New Tactic needed for higher rep team.

Recommended Posts

Hello,

I have completed 2 seasons with West Ham and after guiding us to a 6th place finish in 1st season and 5th in the 2nd with a "more direct" and "more expressive" tactic, I have noticed that in the opening 4 games of the 3rd season my team is really struggling with the same things that came so easy previously.

After a quick scout throught the General Discussion I see a thread saying that as your rep goes up other teams look at you as a bigger threat and so set up to counter your old tactics.

Could anyone advise me on how to go about setting up a new tactic to get back to fighting for champs league football because at this rate I reckon I could be in for a long slug at the wrong end of the table!

Hi :)

Well for starters we need some actual tactic info so we can help you, if not it's all guess work. What tactic do you currently use and what seem to be the issues you are facing now? Things like not enough goals? conceding too many? struggling to break teams down? What kind of players do you have? etc.

We need a lot more info to be able to help you.

Also check out these must read threads and see if you can pick any ideas up :)

Thanks for replying mate.

I currently play a 4-4-2, Philosophy is Balanced and Starting Strategy is Standard.

Passing style is More Direct

Creative Freedom-More Expressive

Closing Down-Press More

Tackling- More Aggresive

Marking ,Crossing and Roaming are all default

My centre halfs are set at Defend

My full backs are set to support

L/m and R/m are set to Wide Midfielders and Attack

1 Centre mid is set to central midfielder and defend, while the other is set central Midfielder and attack

1 striker set as deep laying striker and support the other is advanced forward

All my players are set to rarely attempt long shots aswell.

The 1st two seasons this formation worked very well, getting me results at places I didn't expect plus banging in goals against lesser teams, Now the problem I have encountered after 5 games of 3rd season is that my players have stopped passing the ball aswell as they had done, losing possesion easy, not as much movement when we have got the ball and when the opposition attack they are not getting stuck in like my tactics are telling them too.

Do you need anymore information?

Thanks for them links aswell mate, reckon they are defo gonna come in handy in the coming seasons!
