~Ian~
AUGUST 2009 UPDATE ARSENAL FIRST TEAM CS: Chelsea 1 - 2 Arsenal (Baptista, Fabregas) O’Doors came on after 54 minutes when Henry had to go off, and within 5 minutes was involved in the talking point of the game. A free-kick was awarded to Arsenal for Lampard pulling Bilyaletdinov, and when O’Doors got involved with a few choice words aimed in Lampard’s direction, the rotund midfielder fired back with a head butt, knocking O’Doors to the ground and earning himself a straight red. O’Doors was also the youngest player to have played in this match. PL1: Manchester City 2 - 1 Arsenal (Baptista) Hunt came on at half-time for the appalling Pablo, who had been at fault for both City goals. He played well and kept the score from increasing at all, but still a disappointing loss to start the season. PL2: Arsenal 4 - 0 Bolton (Walcott, Reyes 2, Fabregas) Hunt started this game in place of Pablo and earned an 8/10 rating, a needless push which earned him a yellow card being the only black mark on his performance. MacGreene played upfront alongside Baptista and then Pato, but was overshadowed by them and only managed one shot in the 68 minutes he played. ESC: Liverpool 2 - 1 Arsenal (Baptista) Hunt retained his place in the side but the team fell to a poor defeat, not taking advantage of the long periods of dominance and letting in a 90th minute loser. PL3: Aston Villa 0 - 2 Arsenal (Rosicky, Baptista) McDyess replaced Hunt in the line-up for this match and played very well before being subbed in the 70th minute for the more-experienced Toure. Villa were playing to win and battled the whole game, and McDyess did well to limit their opportunities to half chances and snapshots. Premiership RESERVES McDonald has signed a new contract for £575 a week until 2012. Adicell has signed a new contract for £1,600 a week until 2012 with an 8k signing bonus. Member has signed a new contract until 2012 for £450 a week. Small has signed a new contract until 2012 for £625 a week. L1: West Ham 2 - 1 Arsenal (Evina) ADP has joined Dundee United on loan. Reserve League UNDER 18s L1: Chelsea 0 - 3 Arsenal (Endres, O’Doors, MacGreene) A good win to start the season, O’Doors and MacGreene combining very well upfront, each setting up a goal for the other. McDyess and Bezlakov were impenetrable at the centre of defence. L2: Reading 2 - 5 Arsenal (OG, Pieterzoon, O’Doors, Greene, Endres) Another good win here, and four different goalscorers, three of whom are CSE Academy graduates is impressive. O’Doors in particular played well, not just scoring one but creating goals for Greene and Endres. Sagdiyev has joined Dundee United on loan. C1R: Everton 1 - 1 Arsenal (O’Doors) (3-2 pens) Third game in a row with a goal from O’Doors, firing in a free-kick from 25 yards. The tie went to a shoot-out and Arsenal went through, with strikes from Jones, Greene and Bezlakov being enough, despite McDyess, O’Doors and Endres missing. Under 18 League DUNDEE UNITED RESERVES Dumfermline 2 - 2 Dundee United ADP and Sagdiyev both made their debuts on Scotland in this reserve game, neither man impressing too much and both receiving 6/10 ratings, although in truth it was a terrible game for the neutral fan. Scottish Reserve League INTERNATIONALS San Marino 2 - 2 Kazakhstan ADP came on at half-time to earn his second international cap and won the header in midfield that started the move for the second San Marinese goal. And on the opposing side, was his fellow CSE Academy and Dundee United Reserve teammate Sagdiyev, making his international debut. He didn’t have as good a game, earning a yellow card for obstruction, but did put in a good tackle late on to win the ball from ADP.

~Ian~
have you decided player of the season yet? There were two votes each for Paul McDyess and Rick Adicell, so it's going to have to go to me to make the big decision. And I choose McDyess. Adicell played very well, but it was in the under 18 side. McDyess stepped up and carried his good form over to the senior team too. Both players look like they have potential for the future though. ~Ian~
SEPTEMBER 2009 UPDATE ARSENAL FIRST TEAM CLGS1: Arsenal 4 - 1 Benfica (Baptista, Adebayor, Pato, Walcott) With Bernabe out injured, MacDonald was given a chance in goal. He made a mistake for the Benfica goal, running out to claim the ball at a corner but getting nowhere near it, leaving an empty goal for the striker to head into. He made no more errors though, and kept the ball out for the rest of the game. In defence McDyess started a bit nervy with an inexperienced keeper behind him, but he improved as he went, gaining confidence the whole game. Member made a late 15 minute cameo appearance. PL4: Middlesbrough 1 - 1 Arsenal (Rosicky) MacDonald played again in goal and had no chance with Yakubu’s header. When MacDonald was beaten on another occasion, McDyess did well to get back and make a recovering tackle. A poor team performance. PL5: Arsenal 3 - 3 Newcastle (Bendtner 2, Baptista) Should have sold Gallas in the summer, he can be such a liability and was at fault for both goals conceded in the first half. McDyess replaced him at the break, but Martins still managed to complete his hat-trick and earn Newcastle a point from a game they were dominated in. CLGS2: Hamburg 1 - 2 Arsenal (Pato, Villaluz) MacGreene came on for the last 20 minutes but didn’t have an impact. PL6: Charlton 1 - 3 Arsenal (Baptista, Pato, Reyes) Hunt came on at half-time at right-back for Cassani, and the defence looked more confident in the second half. PL7: Arsenal 1 - 1 Blackburn (Rosicky) Hunt replaced Cassani for this game and played okay, though his passing could have been better. Premiership RESERVES L2: Fulham 3 - 2 Arsenal (Esparza, Dunne) L3: Arsenal 6 - 0 Wolves (Bendtner 5, Vela) L4: Arsenal 3 - 1 QPR (Evina, Van den Berg 2) Reserve League UNDER 18s L3: Arsenal 3 - 0 West Ham (MacGreene 3) Contrasting fortunes for two strikers in this match, as MacGreene came on in the 24th minute and had a blinder, grabbing three goals. Unfortunately, he came on as the replacement for O’Doors who was injured. Tests after the game showed that he had torn his calf muscle and will miss about four months. Greene was the pick of the bunch from the other players involved, setting up two of MacGreene’s goals with good crosses. The Stig has started to be tutored by Toure but he is unsure what he is expected to gain from it. L4: Arsenal 4 - 0 West Brom (Filipovic, Greene, Oswaldo, Allen) A third clean sheet in a row is a good sign, and it appears that the defence are forming a good unit at preventing goals. Filipovic will be pleased to have opened his account and Greene and Oswaldo showed that attacking from out wide pays. Jones was the man of the match from central midfield though, being involved in all the important plays and making a large amount of key passes. The week after, Jones broke a rib in training and will be out for four weeks. L5: QPR 1 - 5 Arsenal (Greene 2, OG, Pieterzoon, Colic) A very good performance, the only disappointment coming when Riccel went to charge down a shot and instead deflected it into his own net. Greene did well cutting in from the right and managed to score twice, and Colic made his first appearance of the season and scored a late goal. Under 18 League DUNDEE UNITED UNDER 19 Motherwell 2 - 2 Dundee United ADP and Sagdiyev were moved from the reserves to the under 19s for this tie. ADP was Dundee United’s man of the match, setting up the equalising goal with a cheeky chip from a free-kick over the unsuspecting defence. INTERNATIONALS Georgia 1 - 0 Kazakhstan Sagdiyev played okay but not well enough to prevent his side losing to a good Georgian team. France 7 - 1 San Marino ADP didn’t play too badly, but his team had no chance right from the start against the French, and they weren’t helped by an eighth minute red card. ADP also received a booking for a trip on Ribery.

~Ian~
OCTOBER 2009 UPDATE ARSENAL FIRST TEAM CLGS3: Deportivo 0 - 0 Arsenal Ethelef’s first action on his debut was to go sliding in on Barragan, upending him and he was lucky to avoid getting booked. After that though he settled in okay and when he played Bilyaletdinov in the Russian should have scored. MacGreene also played upfront but he wasn’t able to translate his under 18 form to the senior side, his best effort being a shot from a ridiculous angle that ended up in the crowd. Ethelef made the new record for youngest ever Arsenal player in this game. PL8: Liverpool 3 - 1 Arsenal (Henry) CCR3: Arsenal 5 - 0 Wolves (Riquelme 3, Henry 2) Hunt and MacDonald were both called into the first team for this game, and both men played well. PL9: Arsenal 1 - 0 Wolves (Henry) MacDonald kept a second consecutive clean sheet in this game, though he didn’t actually have any shots to save. Hunt put in a cross for Carvalho to score from, but it was ruled out for offside. Member started upfront in place of Baptista, but when he ‘scored’ a header from a corner it was ruled out for a push on the defender marking him. CLGS4: Arsenal 2 - 0 Deportivo (OG, Adebayor) Hunt and MacDonald again played well, earning a third clean sheet. Hunt put in some good crosses in the first half and the strikers should have scored from at least one of them. Premiership RESERVES L5: Charlton 1 - 1 Arsenal (Barazite) L6: Arsenal 3 - 0 Aston Villa (Villaluz, Uwezu, Randall) Barker played well in goal, keeping a clean sheet and getting an 8/10 rating. Had to make a good save from Angel’s header. L7: West Brom 1 - 3 Arsenal (van den Berg, Murphy 2) L8: Arsenal 2 - 1 Chelsea (Vela, Evina) Reserve League UNDER 18s L6: Arsenal 3 - 0 Fulham (Endres, Pieterzoon, MacGreene) Another convincing win, and Ethelef’s cross for Pieterzoon’s header means he’s now created three goals in four games, a good showing for a left back. Pieterzoon has scored two games in a row and is determined to prove he belongs in the side while O’Doors is out injured. On the injury front, Greene sprained his ankle in this match and will miss the rest of the month. CR2: Aston Villa 3 - 5 Arsenal (Colic, MacGreene 2, Riccel 2) This was a back and forth match, Villa taking the lead first, then Arsenal going 2-1 up, Villa going 3-2 up, then a late Arsenal equaliser to force extra-time. Riccel was the hero in the extra 30 minutes, scoring twice to send the team through to the next round. MacGreene was the man of the match overall though, scoring twice in normal time as well as assisting Colic for his goal. Luman had a poor game at left back, winning only half of his headers and tackles. As a sub Ethelef added another assist to his total. While Frith has picked up the habit of attacking more from the right back position as a result of being tutored by Daniel Alves, he didn’t learn much from him overall and the tutoring ended early because of a big difference in personalities. L7: Portsmouth 2 - 4 Arsenal (MacGreene 2, Allen 2) With a 35 minute appearance, Allen won the man of the match award. From 2-0 down, MacGreene had scored twice to bring the game level. Making his return from injury Jones had tired early, so Allen came on for him and banged in two quick goals to give Arsenal the 3 points. Dawson finally made his debut as a sub. L8: Arsenal 4 - 0 Charlton (OG, Colic 2, OG) There was a big setback in just the fourth minute of the game, when Oswaldo got his first touch of the ball and was clattered from behind. He had to be taken in an ambulance straight to hospital and will be out for two months with several broken ribs. The Stig got the man of the match award for inspiring the team after this, and he put in the cross for the first own goal of the game. Colic rivalled him for the award, netting twice from just three shots. In a case of very bad timing, just after scoring these goals Colic broke down in training with a hip injury and has been sent to a specialist, forcing him to miss two months of action. On the same day Jones was also ruled out for a month after twisting his ankle. Under 18 League DUNDEE UNITED UNDER 19 No appearances for Sagdiyev or ADP. Sagdiyev was injured most of the month with a pulled hamstring. INTERNATIONALS Norway 2 - 0 San Marino ADP was the only player from the San Marino side to get a shot on target, but it was easily saved by the keeper. Ukraine 4 - 1 Kazakhstan This was an easy win for Ukraine, and while Sagdiyev didn’t play badly he struggled in the air, only winning 1 of 5 headers. San Marino 0 - 4 Ukraine The usual for ADP. Competent, but his team-mates for San Marino are really crap. INTERNATIONALS (UNDER 19) Germany 2 - 0 Wales This was a bad-tempered game as Germany had three players sent off. Adicell was the last of these to go, being dismissed after 75 minutes for picking up two bookings. Ireland 0 - 2 Germany Adicell was captain of the German but although they won comfortably, he was marked out of the game and had an uninspiring performance. ~Ian~
The problem is that when I started this game, it was just for a bit of a laugh, maybe jetsetting around Europe and managing in various countries. I only thought of doing a sign-up for it near the end of the first season. This meant that I only have the top leagues from countries turned on, so there isn't really the option of dropping down to the lower leagues for players who can't cut it in the Prem. Will have to keep that in mind if I do a similar game/sign-up when FM09 is released.
coldkohmew
CLGS3: Deportivo 0 - 0 Arsenal Ethelef’s first action on his debut was to go sliding in on Barragan, upending him and he was lucky to avoid getting booked. Good day for ethelef!!!

~Ian~
Quite possibly, but only a minor one. There were a lot of injuries over the last few months and I don't tend to mention injuries if it isn't going to keep a player out for at least a few weeks. He's definitely back playing in the first game of November. Next update will come tomorrow.

~Ian~
NOVEMBER 2009 UPDATE ARSENAL FIRST TEAM PL10: Manchester United 0 - 2 Arsenal (OG, Walcott) MacDonald will have been delighted with his performance here, gaining at 8/10 rating and a clean sheet against good opposition. Hunt remained consistent with a 7/10. He did manage to keep Ronaldo quiet all game though. CCR4: Arsenal 2 - 1 Manchester United (Riquelme, Rosicky) After being knocked to the ground at a corner by Rooney in the sixth minute, it looked like MacDonald might not have been able to play on. He carried on though, and won himself a man of the match award in the process. He made several good saves, and started the move which led to the second goal, sending a big throw up the wing for Henry to run onto and cross for Rosicky to finish. Hunt also proved his worth in this game, making a crucial block at the far post in the final few minutes to stop Rooney equalising. MacDonald had his form praised in the press, and he declared himself pleased by this and indicated that he looked forward to continuing to play even better. PL11: Arsenal 4 - 2 Fulham (Baptista 2, Fabregas, Pato) MacDonald was unlucky for both goals. The first came when the defence just fell apart, Hunt being dragged way out of position and leaving him outnumbered at the back. The second was a penalty, given away by the appallingly bad Riquelme. PL12: Hull 0 - 6 Arsenal (Fabregas, Vela, Baptista 3, Pato) MacDonald stubbed his finger the day before the game so had to sit it out. Hunt played a very attacking role and created Pato’s goal, sending a fabulously weighted ball up the line for him to run onto before rounding the keeper to score. CLGS5: Benfica 0 - 4 Arsenal (Pato, Baptista 2, OG) Although he wasn’t credited with the assist, Hunt was instrumental in creating one of the goals. He put a dangerous cross into the 6 yard box, and a defender turned it into his won net preventing Walcott getting onto the end of it. Hunt was lucky not to get booked at all though, fouling Simao a few times during the game in his efforts marking him, which he did well earning a 9/10 rating. Adicell didn’t get away with his indiscretions though, after coming on as a sub he got a yellow card for pulling back Simao. PL13: Arsenal 7 - 1 QPR (Pato 4, Vela 2, Baptista) A very good performance by the team, Hunt contributing a lot by combining the defence with the attack. With this long run of games in the first team his performances are improving and becoming more confident. He’s even keeping Alves out of the side. Towards the end of the game though he received a kick to the thigh, leaving a bruise which will keep him out of the next game. When Adicell came on as a sub he only touched the ball twice, the first time he was hacked down and Collins got sent off for this tackle, the second was lashing a wild shot over the bar. PL14: Arsenal 5 - 0 Portsmouth (Walcott, Baptista 2, Esparza, Farfan) During a training session Hunt fell and dislocated his shoulder, putting him out of action until at least the end of the year. Premiership RESERVES L9: Wolves 4 - 5 Arsenal (Bendtner 3, van den Berg, Murphy) Reserve League UNDER 18s Martin twisted an ankle in training and will miss the rest of the month. Despite this setback, he signed a professional contract until 2012 for £240 a week. L9: Wolves 0 - 4 Arsenal (Greene, Bezlakov, Filipovic, MacGreene) The bad luck with injuries continued in this game, as soon after scoring Filipovic had to be subbed off with a sprained ankle which will keep him out for up to four weeks. Allen also suffered a bad cut on his knee, but won’t miss much time. Greene was man of the match being in the thick of most of the action, crossing for Filipovic’s goal and being on the end of Riccel’s pass to score himself. MacGreene’s goal was his 10th of the season, in just 9 games. MacGreene then became the next player to get injured. He sprained an ankle in training, joining 8 other players on the injured list. 5 of the injured players are strikers, and the other 4 are attacking midfielders leaving a bit of a crisis upfront. Luckily there’s a two week gap between these games to let some players recover. L10: Arsenal 5 - 0 Tottenham (Pieterzoon 2, Luman, McDyess, Eder) Pietersoon was man of the match for his all action display, scoring twice and setting up another. McDyess could also have registered two goals, but his penalty hit the post and bounced out of play. The defence played well together yet again. O’Doors was unnecessarily played late on, as he’s still not fully recovered from hit torn calf muscle. Under 18 League DUNDEE UNITED RESERVES Hearts 1 - 3 Dundee United Back to the reserves, and Sagdiyev played quite well in this game, though his play in the air remains unconvincing, only winning 1 of 5 headers. Dundee United 1 - 2 Rangers Sagdiyev had a quiet game here, not getting involved in the play very much. Scottish Reserve League INTERNATIONALS Qatar 3 - 0 San Marino Even against Qatar San Marino are useless. 6/10 for ADP. INTERNATIONALS (UNDER 19) Germany 4 - 0 Greece Adicell played well in this match, and got the ball rolling for the high score with the cross to set up the first goal. ~Ian~
Coldkohmew - Only one pre-contract has been handed out in any season so far actually, to McDyess I think it was. I leave that to the AssMan. Ebfatz - I'm in a good mood, so yeah sure. For now though I won't reserve any more players though for users who already have one to give any new forumers join the thread. Terras - The regens come through naturally each year, I just nickname them. I have no idea on their CA or PA so it's random how good each player is. Update tomorrow. If you get lots of interest then I'll happily relinquish the extra man. I'm just feeling a little out of it with Paddy's injury:thdn:. He was such a great run of form. Scoring goals, worth £2.2m, then a 4 month injury. Let's just hope he's the same man when he returns.
~Ian~
DECEMBER 2009 UPDATE ARSENAL FIRST TEAM CLGS6: Arsenal 3 - 0 Hamburg (Pato, Vela, Walcott) With qualification to the next round already assured, Small was drafted into the team at the back alongside Gallas. He was happy to fill in alongside the veteran and performed admirably, and he sent the clearances up the field that led to the crosses for both the second and third goals. CWCSF: Arsenal 3 - 1 ES Tunis (Vela 2, Pato) CWCF: Cruz Azul 0 - 2 Arsenal (Vela, Henry) PL15: Tottenham 0 - 2 Arsenal (Baptista, Fabregas) PL16: Arsenal 3 - 0 West Brom (Vela, Baptista, Pato) PL17: West Ham 0 - 6 Arsenal (Pato 5, Baptista) Gallas needed a rest, so Small played in defence alongside Toure. He missed a basic header in the first half which gave Ashton a chance to score, but recovered from this and played well. PL18: Arsenal 3 - 0 Manchester City (Pato 2, Baptista) Small continued at the back and played okay, but a total of just 1 successful tackle from 7 attempts in the game was not very good. PL19: Arsenal 2 - 0 Bolton (Pato, Fabregas) Small started the game very well, making several good tackles and headers to stop Anelka getting near the goal. He picked up a yellow card in the 35th minute though, and after this looked nervy, allowing Anelka to get past him a couple of times. Because of this he was subbed for Pablo at half-time. Premiership RESERVES L10: Arsenal 3 -2 Portsmouth (Bendtner 3) FR: Arsenal 3 - 1 Newcastle (Barazite 3) O’Doors came on as a late sub in this game to try and speed up his return to fitness, but didn’t see much of the ball in his ten minutes on the pitch. L11: Arsenal 2 - 3 Fulham (van den Berg, Song) Reserve League UNDER 18s L11: Norwich 3 - 4 Arsenal (Dawson, Pieterzoon, Oswaldo 2) After playing well for some much of the season so far, McDyess and Riccel were nearly the villains in this game. Instead of just belting the ball out of play when caught in possession at the back, Riccel tried to play his way out of trouble but got dispossessed of the ball. As the striker closed in goal McDyess tried a last-gasp tackle, but the ball deflected wickedly off of his boot and looped over the goalkeeper to give Norwich the 3-2 lead. Luckily they were bailed out by Oswaldo who had come on at half-time. First he equalised, breaking away from a failed Norwich corner, beating three men before rounding the keeper to score a great goal. Then he scored the winner, rising highest from Jones’ corner to nod home. Dawson got his first goal in this match. CQF: Arsenal 4 - 0 Wolves (Endres 2, Dawson, McDyess) An easy win here. The two goals scored by CSE Academy players both came from corners. For the first The Stig swung a ball in to the near post, where Dawson bravely dived in to head home. The second saw no nonsense, McDyess just blasting it through a hole in the wall into the top corner. Dawson twisted an ankle in training and will be out for up to 4 weeks. Riccel will be out for two months after breaking down in training with a hip injury, and will be seeing a specialist. L12: Arsenal 3 - 2 Aston Villa (O’Doors, MacGreene, Pieterzoon) Despite neither of them being anywhere near full fitness, MacGreene and O’Doors were both started and both men scored. Pieterzoon and Dawson have finished being tutored by Reyes and Adebayor, and because of personality differences they are disappointed at what they have learnt from them. L13: Arsenal 8 - 0 Reading (O’Doors 4, Greene, Pieterzoon, Endres 2) Total domination, Reading didn’t even get a single shot in. O’Doors undoubtedly had a great game smashing in four goals, but Pieterzoon also did well, coming off the subs bench to score one and create two. Greene also continues racking up his assists and goals totals, and now has an average rating of over 8. Under 18 League DUNDEE UNITED RESERVES Dundee United 3 - 0 Dunfermline Sagdiyev played well at the back, and made a vital clearance off the line early on to stop Dunfermline taking the lead. Hibernian 0 - 1 Dundee United ADP helped influence the game in the middle of the field, making a number of key passes. DUNDEE UNITED UNDER 19 St. Johnstone 1 - 1 Dundee United ADP played okay captaining the side, but he should have scored early on, instead scuffing his shot wide.
