So, as I’m now 10 years into this save I thought it’d be good to take a walk down memory lane (similarly to DSYoungEsq but not as in depth! :)) and see just what has happened these past 10 years…

Players history

Over the past 10 years we've had some great players (and some bad players!) pull on the green shirt...here we pay homage to the Happy Valley greats.

He also won 4 caps for Hong Kong.

He was such a great player for us that when he retired I offered him a role as a scout with the club.

Love that World Cup run by Wales! They seem to do well in 2014 in more than one save. Maybe a harbinger of things to come... :D

Do you think, having looked at your team's progress for 10 years, that your players now are significantly better than they were when you were first signing players like Kang Hyo?

Wales runner-up World Cup 2014.

Nice summary. Are you going to stay with Happy Valley for another 10 years? :)

Cheers rancer. I'd like to stay for another 10 years but having ambitions of winning the ACL and playing in another country, I probably doubt it...then again, you never know!

A great world cup for the taffies! It could be a sign of things to come, they do have quality in Gareth Bale, Aaron Ramsey, Joe Ledley and Craig Bellamy...and also Hal Robson Kanu of course! ;)

There's no doubt that the players we're signing now are significantly better than they were when we were first signing players like Kang Hyo. A simple comparison of their playing profiles shows this with Kang Hyo's profile looking like this in 2011/12 and our new signings Souza and Ionut Teodorescu looking like this and this in 2021/22. Our progress on the continental front also supports the theory that we're signing better players. Unfortunately, I don't have the time to do an in depth analysis like you though ;)

Great 10 year summary. If Wales make it to the World Cup Final in 2014 in real life, I'll eat that poodle!

Thanks AK22. I hope you stand by eating that poodle in 3 years time! ;)

Well, i've just finished my 11th season when I received this message...

Arrayerror.png

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! :(. I've tried everything to get past it but nothing has worked, so unfortunately it looks like the end of the road for this save :( It's so demoralising after putting so much time and effort into the save :(.

Try the help forum?

I will do, cheers :)

It's horrible when something like that happens.

Unfortunately it's not the first time i've had a crash dump/array out of bounds :( but I managed to get past those.

Dislike

Someone likes facebook ;) I dislike too

Booooooooo. Unlucky Raware.

:( I'm currently trying to figure a way past this. I have learnt from previous experiences and have a back up save of this but it means replaying the last 6 months.

I just had this message and I clicked off it, then everything continued as usual..? Is that normal?

I'm not sure but it didn't work for me. Luckily, I had a back up save of this (I learnt from past experiences of losing games!) :D so have managed to get this back up and running even if I did have to replay a few months.

Season 2021/22 : Mid-season update

Hong Kong First Division : Another great start for us leaves us sitting top of the league, just ahead of Kitchee who seem to be our nearest rivals now as South China once again ‘struggle’. I say ‘struggle’ because although they’ve only lost once and drew three times so far, it is quite poor for them and something that they’re not used to. But there’s still half of the season left and we can’t think about other teams; all we can do is concentrate on our own game and try and win as many games as possible to retain our title.

Season 2021/22 : Review

Hong Kong First Division/Hong Kong First Division progress/Hong Kong First Division fixtures : So, we managed to claim the title for the 4th successive year with 4 games to go as we only lost 1 game all season, surprisingly to relegated Biu Chun. I think I can safely say now that we are THE dominant team in Hong Kong, taking over from rivals South China (whose manager incidentally still claims in the media that we will never be the dominant team . It shows how much he knows!).

Hong Kong Senior Shield : Another fairly tricky route in this competition saw us dispose of both Sun Hei and Rangers (HKG) on our way to the final. Unfortunately though, we failed to turn up as Kitchee totally outplayed us in the final to go on and win the Senior Shield and make up for their defeat in last seasons final.

Hong Kong League Cup/Hong Kong League Cup Group Stage : Easy peasy lemon squeezy, even if we did need extra time in the final.

Hong Kong FA Cup : We suffered a scare in the first round but after that, breezed through the competition as we defeated Second Division Double Flower in the final.

Asian Confederation Cup/ Asian Confederation Cup Group Stage : We made easy work of the group stages as we once again qualified for the knockout stages, but that’s where the easy work stopped as we managed to scrape through the following rounds including the final which we managed to win on penalties to claim our third Asian Confederation Cup :D.

Transfers : It was a quiet couple of transfer windows for us as we brought in back up keeper Mu Li and Colombian defender Andres Osorio both on free transfers. I did bring in two other players at the start of the season, those being Brazilian Fabinho for £50k and Guinea born Ibrahima Keita for a club record £275k but for some reason it was listed on last seasons transfers.

Squad : The squad of players once again showed the quality amongst it by claiming another 3 trophies and gained another year in experience. The back line is still looking fairly weak and getting older by the year so a couple of defenders are a necessity I think during the summer. Hu Feng again knocked in the goals for us as he hit 11 in all competitions while Ionut Teodorescu started to show signs of his ability as he hit 14 goals in all competitions which has generated interest from clubs such as FC Seoul, Dundee United and Aab.

Finances : We still have a decent bank balance but worryingly lost money overall for the second successive season. A stadium expansion or involvement in the ACL should rectify that.

Hong Kong

Season 2021/22 : Season Review

Asian Challenge Cup Qualifying/ Asian Challenge Cup Qualifying group : As expected, we qualified from the group stage relatively easy as we beat Tajikistan, Macau (China PR) and East Timor to secure our place in the Asian Challenge Cup proper.

Asian Challenge Cup/ Asian Challenge Cup group : We were out to defend our title this time round so the pressure was on us a little. Having drawn Nepal, Myanmar and Malaysia in the groups, I was fairly confident of qualifying from that group, but we failed to turn up throughout the tournament and didn’t win a game :(. The HKFA were slightly concerned with our performances and my job status went to insecure. Having thought it through and looking at the players available to me, I came to the conclusion that I had done all I could with the Hong Kong national team and decided to resign while I still had my dignity!

Cheers rancer . I think I did all I could with Hong Kong and actually am very happy with what I did do there considering the poor state of the nation in footballing terms compared to the rest of the world.

I'm really itching to go to another club now but am struggling to get another job. No-one's interested despite my continental reputation :(. I've applied for countless jobs and have even declared interest about other jobs (which hasn't pleased the board btw) but still can't get anything .

I have been offered a Ukrainian Premiership job and the Melbourne Heart job while at National rep in Iceland :p

Lucky you! What's the secret then cause apparently I have "no chance" of being considered for the jobs i'm applying for. Maybe i'm applying for jobs with too much of a high reputation?

Another great season. Stick with it and I'm sure the 'big clubs' will start calling soon! Where do you fancy going?

Thanks AK22. I hope you're right. I quite fancy going to either China or Australia as i've never played there before. I would also consider South Korea but I have played there in FM09. But saying that and looking at how things are going, i'd consider a job anywhere at the minute! ;)

It was in the season when I won the domestic treble while being predicted to finish third in the league and knocked a Polish Premiership team out of the EURO Cup and drew with Rubin from Russia in Russia... That might have something to do with it?

You'll get a job, I'm sure of it. :) Happy Valley won't be so happy afterward.

Season 2022/23 : Mid-season update

Hong Kong First Division : It’s becoming normality for us to be heading the pack at the halfway mark of the season now and this season is no different. We’ve put in some good performances so far which has included hammering our local rivals Rangers (HKG) 6-0, but Kitchee are hot on our heels and South China are always there at the end of the season so there’s still a long way to go yet for us to claim our 5th consecutive league title.

Season 2022/23 : Review

Hong Kong First Division/Hong Kong First Division progress/Hong Kong First Division fixtures : We claimed our 5th successive league title as the challenge from both Kitchee and South China faded away towards the end of the season. We actually claimed the title with 3 games to go against our most hated and fierce rivals South China (something to shove down Kim Pan-Gon’s throat! ;)) so that was a nice feeling in what could well be my last season with Happy Valley……………..???????

Hong Kong Senior Shield : After last seasons defeat in the final I wanted to make up for it, but we were left shell shocked as local rivals Rangers (HKG) did a number on us.

Hong Kong League Cup/Hong Kong League Cup Group Stage : We had a straight forward passage to the final where we beat hated rivals South China 2-1..

Hong Kong FA Cup : We were quite lucky in the draw and despite a scare in the semi final, we went on to defeat TSW Pegasus 4-2 in the final to claim our 3rd successive FA Cup.

Asian Champions League/Asian Champions League Group Stage : We were back with the big boys of Asia after our Asian Confederation Cup win last season. We navigated through the qualifying stages with surprising ease to be placed in group H along side Seongnam, Chengdu and Nagoya Stolz and to be honest, both the board and I expected nothing more than to learn from the experience. But, we managed to qualify courtesy of goal difference to set up a 2nd round tie with Chinese champions Shandong where we were unlucky to lose in extra time. Still, we can be immensely proud of our performance in the ACL and it shows just how far we’ve come.

Transfers : The transfer windows were extremely quiet for us as we didn’t sign anyone. Out the door saw two players leave, Feng Zhuoyi on a free and Colombian Andres Osorio, who after a couple of seasons with us was whining about moving, so off he went.

Squad : The squad were fantastic again this season as both domestically and continentally they played some great stuff to claim 3 more trophies this season. However, they are an ageing squad with an average age of 28 and the defence is still looking fairly fragile (according to my coaching reports). Hu Feng and Ionut Teodorescu continued to knock the goals in for us as they netted 39 times between them and Ionut Teodorescu managed to claim both the Hong Kong Footballer of the Year award and the Hong Kong First Division top goal scorer award while Hideaki Nagatomi claimed the Hong Kong Fans’ Player of the Year award.

Finances : Thanks to our superb run in the Asian Champions League our finances are looking very healthy indeed :D.

Best of luck at Liaoning, and thanks again for the advice about the crash dump, it worked. :)

No problem mate, glad you got it sorted. I know the pain of having the dreaded 'crash dump' message.

Liaoning

So, having joined Liaoning halfway through the 2023 season, they’re very much under achieving as they sit 9th in the Chinese National First Division. Both the board and the media were expecting us to win the league but since I arrived halfway through the season, they’ve told me that they won’t be judging me. The same can be said about the FA Cup, which is good really as we were knocked out in the First round! The squad upon my arrival is looking fairly decent but for us to make any kind of push for promotion, it desperately needs improving. To do this the board has given me a transfer budget of £1.4 million and wage budget of £25k per week.

Yay, Raware's finally leaving! Have fun with Liaoning! They're always a good Jia League team so I don't think it'll be that hard to get to the Super League! Still lots of time to make that promotion push! :)

I thought i'd never get an offer! There's still 19 games left so im quite hopeful of that promotion push with the squad we've got.

Squad looks quite good, what kind of formation are you thinking about?

Yeah, the squad's half decent and should have enough quality in it to compete in the league. I'm hoping to stick with my preferred formation of a counter attacking 4-1-3-2 which I used at Happy Valley.

Well?? Dragon got your tongue?

:D. Not had much time to play recently with work and family commitments. Hopefully i'll get some FM time in soon though :D.
