PLeaseDontSackME
I recently got a new laptop and it runs fm like a dream. Acer Asspire 5750Z Intel Core B940 Processor (2.0 GHz, 2M L3 cache) Intel HD graphics 4GB DDR3 Memory 500GB HDD HD Monitor Ive not played FM on a Desktop computer since FM 2007. Tim_Cdy
Agreed. You cannot beat a dedicated GPU. Maybe Fusion will start a new gen of IG that can compete. As Ishu pointed out, Gig of GDDR3 may not be any quicker than 512MByte of GDDR4 without doing the math.
Tactic Master
I bought my laptop a few years ago and the specs are... Acer Aspire 7738G Intel Core 2 Duo Processor (2.2GHz) Nvidia GeForce GT 240M (Up to 2815 MB TurboCache) 4GB DDR3 Memory 1000GB HDD 1 TB Hard Drive This laptop runs Football Manager smoothly and I can run large amounts of leagues and load huge amounts of players, with the best graphical options available, no problem at all. I would suggest anything better than this, but I would also highly suggest avoiding Acer laptops because they are very prone to overheating, which is well documented by people all over the web. I've found that I had to buy a laptop cooler in order to play games like FM, and because my laptop is 17.3" screen, I had to pay over the odds for 1. It also doesn't stop the overheating 100%. Tactic Master
This is the laptop you should look to get. It's worth paying over the odds for a new laptop, because technology moves so fast and they can quickly become outdated. My laptop is still going well after 3 years and I paid £700. You can also customise this laptop even further for better stuff. http://configure.euro.dell.com/dellstore/config.aspx?oc=n00w1v06&c=uk&l=en&s=dhs&cs=ukdhs1&model_id=alienware-m11x-r3
celtic1967
Some great laptops there but would like to say that I am not going to pay anywhere near 1000 pound for one. My range is between 300 and 600 pound. I am looking for one that will run FM with ease, and with a huge database and lots of leagues loaded. Avoid Samsung and Acer ? Cheers Manvell, I'll have another look and be looking out for those things then post back here. 480 pound for what you have stated is unreal! Would love that! Tim_Cdy
Depends on what OS. Vista and W7 stipulate 2Ghz. If that 1.7Ghz is speed stepped and not maximum. Being pre loaded with W7 then no. It must be the idle clock speed though, a Core I7 at 1.7Ghz does not make sense unless it is the energy saving die.

Tim_Cdy
Not bad. There is a higher family of 5 series MGPU's but that seems fairly good. Yeah that is not too bad. One thing though. Memory speed of 1333 is disirable over 1066, but for a lappy that is still good. How much though? The RAM always suffers in Notebooks in terms of value and top end ****. Tim_Cdy
Well form my perspective. Core I7 with 8Gig of 4X2 Dual Pairs @1333 (DDR3). An SSD for the drive with a 5 Series MGPU. That will cost though. More Ram often means less, it depends on what FM can address, so a powerful lappy does not need to be. A Desktop is the king of raw power, what you need is a lappy at that price range. Raw CPU power is first, then the Graphix.

Tactic Master
More means less ? haha what am I meant to be looking for? I really dont know!Could you recommend any? Dont mind paying up to 700 pound Just look for something that has a better spec than my laptop Celtic, you can't go wrong! Mine cost me £700 about 3 years ago, so your probably looking at £300 - £400 now for that. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor 2.2GHz (Try get a Quad Core if you can) (Usually a processor allows you to work with more applications whule stabilizing the speed) NVIDIA GeForce (1GB) GT 240M (Try to stick with an NVIDIA, because you can't go wrong with them and stick to 1GB+) 4GB DDR3 RAM (4GB is totally fine, but if you can get better in your price range, go for it!) 1000 GB HDD (No Comment) As I said before, the more you spend, the less you will spend in future, because it will last a lot longer. Spending £200 extra on top of a £400 pound budget will potentially save your £200 in future IMO.
kingjericho
IMO there's no need to buy a first class laptop just to play fm, even if you're already thinking about future versions. A good laptop will do the job perfectly, mine for instance is a good laptop but not top class and I had a save with 15 leagues loaded and 10 seasons in.
Tim_Cdy
Yeah, a Core I5 or I7 with a 260GTM? would be good. Just make sure Celtic that you get good quality RAM. Tactic Master is right, FM will address no where near that in terms of RAM. I would recommend 2X 4Ghz sticks. Dual operation is always best. Higher don't bother with X3 sticks, go 8Ghz X2. SSD with a 1TB drive as your . But I doubt will get more than 500GBytes

I think it's possible, i'm not 100%, the link doesnt take you to that laptop now, it appears it's limited offers. But that site has tons of laptops and you can customise your search to find what your looking for. Search for the spec i showed you or something like it and you will find the laptops you should be looking at Or you could just stick with the easy option of PC World which is where i got my laptop from.
