CFC1983
Just started a game with Chelsea and am playing 4-2-3-1 with two ball winning midfielders (one defend one support). Do you think it could work?????
Proto Tarkula
Better use the supporting one as a box-to-box instead, he will give you extra potential in attack.
SRL88
Ask in the Chelsea Thread which can be found in the Official Forum Links stickie at the top of the GPTG.
Falahk
this is probably one more for the tactics forum or chelsea thread, but anyway, for a regular 4-2-3-1 with mc's im not to sure the roles in question would be optimal since the ballwinner role is more of an attacking role rather then a defensive one
JD nawrat
I've tried it a few times and it works if your BWM/S isn't very good at attacking. If he is good at attacking though you're best to stick him down as B2B, I'd say. I usually prefer BWM/D + B2B or BWM/D + DLP/S
KorbenRyan
In a 4231 it would be very unbalanced, the BWM role involves high closing down so the 2 cms would get drawn out of position a lot and every time they fail to win possession then the opposition will be able to break against your 2 centre backs. As you're Chelsea I'm presuming one of those is John Terry and he isn't going to have the pace to deal with being so exposed. Generally a 4231 with CMs only works defensively if both CMs hold back behind play so CM-Defend or my preference of a DLP(support) and DLP(defend) are better suited roles. Thread is definitely more one for the tactics forum though.
