Church CM
Simple question really ... How does one read Even(Fav) in odds. Match Odds are as follows: Swindon: 4-1 Draw: 5-2 Bristol Rovers: 4-7 This translates as I understand it to: If Swindon were to play the Gas 5 times, they would win 1 time If Swindon and the Gas played 7 times, they would draw 2 times If Swindon were to play the Gas 11 times, the Gas would win 7 times How many times would the Gas win if the odds are as follows: Bristol Rovers: Evens(Fav) Draw: 11-5 Swindon: 11-5 Thanks in advance! Trents
Usuing your analogy, with evens you could say the bookies think that Rovers would have a 50/50 chance of winning.
Church CM
Thanks for the response. Just wasn't sure given the 11-5 for both Draw and Swindon victory ... a 50/50 chance seems light in that example. Thanks again.
MelbVictory
I always look at the "dollar" or monetary odds. It would be good if you changed the settings and looked at the same match. That might clear it up a bit. Lower monetary value = more likely winner and thus less return on a 1 dollar wager.
ironix
There is a profit margin factored into the odds, so probability you calculate from them will be slightly inflated.
nilneil
why not changeyour odds to decimal instead of fractions might make it eaier for you

I like the decimal system. Thanks for the heads up.

That's not quite how odds function. For instance, the odds for Swindon at 4-1 signify that Swindon has a 20% chance of winning (1 out of 5 possible outcomes). A draw at 5-2 symbolizes a roughly 30% chance of a draw happening (2 out of 7) and the Bristol odds at 4-7 indicate a tad over 60% chance (7 out of 11 outcomes should be favorable--i.e. a Bristol victory). The evens notation signifies that one outcome is just as likely to occur as the other ( 1-1, 2-2, etc.)
