Pitch Sizes.

Ive been analysing pitch sizes and from what i can tell from the scout report.

103 or below is a short pitch, 105 and above is a long pitch.

68 or below is a narrow pitch, 70 or above is a wide pitch.

Can anyone else comment, and give me some ideas please?

Is 69 narrow or wide, is 104 short or long?

is it 90 - 110 in terms of the sliders and 60 - 80?

CL teams have hardly any scope to adjust their pitch size. I think nearly all teams have 68x105 in that. Thats all the help I can offer though.

At the start of the season the standard pitch size is I think 69 x 104, so 69 is neither narrow or wide but average. The same can be said for 104 length wise.

Thanks. This a long pitch, which suits a direct style. However 68 is still on the Narrow side. Its not really long, its not really narrow. So I imagine you can play which ever style you like on this kind of pitch.

Because the scout report always focus's on the fact it is a long pitch, i am inclined to go just direct, just a bit wide and down the flanks with a quick tempo as i find this yields good results.

I would feel uneasy going direct and narrow or short and wide. Has anyone ever had any success doing that??

Thanks. Well it does say that 102 x 65 is a standard size, but i cant see this because 102 is a short and 65 is a narrow pitch. This is an an easy one for me, as is 101 x 64, you go short passing, slow tempo, through the middle, always gives the best results on these pitches.

As it happens, chelseas pitch is 104 x 68, got a scout report last night and it says short pitch, so 104 is shorth. Therefore the length is sorted.

However length is not sorted at all, i know 75 is really wide, and 68 is on the narrow, i suspect that 69 may still be on the narrow side and 70 is where wide begins, but those blooming scouts refuse to focus on the width and prefer to tell me how long or short it is. I already know how long and short it is!!!!!!!!!!!!!
