rich10
Does anyone else miss either the pure relief at having a goal you thought would knock you out of the cup disallowed? Is there a good reason why the flashing text for disallowed goals has been removed? It removes any tension we once experienced as we waited, feeling sure it was offside, for the lino to flag for it...and then reviewing the same decision to make sure any subsequent post-match questions are handled correctly. I used to celebrate these goals and then sit head-in-hands when it was ruled out. Just 'scored' what could have been a match-winner, but didn't even flinch, a shame really. Fredric Drum
Even before they changed it, it was easy to tell whether it would be disallowed or not. If it would be disallowed, there would be a delay of a fraction of a second between the scoring and the flashing, very short, but noticable. I could always tell! Diesel16
still happens i thought? anyway the linesman always stood still when it was offside i noticed.
o JaY
anyway the linesman always stood still when it was offside i noticed. Yup, that's how I tell. If the lino runs back towards the halfway line it stands, if he stands still then he's flagging for a foul or freekick - but then tbh, that's how it is in real life. I miss the flashing text too. wardog
the linesman was always the spot for me.
Langefis
I was thinking the exact same thing recently. It can be really annoying.
sean_macleod
I liked it, its actually pretty normal many times we see teams and fans go nuts thinking they scored only for it to be disallowed for Offside.
Cycstorm
Hated the flashing text. Not sorry to see it gone at all.

robertcornell68
I used to like the flashing text but it became pointless once I spotted the various signs that it was going to be disallowed.

singtelsux
Would love to see this back after major patch. Flashing goals, then disallowed. just like old time and IRL.
rich10
Fair enough, there are people that prefer it as it is now, but if anyone knows of an easy way to turn this back on, it would be appreciated if you let us know. Cheers.
Al_Pacino
As a side note, my strikers NEVER miss when they are offside
CityAndColour
The crowd noise is different too, plus the ball seems to go into the net quicker.
ism-scfc
What is a linesman? But yes, I agree that the giveaway is if the Assistant Referee stays still rather than pelting down the line!
CityAndColour
A linesman is a widely-used term for an assistant referee, as his job is primarily to run the line and adjudicate from there on incidents the referee doesn't have a clear view of or may have missed. Hope this helps

rich10
There is no real need to be precious about this, or argumentative.
postal postie
i still get the flashing text for disallowed goals. i've only noticed it when watching 'commentary only' though. can't say i remember either way for 3d view. i do find it strange that sometimes there isn't flashing text for goals that ARE allowed though. i can go in at half time thinking its 0-0 and find out i'm 2-1 up. singtelsux
I could give more term known to all football fans worldwide but not in the "laws of the game"
