain again and even went through a pre-season with a team, but i wasn't fully hooked on it. i was then looking through the saves i had on my PC for FM11 and i found one i had for East Stirlingshire in Scotland. i had another little dabble with it and have been drawn into life north of the border.

So, why Scotland? well first off it's a break from the larger nations i have played the past couple of years. i also love scotland as a ciountry and have been there a few times, most recently just over a year ago for my honeymoon. i also want to break up the glasgow monopoly and help a new team (hopefully) to the elite of scottish football.

So, why East Stirlingshire? well i've always had a little soft spot for them as groing up i remember seeing them bottom of the 3rd division each season. there was then a book released about them called "Pointless" which i bought and started to read. (i have actually dug it out again and am comtemplating completing it) now in the past couple of seasons they have improved and have actually pushed for promotion the last couple of seasons. the opportunity to manage them and help them to the holy grail of the 2nd division and beyond has brought me to this point.

So, on a cold day in late May i was unveiled as the new manager of "The 'Shire". having finished bottom the previous year, my immediate aim is to make them competitive again and get us up the leagues. the squad is average to say the least and i have spent the pre-season trying to rebuild. money is VERY tight at this level and with no transfer budget and only #1,300 p/w on wages it's going to be tough.

first job has been to clear out some deadwood on decent wages in order to accomodate my players. this has been really tough and i've had to free transfer a few but needs must. as for my transfer strategy, i have opted for investing in youth. given the state of the finances in scotland, i think i'll have to rely on generating money through player sales. i have therefore spent the summer trialing a lot of players release by the big clubs in Scotland and England. i have found some rich pickings this way and i'm quite pleased with the squad i'm developing. i managed to get ex-Owls players Francis Jeffers and Etienne Esajas in on trial but unfortunately they're too greedy for my budget. shame as they, Esajas in particular, could have tore up this league.

i'll save introducing some of the players for now as i'm not sure as yet who'll become key for us. pre-season went pretty well though and a few money-spinning home friendlies helped with the finances a little.

So, i'm off onto a journey through the depth of Scottish football - wish me luck!

Good luck there rlipscombe. When you teased us with Scotland before I just presumed you were going to be like everyone else and play Queens Park. How many times did you have to run the save to get East Stirlingshire to finish bottom? Or did you just have a save there already set up?

i dabbled in Russia as them but didn't progress it. good luck in Russia though!

You seem to have a dabble everywhere, I have built a fairly strong team, after a first up 4:1 loss to Dinamo Moscow in friendlies I am now strong enough to compete if not do well in the 1st division straight off.

Best of luck with East Stirlingshire, I believe I may have give you that save at some point as I have one with them in my games folder :p

so having been 4 points clear at the top of Serie C/2C at new year 2013, my pc has decided to crash mid-save, resulting in me losing the last 6 months work, all my signings, every tiny bit of progress i has started to make with the team...:(

just trying to establish at the moment whether any of my rolling save files are able to load, otherwise its back to square one for me...the funny thing is the exact same thing happened to me on FM10 with the same team, starting to think Angri are cursed

back to square one, gutted. just started getting into this game, and its happened again. not one of my save files is loading, not sure where to do now...

rlips may have inspired me to try a scottish game, part of me wants to start again with Angri, and something else inside me wants me to try turkey again after the taster i got in FM10
