shelton
Is possible in FM12 someone acquiring Qatari citizenship ?
Alaa
someone like a player playing in Qatari league? after playing for certain time depends on the region, he should be eligible for playing to that country, if they choosed to do so. lets say, Man Utd's fabio, moved to Al Gharrafa and played 3 or 5 years I don't know exactly, but he'll be eligible to play for Qatar national team, if he didn't play for Brazil. mije1983
Looking at the foreign players at Qatari clubs on my game, none of them seem to be 'accumulating days' to get citizenship. So I would guess the answer is no.
AcidBurn
The editor says -1 as the years to gain Qatar citizenship, I would guess that means they cannot gain Qatari nationality.
TaylorStevenson10
This is true in real life, the only way to gain Qatari citizenship is via birthright. http://www.justlanded.com/english/Qatar/Qatar-Guide/Visas-Permits/Citizenship
singtelsux
You could by marriage, but it MUST including converting to their religion, which is not there in the game.

Mike7077
I think the Qatari authorities can bestow citizenship upon you at their choosing. This is happening in Qatari football, where the authorities are giving citizenship to players (mainly from South America) in order to improve the national team. But there's not that many currently playing for the team.
vasilli07
Just to refresh people memories, they were the country who tried to 'buy' former Bundesliga top scorer Aílton and 2 other Brazilians. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/03/10/sports/10iht-soccer_ed3__5.html
shelton
Yes, Qatar Authorities can give citizenship for services to country, but recently if you go view the people that they give citizenship is not for services but interesting of have that person represent the country. I have read the Qatar Authorities are offering citizenship to some ASPIRE players. I think this should be represented in FM.
alw02005
I think this should be represented in FM. Sounds like a difficult thing to integrate into the game. Who or what would decide who gets offered citizenship? Could be random I guess.
vasilli07
They can just input the FIFA 5 years residency rule for Qatar. After that, the player can decide for themselves if they want to play for Qatar after getting the citizenship.
DanSpur
Sounds like a difficult thing to integrate into the game. Who or what would decide who gets offered citizenship? Could be random I guess. ASPIRE is a development program, a training academy. Not just for football, either. http://www.aspire.qa/ From memory there is an Aspire team in the game, you could (maybe?!) include citizenship as part of signing a new contract for people based at that club.
