[FM11] Arsene.... Who?

Arsenal is a club with alot of history, and after being demolited by Man Utd recently, I decided it would be worth my time and effort to get them to conquer the global competitions.

My personal goals are to turn them into monsters, win the quad two seasons in a row, then i'll resign and take over a relegated club and try to take the crown off them.

As it stands I decided to do this after already completing a season, so alot of the screenshots aren't paticulary accurate, but here we go.

2010 - 2011

Transfers - in Out

Was I happy with these transfers? No, not really. The board only gave me 21 million to spend when I joined, obviously Cahill was my first signing which ment I only had 15 million to spend, I put bids in for Adler, Alex Smithies and Igor Akinfeev. They was all accepted, at that point I decided, Adler was the one that I want, so I withdrew from talks and asked the board to negotiate for me, his wage demands for me was 64k, however for them he decided 75k is what he wanted, so that's what they paid.

A week later a 70 million bid + clauses bid came in for Fabregas from Man City, I was distraught. In one hand Fabregas would be my talisman, in the other hand 70 million would buy me a keeper, a CM and a new winger all of which I felt would be vital for me to do well in the league. In the end I rejected it. As I felt it would give man city too much power in the league.

When January came, it was nothing short of a relieve, the board gave me another 20 million to spend and I was delighted to bring in the winger I wanted, first I went for Balotelli, mostly because I wanted someone who could use trickery to go by there opponent, however Man City wanted 54 million for him, and even if I had that, I wouldn't spend that on him, so I turned my attentions to Ashley young, got to contracts 63k a year, the deal was almost done.. when an amazing agent offered me Elijero Elia, well I knew I had met my match, 24 dutch fast and can go by his opponent. All I would need to do is work on is finishing and he would be a dream signing. Only downside is they wanted 74k a week, which I begrudgingly accepted.

Before I talk about how the season progressed let me give you a brief summery of the issues I had to face

Van Persie - Broke his leg

Vermaelen liked to get injured often too.

All in all a fantastic first season, however I was never going to count this season in my goal list, as it still isn't my team and my blend of players or something I built, however it was an amazing achievement and with any luck I'll get some cash from it to spend!

Best players -

3) Gary Cahill - This guy was a rock, nothing got past him and he scored 11 goals with his head. 6 million for someone with a average rating of 7.81? Any day of the week

2) Jack Wilshere - Showed significant signs of whats to come this season, he played alot more than I would've like due to Nasri being out alot, but Wilshere was the leading assister with 22 and broke into the England team.

1) Theo Walcott - Nothing I can say will meet the praise he deserves, he scored 19 goals, never let me down, he shot down the right wing, I don't remember a time he missed a match, he did pick up knocks but that didn't stop him playing and on some occasions scoring. Liverpool tried to buy him and he told them where the door was and to use it.

Season 2

Transfers

I was given a budget of 41.5 Million

First off, I wanted to get rid of Koscielny and Squillaci which ment I only had space for one centerback to come in to cover them, so I made several bids

Phil Jones 17.25 mil

Ryan Shawcross 13 Mil

Mexes 29 mil

I withdrew from Mexes, and it was between Jones and Shawcross. After much personal debate I went with Phil Jones.

Then I realised I needed a right winger, I only had one target, Adam Johnson, he had been shut out at Man city and I got him at 15 mil, which in my view is a steal. (But that could be because I support City)

After Nasri's injury hit season, I decided I wanted more cover behind the striker, so I signed Douglas Costa, for 12.5 mil, I nearly got David Silva for 41 mil, but I rejected because I lacked the funds and my board are w******.

That's 71 Million spent, 41 million received. Which leaves me with 1 mil for January YAY!

In January, i'm losing Bendtner and Arshavin, neither I feel fit in the team anymore, and I found a young replacement for Arshavin. I'm also actively trying to sell Song, but it's not going to well.

My goals for this season is to finish top 2, win the fa cup, finish in the semi's of CL and win the carling cup

My board wants exactly the same as me, hopefully I can deliver.

At 4 million he's another piece of good scouting, I must admit I don't normally go for None EU players or people who haven't played in the EPL if I can help it, however I felt even if he doesn't do well, I can sell him for alot more.

I bought this guy simply to train him and resell him, 750k he cost me, I reckon I can get almost 10x that. However if he does meet his potential, he can be a rockstar, although I just don't feel I have a player who can mentor him into perfection, I suppose there's Fabregas, but we'll see.

The wonderkids is one of the major reasons I like to play this game, I feel a team i've helped create is alot better than a team of already renowned monsters

Very poor second season, up until the last two games of the season we was sitting in 5th, it took a masterclass against West Ham to put us ahead of Everton and Man City, on the last day Everton had Man City, I had Norwich City, it was after we practically destroyed Norwich city so with that we consolidated in 3rd, as Everton and City drew meaning City finished 4th. Dramatic? I thought so

I should also add, Alex song got sold for 10 million, and was then replaced by Steven Fletcher for 7.5 million, Fletcher was bought because at the time I had,

My 3 best players

3) Elijero Elia - He popped up and scored whenever it felt like things wasn't going my way, he used his speed to destroy defences but sometimes I felt his decision making was poor.

2) Robin Van Persie - When he wasn't injured, he was vital to my team. That was the issue, he was injured alot and the team needed him, alot.

1) Rene Adler - I felt by himself he won us games, he was brilliant and would normally keep a clean sheet.

I only bought this kid for 1.3 mil, I think once Adler hits 31, I'll bring him onto the bench and let Adler into the reserves

Same as I usually do, will most likely resell this guy after 3 or 4 seasons of training, unless he really impresses in the carling cup, which he'll play in next season.

Transfer Budget - 31 Mil Wage Budget 1.5 Mil

Goals -

Finish top 2, Win the Fa Cup, Final of the League cup, Semi-finals of the champions league

Board wants -

Challenge the top of the league, Semi finals fa cup, Ignore the league cup and final of the champions league

I sold Chamakh simply because he does not hit the back of the net, it was really really fustrating, I feel I didn't need to make many signings, and I should just sell what I didn't need, Yann M'vila issued a come and get me plea to me at the start of the season, I obliged because I feel I need someone to help defend the backline but also send out searching balls, and suprisingly I got Rossi, it's the most i've ever spent on a player, but Rossi was smashing them in left right and centre for his former club.

Denilson made me feel guilty about selling him when he said he was sad to leave me .

Mina will be a star, my scout picked him up and my jaw hit the floor. The only problem is the position he plays I already have Wilshere/Nasri/Costa and even Thiago Neves, ideally what I'll do is get Nasri to tutor him and he might play more than Wilshere... But Wilshere and him are my clubs future, there's no doubt about that.
