Spikester
Knap You should see if you can improve the 4-1-2-2-1 tactic, as that certainly has been the most stable for me with ALL levels of teams. Steve
hypermonkey
any plans to do a more conventional 4222?
knap
Which one did you use in FM11 and I can see if it can be reused in FM12?
Spikester
In FM11 I had some decent success with your 4-4-2 tactic, it was the one before the 105pts, think it was maybe 99pts in FM11. How have you been getting on? Still using your 4-2-3-1 tactic? From the Leeds screenshot it seems to be quite leaky in defense? Steve
knap
Did you try the high & dry version of 4231 with farrows or the ultra defensive?
Spikester
I haven't tried any if them yet as I don't have a good AMC player, and also because it seemed to concede alot of goals when you were using it wil Leeds. Is that what you are using? Steve
knap
I used it for a few games as due to injuries took Kane and Chamberlin on loan for month. The 4231 with farrows is an aggressive tactic but there is a very defensive version. 4222 from last year tweaked looks OK. http://www.mediafire.com/?2fjazbssra6818h
Spikester
Who are you testing the 4222 with?
Preveza
Using 102pt 442 with Crewe and sitting top after 35 games. 10 points clear at the top with basically default squad. KEY: Using my own team talks and always keeping players happy and motivated. I tested same tactic but left teamtalks to assman, and I was 6th after 35 games. So team talks are crucial
knap
Team talks do appear to give better results but going on a run helps with morale. This was with Ass Man team talks. Uploaded with ImageShack.us
knap
I would probably use MU or perhaps Chelsea Lpool with 4222.
ShirazS
Hey Knap, When changing to a SUS tactic, do you remove runs from all the players including strikers/wingers? Also, how much of time wasting do you add? Regards Shiraz
knap
I leave strikers the same or change to often but wingers barrow if really nervous but I prefer an outlet rather than allow too much pressure. TW to just often should be enough as full can mean getting caught with ball.
SnK41.int
This tactic is still very powerful at home but I'm having trouble in away games since 12.

knap
If winning keep using 102pt. I've used Southampton tactic for a few games but not enough to form a firm opinion but looks good. Uploaded with ImageShack.us

knap
Yes, thats the link for Southampton tactic which is a general application tactic based on 102pts. The MC tactic is based on ideas from my Spurs game on old patch.

knap
I have done a quick test with Southampton and certainly ok, but stilll working out best setting options. If you need a goal pushup D Line. There is another trick I use, to be defensive move CB passing to full.

Spikester
May of found my answer already. I'm playing as Southampton, and its 25mins in and i'm beating Torquay in the cup 4-0!!! Oh, i'm using the tactic you beat Arsenal 8-0 with. Steve

Spikester
Dunno whether to use the 'MC Tactic 442' or the 8-0 one with Sunderland. Any ideas? I'm into my second game with the 8-0 tactic, and beating Cardiff 2-0 so far and dominating! Looking great so far. Steve
Spikester
Knap You need to take a closer look at the 8-0 tactic! It has been a beast so far for me, and doing well defensively! Steve

knap
They are probably very similar and depends more on quality of players and if you score more you tend to concede more. Overall the Quad is probably the better all round tactic at this point in time.

knap
TBH I was messing around and took over MU with Sunday League rep. I've played about 30 games with mc and mu without loss. However this is a HUB tactic and for most sides will work better without HUB. It is also flexible with formation, so can use it as 4222 or 4231 or defensive 4141 Non HUB 4231 with Spurs Uploaded with ImageShack.us

Spikester
I've been using your new tactic with Lyon in France, and the home results have been very good, but away has been a bit of a problem. Do you think the 4231 tactic may be better? Lyon do have some good AMC players. Steve
knap
Is that with or without HUB? The 442 is still strongest formation but use 4231 as VDV and not many forwards at Spurs to start the game. All you need do is move the players for another formation and see how it goes.
ShirazS
Hey knap, So I could theoretically move one of the strikers to AMC and the wingers to AMR and AML? Do you think it would work if I move one of the MC's to DMC and one of the strikers to MC?
knap
In theory. I was using a similar set up with an old Spurs game and changed formation for every game. Plug and play for a season is a different kettlr of fish.
